  1. Murphy was asked about Yelich leading off to which he said to try to get him as many ABs as possible. What about trying to get Chourio, who led off in Games 1 and 2 and has had a far better playoff series, more ABs?
  2. I don’t need them to get to the World Series to get a little faith back, but I do at least need a series win. It is really hard to imagine continuing to be overly invested in the regular season if this ends the way I think it will on Saturday. You have to figure out a way to emotionally detach yourself a little, like I have with the Badgers. I’m not going to get there by this weekend with the Brewers though, so this one is going to sting. Today and last night had that feel of finalization and sadness that I normally get at the end of Packer and Brewer season where it almost didn’t feel like they have one more game.
  3. I’d probably have Quintana open and go 2-3 innings max. I don’t know. Quintana for 2, Mears for 1, Koenig for 1, Megill for 1, Ashby+Patrick for 3 and then Uribe for 1 gets you 9. Maybe Miz in there somewhere depending on game flow and score but I’d really rather not have to. To me, this entire season comes down to this game. I don’t care if we get swept in 4 games by the Dodgers, win this game and it was a successful season. Lose and it was just another Brewer failure, arguably the most painful in history.
  4. It’s not just statistical variance. These are human beings, not AI robots. You don’t think that the events of the last two games aren’t in their heads a little bit? You don’t think that their confidence, their mental state, their psyche is in a completely different place right now than if they had dropped the first two games and then come back to win these last two? And the same in reverse for the Cubs.
  5. I guess we should have waited for one more win before firing up this thread because Murphy has looked anything but smart since Game 2.
  6. It “feels” better than a first pitch pop up to 2nd. It’s not really any more consequential in a playoff series with days off after almost each game and short starter leashes. My summary of it would be that carrying Brandon Lockridge on the playoff roster hasn’t in any way contributed to winning the series. I believe Murphy thought he had the series won after two games. And got cute with his Game 3 lineup, rather than trying to finish the series off there. He had numerous opportunities in Game 3 to go for the offensive kill punch and didn’t do it.
  7. Momentum is not fake. There’s a reason why teams who come back from 0-2 are 10-7 in game 5.
  8. They totally had me fooled after 2 games that this time was different. I’ll give them that.
  9. Yelich is not the guy you want up in a big spot, and just because he’s been around the longest doesn’t make it so.
  10. You could see the writing on the wall for this series the moment Priester got shelled in the 1st inning yesterday. We’re going to blow it. It’s what we do. We’re two thirds of the way there.
  11. Again, you can say it’s a coincidence or whatever, but Murphy inexplicably overhauled the lineup after Games 1 and 2.
  12. He was 0 for 2. That is not fine. That is adding nothing to an offense that is doing nothing. (But was in games 1 and 2)
  13. Peralta wasn’t great but again — doesn’t matter much when you score 0 runs.
  14. As bad as it gets. Lose on Saturday, you’re chokers. I know that mean, but there’s no sugarcoating it.
  15. Turang with a .364 OBP this postseason, so he hasn’t been as bad as advertised. Oh my bad, that’s his OPS.
  16. Perkins and Frelick. That’s enough. We scored a total of 0 runs tonight. We are worried about the wrong things.
  17. Not a rule against carrying another 1st baseman.
  18. We have 6 guys on the roster that can play in the OF before you even get to Lockridge.
  19. We have zero runs. Doesn’t matter if the prime of Greg Maddux is on the mound for us.
  20. Murphy took Gasser over Myers and Lockridge over Hoskins. This man is not the genius that you think he is.
  21. His literal best case scenario was making it 5-2. You need baserunners.
  22. Sir we started Brandon Lockridge in a playoff game. You’ll get Rowdy Tellez before you get Kyle Schwarber.
  23. Thanks again for the lineup, Pat! Way to shake things up! Pocket pancakes!
