  1. MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Washington Nationals will purchase the contract of right-hander Jason Simontacchi from Triple-A Columbus and start him against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday, the team announced. Simontacchi is 0-1 with a 5.91 ERA in two starts with Columbus. The 33-year-old Simontacchi played with the St. Louis Cardinals from 2002 to 2004, going 20-10 with a 4.77 ERA. He missed the entire 2005 season after shoulder surgery. In 2006, he was a reliever in the independent Atlantic League. He signed with Washington as a minor league free agent last December. What? Trent Durrington wasn't available? Simon says go get 'em tomorrow boys!
  2. Go Brewers! Wasn't Dmitri Young at least decent when he was with the Tigers? He had some really, really awful at-bats tonight. Looked like he didn't even care......maybe playing for the Nationals will do that to you, or maybe he's contributing just as much as the others to their suckage. I'm wondering if they go to Turnbow tomorrow if they're in a save situation. Cordero has pitched a few days in a row now, and yes, that one outing was only one pitch. However, Brian Anderson made a good point tonight when he mentioned that it's not really the one pitch he threw in the game that counts, it's that he got up in the bullpen to get loose, where he probably threw 30 pitches. Those pitches in the pen count just as much as the ones in the game, in my opinion. Plus, I'd kind of like to see what Turnbow could do tomorrow in a 9th inning situation, and use Villanueva in the 8th, if need be.
  3. Three observations: 1.) The guy from the Lipitor commercial really looks like Ned Yost +10 years. 2.) If Ned is indeed sending baserunners, someone please send him a note: "When you're playing teams that you are clearly better than, there is no reason to risk outs on the basepaths. You're better than the Pirates and Nats. Get your hits and let things work themselves out". If Bill sent himself there, I apologize to Ned. 3.) I don't know if it's physical stature, the high number of walks on the season, or the similar delivery...but boy does Chico remind me a lot of Dana Eveland.
  4. It is wrong for me to laugh out loud when Wilson makes an error? Keep on laughing good buddy, keep on laughing.
  5. Eighty-Two Brewers Keep on turnin' up the heat! Come see what's brewing!
  6. What? five-seven-five? Let's go Brewers, Beat The Bucs! Doubles streak alive!
  7. I wonder if you can trade them in at a later date for another game? Obviously you'd probably have to pay some sort of fee, but...you might be able to at least get some sort of discount out of them....I don't know...at least that's how it works with ticket packages....(though I'm unfamiliar with the Cubs procedures...) I understand why you posted it here, this is the trading post afterall...but....I can't help but think you would have gotten rid of them much quicker in the Major League or Off Topic forums...
  8. Just a few general impressions that I thought I'd share from getting some stuff signed at Spring Training last month. I heard people say that Bill Hall is one of the friendliest signers that they've come across...I'm new to autographs, but I agree, he was very friendly and laughed when I mentioned a poster here was trying to get a "Bill Hall Day" in Nettleton, and he said "keep working on it". However, by far the nicest signer that we came across was Tony Gwynn Jr. Obviously, his star power is not as big as Bill's, so he wasn't hounded as much and had a little more time, but he was always friendly and would chat with you and make jokes with the kids that were around and stuff. Seemed like a really nice guy and was still a little blown away with all the attention. Again, his name is not as big as others, heck, he's not even on the big league club, but J.D. Closser was another great signer...he signed before all 4 games that we were at. Capuano, Miller and Suppan were also extremely nice and Suppan even called the girl I was with "sweetie". Ned Yost and Doug Melvin were also kind enough to let us take pictures with and asked where we were from. While I am not making judgement as I'm sure they get all annoyed with it all after a certain point, but Craig Counsell wasn't exactly the friendliest when we were there. Not only did he not sign, but he didn't even give you a courtesy smile or say "Not today guys, sorry"....he just walked by you avoiding eye contact. As far as the minor league guys, they were all willing to give autographs, as I expected, and I was lucky enough to get stuff from Gallardo, Inman, Jeffress, Cain, Gillespie and Wahpepah. Jeffress seemed a little surprised when I asked him to sign a ball, he was just standing there by himself away from the other players watching BP and when I asked him he gave me a look, kind of like "are you sure you want me to sign this?" Anyways, those are the impressions that I came away with from AZ. Of course, I can only speak for the 4 days that we were there, and the players that we ran into during that time. (We also ran into the wives of Corey Hart and Prince Fielder...though I was too embarrassed to ask to take a picture with them)
  9. Chuckie, you have mail in your inbox...errr, at least I think you should.
  10. Just a small plug for the T-Rats gift shop. I was in the other day and they were selling a couple items that I thought were neat. Cracked game-used bats (hairline cracks) that were signed by nearly the entire team are $25 (most include signatures from Butler and Carlos Triunfel) ....also for sale were game-used batting helmets also signed by the team, those were going for $40....pretty affordable merchandise if you ask me. I picked up a bat. Team Update: Though it's only been 13 at-bats so far due to rainouts, Triunfel is hitting .385 (5 for 13) and I heard from a few guys at the stadium that not only are scouts raving about Triunfel, but so are his fellow players. They can't believe he's only 17. He does have two errors, I didn't see them, but I was told they were on throws, when most players wouldn't have even gotten to the ball in the first place. Butler has only gotten 1.1 innings of work so far, giving up a run in his only appearance. The team is 1-4
  11. Looks like Pujols pretty much crushes Sheets...let's hope he stays in his slump for one more day! Goooooooooooo Brewers!
  12. razzzor...I would assume it probably won't be on....it was probably supposed to be a repeat of the game when it was supposed to be on at the original game time today......i'd put my money on poker reruns. since FSN didn't do a broadcast today...here's to hoping they add one later in the season to make up for the advertising missed and such.
  13. All alone in first place! small sample size..... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  14. That was fun. Thank you Brewers. Thank you Brewer fans, until tomorrow!
  15. The Braun-Tracker is gonna look mighty impressive tomorrow....what's the over/under on his OPS going into tomorrow's game thread? 7 million? infinity?
  16. Thanks to the few of you out of state that can actually see a TV feed tonight....any help you can provide us would be much appreciated, http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. I've always been partial to Yahoo's gametracker thing and just their updating box scores every 30 seconds or so......It's nothing too fancy...but I guess that's the way I like it.... I heard ESPN has a nice one now that shows a scroll bar with player splits during at-bats, I haven't checked it out though...
  18. yfinn, it shouldn't be, the radio broadcasts aren't subject to blackout rules like tv broadcasts are, plus you should be able to find a radio broadcast for all 162 games, as opposed to the 125 or so that are on tv...makes a nice companion later in the season for those day games that won't be on tv.
  19. For those struggling to get a signal for tonight's game, here's a quick reference: Brewers Radio Network Affiliate List Try different ones if your local one isn't coming in, for some odd reason, I live in Apple-ton, but the FM broadcast from Sturgeon Bay (93.9, about 60 miles away) always comes in better than the AM broadcast (1150, Apple-ton station, 3 miles away) in my apartment. Not to mention, 620's signal always comes in much better than 1150 as well, but afterall, they are the biggest stick in the state! I'll be listening to Ueck and Jim tonight while watching the Twins game on mute on extra innings....still disappointing, but it could be worse.....we could be sitting Hall in favor of Chris Magruder tonight...and I could be forced to actually have to watch it.
  20. yfinn, I'm pretty sure 620 never streams sports broadcasts, as MLB/NFL/NBA etc has official stream rights of games. Though, you can buy an all access pass on MLB.com which allows you to listen to any game on the radio, $14.95 for the season is not a bad deal if you can't find a radio that works.
