  1. Well, the cubs are in the NL Central. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif
  2. Our parent company recently instituted a block on certain websites at work in "an effort to protect our network from viruses obtained via the internet." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif Is there any way to get around this? I thought I'd ask the smart people on this site since it hasn't been blocked (yet anyway). http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. Yes. I am one of probably five people under age 30 who does not own an ipod. Never have either. I don't listen to enough music "on the go" to justify buying an ipod. When I got a new phone, I got one with an mp3 player (Cingular's Sync) to replace my ancient mp3 player that only held about 20 or so songs. I figure since I needed a new phone, might as well get one that plays mp3s too. Killed two birds with one stone. It holds way more music than I could ever listen to at one time, which works just fine for running or lifting. The iphone looks cool and all, but I could never justify spending that much money on it. If you need a phone that does all that stuff (and can afford), I'm sure it's awesome, but I'm not drooling over the thing and waiting in line outside Best Buy for five days for one.
  4. You will have to find a place that will let you have a satellite dish first. A lot of rental places downtown won't let you. Charter might have something to do with that too. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  5. I love me a good Charter bashing thread. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif I have had Charter for seven years now and absolutely hate them. When I lived in downtown Madison, I had numerous problems with them every year. Our service constantly went out, sometimes for half a day or more. One year when we moved, I called up to have the service transferred and set up a day and time to have it installed. One roommate took off work to wait for the guy. He never showed. I called and complained. Gave me the spiel about how the tech was there and no one answered, which is BS, because my roommate was there the whole time, even checked the doorbell and everything. Got my appointment rescheduled. Another roommate took off of work. Second time, same thing happens. The guy never showed up. I was livid by this point. I called up and complained to about three different people (being transferred around) before I finally got an answer. They told me to go down to Laundry 101 where Charter has a booth at the beginning of every school year and it would result in a much faster hookup time. A guy came that night and finally hooked up our cable, after weeks of getting the runaround from them. I also cannot stand their constant mailings and tv commercials to try to get me to upgrade to their "bundle" or buy a more expensive cable package I don't need. I might watch about an hour of tv a day. I can't even catch a whole Brewers game most of the time. I've been tempted to cancel my cable altogether (since I don't use it very much), mostly to spite my roommate (which is an entirely different story). I can't wait to move out of the place I'm in and hopefully get something different.
  6. Thanks for posting that info. If had found that though, there is no way I would post it anywhere. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif My calendar will be clear for that day...
  7. It's called the Homestead Credit. Your income had to be less than $24,500 in 2006 to qualify for it though.
  8. Another thing you have to think about is the condo market in Milwaukee - how saturated is it? Will your place hold its value and will you be able to get your money back when you sell? I live in Madison and I feel that the condo market here is getting flooded. New condo buildings are popping up everywhere. I just wonder if people in Madison that buy one will be stuck with it if it isn't on the square downtown or on one of the lakes. Even one of the newer downtown condo buildings on the lake is only 70% full. There is an extremely nice condo place on the near west side with absolutely beautiful condos and it's only about 25-30% full right now.
  9. Just bad luck. That's what I'm going to vent about. No one can really blame Yost or Cordero in this situation. If you're Yost, your closer has the game down to practically the last pitch, so you have to stick with the best closer in baseball. Cordero was bound to blow a save eventually. It's not like he was going to go 65/65 on save opps this season. The Rangers hit good pitches, so you have to give them credit. It absolutely sucks, and happened at a bad time for this team, given the recent stretch they've had, but I think every other team in the Central lost today if I remember correctly, so not like it hurt us that much. Hopefully they will rebound.
  10. Those are great traits in my opinion. Probably because they apply to me too. I love sarcastic people. (Notice this is not in blue font). I love those type of posts. When someone posts a dumb question like that, I just put a link to google in my response. Hopefully they get the point.
  11. Are we talking about one-liners or one line posts? There is a difference. I think a good point can be made with a one line post, and I do that myself quite a bit on this site. Some of my favorite posts are only one line because they are generally a very witty and relevant response to the topic at hand. One-liners that have no point and are just trying to zing someone tend to be worthless though. I do agree that those who are just trying to build massive post counts (clearly this is not me http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ) should be discouraged from doing so through one line posts though. And to those who don't like the "elitist" atmosphere of this site, there are other sites out there that appeal to the masses with their trash talking, flaming, AOL language, etc. I like this site because it pretty much weeds out the riff raff. Some of the other sports sites I belong or have belonged to...not so much. I like that Brian tries to keep this site clean and have it maintain a high level of discourse.
  12. I don't mind losing a game or two, but Boof Bonzer and Scott Baker (who?)? I would think this was a sick joke if I didn't see it happen. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  13. The Badgers are not major in your opinion?
  14. I wish I could afford that. Even if I could, I don't see any reason to spend that much money on a pair of pants. Such a waste.
  15. Sorry. I forgot "and blow right past the motorized cart for the disabled (since they are not disabled) in a mad rush to buy what they need and get out of there as fast as possible" on the end of my statement. I really was not trying to make a blanket statement with my post. I just hate the people who have no disabilities who try to do things that those who are actually disabled should be allowed to do without receiving dirty looks. I worked at a grocery store in high school, so I know all about the problems of people parking in handicapped spaces when they are not really handicapped. I have helped out people who need to use the motorized carts because they actually do have a problem walking. I've seen people park in the fire lane in front of the store and hurry inside to get some groceries and rush out again simply because they are in a hurry, not because they are handicapped.
  16. I never used the word "all." Go back and check my posts. I'm careful not to do things like that, because I know the words like "all," "every," etc. encompass everyone or everything, and there are always exceptions to the rule. If I really need to spell it out for you, I have no problem with people who have disabilities (visible or not) getting dropped off in front of a store to make it easier on them. I do have a problem with those who are perfectly healthy doing it simply because they don't want to walk from the back of the parking lot. No, you cannot always tell who has a disability and who doesn't and thus it may be hard to differentiate the two. I have a problem with people who knowingly and willingly do this to avoid walking from the back of the parking lot. I think it's extremely rude and disrespectful to all customers, especially those who do have disabilities.
  17. Which is fine. I know conditions like that exist. There's a golfer who has something like that they had a big story about a few years back because he wanted to play on the PGA Tour and they wouldn't let him use a cart. Casey Martin I think his name was. You know full well that some of those people are just straight up lazy and have no health problems at all though.
  18. I hear you there. I swear the parking stalls at the place I golf are about a foot smaller than a normal stall. All the cars are packed in like sardines and you have to be really careful not to dent the BMW or Escalade on either side of you. Good thing my car is only worth a few thousand dollars.
  19. When I can watch them hop out of the car and walk without the aid of a walker, cane, etc. and see them having no problems moving, they are too lazy. A lot of times it's Daddy dropping Mom and a bunch of kids too, and none of them has any problem walking.
  20. Pam Ward. People that stop in front of stores to let people out because they're too lazy to walk. Along those same lines, people who park in the fire lanes in front of stores and wait for someone to come out. There are plenty of friggin' parking spaces. Going into WalMart and not being able to understand anyone. The employees or the customers. Michigan.
  21. You have to be kidding me. I think this was the funniest show yet. I was laughing out loud through pretty much the whole thing. "Oh, Oscar's roomate!.... do you think he knows?" The part about the old guy who says something along the lines of "I had sex with lots of women in the 60s, and in the mud. A guy could have slipped in there too. And there would be no way of knowing."http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif "You don't call ******* @#%$..." "What? Gaydar? Oooohhhh, right, I think they have that at Sharper Image. Let me check for you. Oooo....sorry...all sold out."
  22. Semis and dump trucks that drive in the far left lane on highways, especially when there are no exits on the left side. They accelerate at the speed of a turtle and during the am and pm rushes, they slow down the whole left lane since it takes them so long to accelerate in stop and go traffic.
  23. On the topic of long lines at WalMart, I hate when it takes longer to checkout out at a grocery store than it does to shop. Woodman's never has enough fricking cashiers on duty, no matter what time of day you're shopping. I think you meant "shopping malls." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I will never go to a shopping mall unless I absolutely have to. I do not need trendy clothes that teenagers pay way too much for, nor do I need any overpriced soap, video games, $300 sunglasses, or a new cell phone. Yup. I take the first spot I see. I don't care if it's at the end of the row or not. I'm not so lazy that I have to waste gas driving around trying to find a better spot. Exercise is good for you.
  24. Cities that take forever to plow roads/clear snow after a snowfall. Are you listening City of Madison?!?!?!? People in school at UW who take the bus from Memorial Union to the top of Bascom Hill. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  25. YES! I will never understand why someone thought that was a good idea. Even worse are those paper towel dispensers that have a long bar across the bottom of the dispenser you have to push back to get the paper towel to come out, and then the paper towel comes down IN FRONT of the bar! So now you have to reach behind the paper towel to keep pushing the bar. Not to mention that bar is really unsanitary because of all of the people who think they don't need to use soap when they "wash" their hands. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/sick.gif I hate any dispenser with a lever or button of any kind you have to push to get towels because of those people. Or more the fact that they have them for everything now, up to and including your favorite sports team or charitable cause. I saw a van once that seriously had about 15 of those ribbons on it for different things. Just makes you want to rip them all off. Sometimes you have to slow to a crawl to pull into some parking lots to avoid scraping the bottom of your car on the pavement because some idiot designed the driveway wrong. I don't move for those people. They'll get a shoulder from me if they're too stupid to realize that they need to move. Happened all the time walking to class when I was in school. Exceptions were made for football players that outweighed me by 200 pounds though. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
