  1. because Weeks never produced at this level in the Minors for this extended of a period. That does not mean Gamel or LaPorta won't be a bust tho, just like the Brewers making the playoffs, they are not sure things
  2. I understand you logic....I really do, I just disagree (obviously http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif). As fans we really want this in the worst way. I don't think taking a gamble with Laporta or Gamel is a risk I'm willing to take if I'm Doug Melvin. Well since you hate Rickie Weeks, how do we know Gamel or LaPorta won't be Rickie Weeks version 2?
  3. The more and more I hear people talk about this trade, the more and more It gets me nervous. I want this to happen SO bad. Having Sheets and Sabathia go back to back in the rotation would be a dream. However losing such good talent down the road sucks as well. Whatever Doug Melvin does im going to be happy with it.
  4. We won't make the playoffs with a rotation of Sheets Parra Suppan McClung Bush Im sorry, we just won't. And if we made the playoffs this year, having Sheets and Sabathia atop of the rotation gives us a REAL chance to win the whole thing. That's 2 Ace's we could match with anyone (Including Webb and Haren)
  5. I'm here because I'm a fan of the team....I just don't think we're a playoff team this year....alright with you? I also don't think aquiring Sabathia would drastically improve our team. Now if you're talking about trading Rickie Weeks for Brian Roberts or something like that...I'm down. We need a lead off hitter...that will drastically improve our team. 1 starting pitcher is not going to "catapult" us to the playoffs. But we are not talking about trading Rickie Weeks for Brain Roberts. That 1 starting pitcher won the Cy Young last year in the AL. Sheets and Sabathia would be one of the best 1-2 punches in the NL. It would also help out the Brewers bullpen by moving a starter that we currently have and move him to the pen. We still have half a season to go. Getting Sabathia would increase our chances alot.
  6. we sure aren't large market.....who's the last "big name" free agent we signed long term? Hammonds, Suppan????? We can't compete with big clubs for big money...plain and simple. We need to develop from within and acquiring Sabathia is far from guarenteeing anything. If we aquired Sabathia and we didn't make the playoffs (which we won't) I'd drive to Milwaukee and kick Melvin right in the pills. Ryan Braun seems like a good player we signed long term. And just because we don't sing guys to stupid amount of money does not mean we can't compete. And if you don't think we will make the playoffs, why are you even here? I think we have a good shot making the playoffs with Sabathia. It sure would help.
  7. The worst part of the Philly loss was because it was at home.
  8. Thats pretty awesome, Yeah maybe I have as well gone overboard and turned this into the "C.C. Sabathia excitement Thread" So I also apologize.
  9. Even if it is jet-lagged, I will tell myself anything I want to keep me intersted in this story. This is really exciting stuff
  10. NEW STUFF!! Its 1:50am so obviously something is going down IMO. He seems like he needs to take a chill pill
  11. Look like the vent thread is the place to be
  12. fixed http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. Don Sutton Rick Sutcliffe
  14. I have not left my computer since like 9 central time. I want this to happen SO bad. Nothing new probably won't happen tonight but that still does not make me less excited.
  15. Ok, I was just wondering. Im not THAT old http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. Have the Brewers ever made a big trade like this at the deadline before?
  17. Oh my god I forgot about Volzquez. Wow, ok we will give them Turnbow AND Bush just because I screwed up.
  18. Bruce, Harang, Cordero (with the Reds paying all his salary) for Hall, Mota and Gwynn. Works for me
  19. CC would also help the offense http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. My fav Doug quote was... "Asked about Cleveland having interest in specific players in his system, Melvin said, "I can't comment on that. There's probably a lot of clubs looking at our guys." Here in Milwaukee our prospects are better than yours, and we know it
  21. OH MY GOD. Is that all Maddux and Yost think is wrong with everyone one of our RP? anyways... http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080702&content_id=3053033&vkey=news_mil&fext=.jsp&c_id=mil
  22. I would LOVE McClung in the 8th inning role, seriously. He would throw harder because he would only have to pitch one inning.
  23. I think Brewer fans are really Lucky when it comes to prospects (recently) Fielder Braun Hart Gallardo (Pre Injury) Hardy Its possible that LaPorta or Escobar or Gamel or Jeffress or Salome or Green could turn out to be not as good as we think they will be.
