  1. End, is this the bundle you are referring to? Best Buy seems to have a similar bundle, but for some reason theirs appears to come with a 512mb hard drive, instead of the 20gb one that is offered in the wal-mart bundle. Is this bundle specific to wal-mart (with the 20gb) or just for a limited time, or am I just looking in the wrong place on the best buy site? http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=7934351 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp;jsessionid=WZJM0FGXODYKPKC4D3JVAFQ?skuId=8492838&st=xbox+360&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1186003685732 edit: errrr....is the 512mb memory that is mentioned on the Best Buy site the RAM or something? I guess that would make more sense, but in the best buy product summary they speak nothing of the hard drive size, so I guess that's why I'm confused. Thanks in advance.
  2. Okay, so I'm sure there have been 100 of these threads before, but, I looked through the old threads and it seems like they are always coming out with different versions and hardware, so, I want to be sure I am reading the most up-to-date advice from you guys. For years I've been a PS2 guy, in fact I'm still plugging away on my first-gen circa 1999 PS2 that has never let me down. That said, it's time to step up and buy myself an X-mas present of my own, and I decided I'm gonna make the big switch to Xbox, more specifically, an Xbox 360. Like I said, I'm a PS2 guy and have never really played a standard Xbox, let alone the 360, for more than 10 minutes at a time in a store, or here and there, but from everything I've read, the 360 seems superior to the PS3. I'm not crazy about the Xbox controller layout, but I guess it'll grow on me, just like the PS2's did. So anyways, I'm pretty set on the 360 over the PS3, so I don't mean for this thread to be a debate between the two, I just want to know what I should be looking for in a 360. My gaming habits are mostly sports games (specifically Madden, college football, and baseball) and some first-person shooter games, but I prefer those on the PC. I'm not really into online play, 90 percent of my gaming time is spent in 1 player modes on sports games working on a franchise or dynasty against the computer. So, can I get away with just getting the Arcade version for $279? Or should I step up to one of the "elite" systems? Will I really use the 20gb hard drive? If so, how? Or is the 256mb on the Arcade version enough for me? Finally, if it makes any difference, I'll be using it with my 32" JVC....it's about 5 years old. I don't plan on getting an HDTV anytime in the near future, probably at least 2 years away. Any advice you can offer would be appreciated. Thank you. edit: I plan on making my purchase in the next two weeks or so if that matters.
  3. I think Bf.net should take some pride in this parade and celebration for Bill. I remember there was discussion last year (or maybe the year before) of posters contacting local Nettleton officials (and the library, I think) asking for them to do something like this. I had the opportunity to talk with Bill during spring training last year (albeit for about 3 minutes), and I mentioned to him we (bf.net posters) were trying to get Nettleton to throw him a parade. He laughed and told us to keep trying. Job well done Bf.net!
  4. This is being discussed over at badgermaniac, so some of you may have already seen it, and I don't even know if I can post this here, but I'm gonna go for it. What follows is one of those "101 question survey" type of things that are found on myspace and facebook that anyone under the age of 30 is more than familiar with. Also, check out the reader comments that follow. For what it's worth, the language of the article/survey is definitely not work friendly....but do it anyways. This can't be real, can it? http://www.everydayshouldbesaturday.com/?p=3750 I would ask to share your favorite part after reading it...but, that's probably not appropriate. Still, where can I get a * lion?
  5. See the other thread already started.
  6. $10 cash? Just don't want to be stuck with them cuz I can't use them anymore...
  7. I have two tickets for the Brewers vs. Reds on Saturday, August 18th, 6:05 pm. They are Terrace Reserved, Section 415, Row 14, Seats 7&8. I would prefer to just trade them for one of the 82 bobbles (I still need: Sutton, Gorman, Oglivie and Kuenn when it comes out). I'll trade both tickets for one of the whites, or one of the blues (and I'll throw in an extra 5 bucks for shipping of a blue). I still need blues of: Cooper, Gantner, Molitor, Sutton, Caldwell, Thomas, Oglivie and Kuenn. If you want to go the straight cash route, I'd ask $10 for the pair. Thanks, Josh edit
  8. If it isn't something with Dessens (which I think we would all prefer), my next guess is Villanueva going down, and Parra picking up Villy's innings for a few weeks.
  9. I'm trying to put together a "mix cd" of sorts of UW Football related tracks for a friend's mom. I have many of the UW band songs and Jump Around, but I'm not sure what else to add. She's a little older, so I don't know how into the rap songs they play at games she would be, but if I can find some decent edited versions, I'll throw them on there. Can you think of any other popular songs they play at all Badgers football games? Also, if possible, I'd like to include radio broadcast clips from games in 2005 and 2006, or highlight versions, does anyone know where I can download some? I tried UWbadgers.com and JS Online, but they mostly just had press conferences, and nothing I could download, just for streaming. Anyone know of a good place to check or have some Lepay clips they could send over? Thanks!
  10. I fell in love with them from their HBO special....you can usually find it on some peer downloading programs. I still listen/watch their performance of "Jenny" once a week.
  11. I second the player appearance problem. I had to bump PJ Hill up to 360 pounds and the body size and muscle sliders all the way up to see any difference in his weight. His original 240 pounds looked pencil thin. Unfortunately, I can't make his...umm...."backside" any bigger. I also don't understand why games continue to use smaller and smaller fonts. I mean, I guess they assume everyone plays on a 58" HD screen. I have a 32" non-HD JVC from about 6 years ago, and I can barely read most of the text in the recruiting menus from 8 feet away.
  12. I saw a photo of the red pants thing in some game review. I would imagine they goofed and the default home jersey is one of the alternate jerseys...I would imagine one of the alternate jerseys is the correct one and you could just play with that? I dunno, you used to be able to in Madden anyways... The game is okay so far, as with most sports games though, if you already have 2007, I don't think 2008 is a huge upgrade, especially with a college game when you're recruiting guys with made up names anyways, the turnover is so quick that the roster upgrade isn't really even worth it. The game is alright, I read in a review that the game details, at least the PS2 version, don't look as "sharp" as they did in the 2007 version. I don't know exactly why, but I kind of agree, it's not that it's fuzzy, but things just don't seem as clear as they did last year. I also hate the new "matchup" stick view thing. Last year it was easy to read, this year's is dumb and harder to read. I'd also really like the option to play a half of a game, and then sim the second half, like you can in the ESPN College b-ball games. I don't see an option for that added this year, and I thought there was going to be one. I'd also like to be able to save a game in the middle of it, but I couldn't find that anywhere this year either. The new (at least I think it's new this year) Campus Legend mode sounds pretty cool, and similar to what is available on other sports games, where you just control one player both on the field, and off the field, but if you're like me and a Dynasty guru, that mode remains mostly unchanged, which is both good and bad. I still wish they would become more in depth with historical stats. I'd love to be playing a season in 2020 and be able to look back and compare a guy's rushing stats to some player I had back in 2012, or to be able to compare top 10 career numbers at a school instead of just records. It seems to me that this wouldn't be that hard to add to a game, and would just take up some extra space on a memory card, but who cares. Long story short for the PS2 version, like most sports games, if you have last years, don't bother with this years, unless you really think you're going to dig the Campus Legend option. But, if you're a Dynasty guy like me, 50 bucks isn't really worth it for just a roster upgrade and the new "summer training" mode (similar to the attribute upgrade tasks in Madden).
  13. Definitely love the Flight of the Conchords. I caught their HBO special, probably a year and a half ago now, and I've been trying to find more stuff from them ever since. I was thrilled when I found out they were having an HBO show. I agree with the previous poster in that, I'm not always in the mood for it, it's not really something I can just have on in the background and get casual laughs from (like something on Comedy Central)...it's something I have to actively watch....but when I'm in the right mood, it's gold. Sometimes some of the songs get boring, but they're still good. The band meetings are great, with the Yoko episode being my favorite one to this point. (Was that the same episode as Jemaine going on all the dates with Bret? That was good too). How long is that BBC special? Can I download all parts from the BBC website? I'll check it out when I get some time. edit: names
  14. Hey, how'd Kevin Mench get into the ballpark last night?
  15. For those that are suggesting that if Cappy struggles tonight, he may not make his next start...I'm wondering, what are you suggesting might happen? Return to the DL? Trade? Skipped? I don't necassarily disagree with you, I'm just wondering what alternative you had in mind. I would say the idea of skipping him and giving Gallardo a start would have been a very possible solution, until Sheets went down. At this point, I think they have to ride Capuano out and hope he figures things out, unless you're suggesting giving Villanueva a start, and move Parra to long man? I suppose this would make the most sense if anything were to happen? edit: scenario.
  16. I still can't believe they are actually going to give away Carmex, and that the radio and tv announcers had to pimp the promotion like it was a great deal. I couldn't do that with a straight face. Anyways, here's to a 5-3 Brewers win tonight, no more one run wins! Doug Davis on his ovation tonight (From the Yahoo! game preview): "I don't know how the fans are going to be come Wednesday, we'll find out, but I think I did pretty good when I was here," he told Arizona's Web site. "I didn't leave as a free agent or anything. I didn't do a Carlos Lee or anything, let's put it that way."
  17. I got it yesterday as well, but for the PS2. I haven't played any games yet, just took some time yesterday to set up my dynasty (editing roster names and creating some UW and WIAC schools to replace teams from the Sun Belt). I'm looking forward to getting in a good 6 hours of game time today though, woo hoo!
  18. Surprised they didn't get at least an AFL2 team, which is (I assume) at least affiliated with the AFL. Oh well I guess.
  19. I play basketball with a group of guys at a local church in Apple-ton on Wednesday nights during the summer. We usually get 10-14 guys to play during the fall and sping months (Monday nights), but we're having trouble drawing people during the summer (softball leagues, golf leagues, family commitments, etc.). So, anyways, if anyone is looking to get out and get a little exercise, we'd be glad to have you. We play at Good Shephard Church in Apple-ton on College Ave. None of us are that good, but we get some exercise and have fun. It's a good mixture of ages, I'm in my 20's, and we have some in their 30's, 40's and a couple even in their 50's that run circles around us. The gym is nothing fancy, it's a small gym with tile floor. We usually just play pick up games to 11 or 15 and switch teams up when necessary. We try to run full court 4 on 4, but like I said, we're only drawing 5 or 6 guys during the summer so if anyone wants to come out and get some exercise and play with us, hopefully we can get up to 8 at least, until the fall months roll around and we start picking up more guys again. We play Wednesday nights around 5:15 and usually play until 6:30 or 7, depending how many guys show up. If you have any questions or want to come out and get some exercise with us, let me know via inbox or just post on here. Josh (ps....I should also mention, don't worry about it being in a church, some people that play are members of the church, some aren't. I'm not, and I've never been pressured to join the church or anything like that.)
  20. This has been brought up in the Trading Post forum. I don't recall exactly what time people were suggesting, but I do believe you're going to need to get there several hours early. If I remember right, perhaps even three or four hours early. There was also talk of them doing some sort of lottery for them, I don't know if this was true or not. Search through the Trading Post for more info, unless someone can link the thread here.
  21. I think that we could slide Big Mench into the 5 hole and not skip a beat from an offensive standpoint. Was that supposed to be in blue?
  22. I didn't know that they could test for suckage. Must have missed that in the last collective bargaining agreement. Neifi should ask whoever his supplier was for a refund. I hope he held on to the receipt. It's just too bad this didn't happen while he was still playing for the Cubs.
  23. Posted this in the other thread, copying it here for discussion or answers: I don't really see how the Luis Castillo comparison works, because as Rluz said, he stinks. However, that leads me to wonder, has Gwynn ever been tried at other positions? Mainly, could he play second base? I think one of the problems we have with Gwynn and his low OPS and beyond poor power numbers is because he plays outfield. He plays a very sound defensive outfield, and I wonder if that could translate somehow to the infield? Historically, as we know, most 2B not named Jeff Kent or Chase Utley put up numbers similar to Gwynn, decent OBP with speed at the top of the lineup (maybe hitting 2nd for some team, ala Castillo). Maybe he'd have a better chance of sticking with this team if he were able to be converted to a Counsellino type player when those guys leave.

  25. A free lottery? For the Brewers? I vote for Pedro....I'm in!
