  1. Same. BA still loves the Brewers and wanted to expand his horizons nationally. I have no problem with that. He’s one of the best in professional sports. Him and the organization are both fine with his part-time role here. It's not like he left us to become the Cubs everyday play-by-play guy.
  2. Nah Porter didn’t call this game. This was Tigers/Mariners. The ump performance last night was about average.
  3. Uribe giving us two innings in length is an underrated part of this win that he is not getting enough credit for. Uribe is almost exclusively a 1 inning guy and has only gone 2 innings once since 2023. But he took the ball with a slim lead and with reminders of last year in our head, he gave us no drama whatsoever, shutting the door soundly on the Cubs with two innings that were low stress enough that I would expect him to be available on Monday and Tuesday.
  4. Game 3 is on the road. I would prefer to keep Miz pitching at home. There’s no great options for LA, but Quintana and Myers come to mind.
  5. Remember that we thought one of the disadvantages of playing the Cubs versus the Padres was that it would nullify a lot of the home field advantage? As it turned out, HFA was EVERYTHING this series. We aren’t moving on if we weren’t the ones at home 3 times. I’m certain of that. These teams are so evenly matched. 9-9 this year I believe. Great to see what we did in the regular season pay off and matter in the playoffs.
  6. I felt so relieved when they got out of it, but in the moment, Ashby down 3-1 to Tucker, one ball away from bases loaded nobody out, was the most dread and anxiety that I felt during this game.
  7. I thought it was a mistake that they didn’t go to the bench for Ortiz with the bases loaded. We’ll never know if Bauers hits a Grand Slam there, or also gets out anyway. I am ok with that.
  8. I still think Ashby will be on the NLCS roster. Gasser is almost certainly not going to be.
  9. I actually think they’re a lot better positioned in part because of what they experienced this series, in the end I think they benefited more from this going all the way than a 3 game sweep. You can’t substitute the experience of the road game hostility that they went through in Game 4.
  10. One thing I did definitely not expect tonight - not one single substitution.
  11. Yeah I agree. You have to rest him for game 1 but I would probably have him throw a few innings in Game 2. My faith in playoff Ashby is pretty shaken right now although he did make one of the most important singular pitches today. Every other pitcher was fantastic today.
  12. No matter what happens, the monkey is off our back. We aren’t the chokers who can’t win a playoff series. It's over. And that’s going to give all these guys more confidence going forward. Also, I’m not saying we win the NLCS, but I’ll say one thing — I think we are going to be a better team for what we went through in Games 3 and 4 this series. And hopefully a better road team.
  13. I am so freaking happy. I don’t even care what happens next week. I know I will feel differently next week.
  14. You have two runs tonight because Blake Perkins and Joey Ortiz are your 8/9 hitters and you have given them repeated opportunities to hit in high leverage scoring situations tonight. If you lose this game, that is the story.
  15. Needed for what? There is literally no bigger opportunity than coming up with the bases loaded.
  16. I’d rather be up 4-1 with Mona than have Joey’s defense up 2-1.
  17. Literally the one time all year I wanted Murphy to go to Jake Bauers in the worst way and he stuck with Ortiz. I will feel sick if that comes back to haunt us.
  18. Has nothing to do with Turang’s postseason performance or being “soft”. Pomeranz is a lefty killer. I was hoping we’d stack some RHB against him in the 1st.
  19. Pomeranz is pretty strictly a 1 inning guy. So with Vaughn at #5 you probably won’t even benefit from him facing Pomeranz, you’ll likely see a righty on the mound and have burned the first ABs of Turang and Yelich against a lefty specialist. Yeah, I just don’t like this strategy at all.
  20. Unfortunately because of Chourio’s hammy it sounds like him in CF is out of the question right now.
  21. You’re not going to start Bauers over Vaughn especially with a lefty opener. He’ll get into the game in some capacity later.
  22. So we have two lefties in our top 4 against Pomeranz, including Turang batting #2… (sigh)… guess we can forget about jumping out to a great start tonight. Ortiz at SS, so still have the black hole of Perkins/Ortiz at 8/9. At least Chourio is leading off. J Chourio (R) LF B Turang (L) 2B W Contreras (R) C C Yelich (L) DH A Vaughn (R) 1B S Frelick (L) RF C Durbin (R) 3B B Perkins (S) CF J Ortiz (R) SS
