  1. Did Rickie K on a good pitch by not swinging? Or was it another ump-job?
  2. By the way, endaround, that was a great graph. Can you do one for the whole game?
  3. I love watching TGJr play. I hope he matures into a fantastic Brewers center fielder. There. I said it. And I don't care what the haters think. I just like the guy.
  4. This part is satisfying... http://www.cubworld.com/category/a_cubworld_cam
  5. I sense he's going to make the most of his opportunities this year.
  6. Hey - at least Ned didn't have Gagne bat...
  7. Oh yeah. That's why I get an ulcer during baseball season. I forgot it was the Brewers...
  8. Gagne's 83 mph fastball isn't going to fool anyone!
  9. After reading that, it just seems so vindictive. Not vindicated at all. Canseco was a famous ball player. He told the horrible truth. He seemed to relish telling it. He had already made a lot of enemies, clearly, but he was rich and didn't care. He's still rich and doesn't care. He'll continue to dish out dirty stuff as long as he can. It keeps him in the spotlight. Sounds like he is a good source if you are an FBI agent. But would you want Canseco as your friend?
  10. Well, at this point, perhaps we should post this: http://www.pantagraph.com/content/articles/2007/08/02/sportsextra/doc46b26f8fab566571469373.jpg However, in Estrada's defense, frankly, he's only doing something that many on this board would love to do - telling Ned Yost where to stick it...
  11. No problem. Maybe it was me, but I never saw the scores. Anywhere. It was surprising to me. But then, a lot of things in Japan surprised me.
  12. I didn't expect team highlights, but I expected the scores. (I think sports coverage tends to be better WITH the scores.) But Japanese coverage of MLB games really included ONLY shots and descriptions of the Japanese player. Nothing else. Once Ohka was out of the game in the 6th inning, the game might as well have been sucked away in a vortex. Who cares who won. Ohka pitched today in America... Here he is. That's it. And it was the same for most of the Japanese players in the MLB. I just found it odd. I saw the Hiroshima Carp play the Nippon Ham Fighters, and the crowds were fantastic. They do care about baseball.
  13. You're right about the interest in the players, but I think the Japanese have very little interest in the teams. When I was in Japan, and struggling for Brewers coverage, I saw Brewers highlights every five days or so when Tomo Ohka would pitch, and then, it was ONLY highlights of Ohka's plays. Same with all the other Japanese players in the league. Despite all the Japanese collective sense of team ethic, I did not find that it applied to anybody outside of Japanese heritage. That's just my opinion. I can see why the MLB is trying to change that, but I'm not sure it will work.
  14. I had a vivid dream the other night. I was at the circus, and a drunken lion-tamer was whipping a lion. Suddenly, the lion attacked him, ripped his arm off, and got loose, heading for the crowd - and straight for me. I closed my eyes, expecting the worst, but when I opened my eyes, the lion was gone, and the circus had turned into Miller Park. The Brewers bullpen was in the same spot where the lion cage had been. The crazed lion had literally turned into the Bullpen. Now, what does this all mean? Perhaps it means that the bullpen is going to be wild and uncontrollable. Perhaps it means that the bullpen will be powerful, and immune to bad management. Perhaps it means nothing at all. As a side note, I did dream that the Challenger exploded the night before it happened. And I also dreamed that a massive tidal wave swept my friends off the beach three days before the Tsunami in Asia. Hmmm...
  15. Do you think Billy wants to take another position?
  16. I can't believe nobody has mentioned The Blues Brothers. There is also A Fish Called Wanda. And Tootsie is still great. I would also recommend Wag the Dog if you like politics and The Player if you like movies.
  17. I like Attanasio for many many reasons. But I noticed that he is the kind of guy who wears his nametag around his neck even when he owns the team! As a team owner, he could terrorize any employee who fails to recognize him and prevents him from wandering where he will. But he doesn't do that. http://graphics.jsonline.com/graphics/sports/brew/img/feb08/mark0223.jpg Why do you like Mark Attanasio? (added tag --1992)
  18. Branyan the manyan! Do you sometimes think Melvin did this just for Brewerfan.net?
  19. You are correct, sir! Without the TV contracts, even if they are the worst in the league, the Brewers would not be able to pay much for the players! And, of course, you'd still be listening to your Brewers games. Everybody knows who invented the lightbulb, but hardly anybody knows anything about Philo T. Farnsworth. and, of course,
  20. HINT: There's a statue of this guy in the National Capitol. He musta done something of value, eh?
  21. HINT: What he did affects EVERY team's finances. Dramatically.
  22. Anthony Michael Hall's grandfather is hilarious. But no. HINT: So he didn't pitch for the Brewers, but what he did has huge implications for the team finances.
  23. I've been wanting to do this one for a while. Does anybody know who this guy is? http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/5167/tomjames8x10cf8.gif
