    Corey Hart has nothing on what Carlos Beltran has done in his career...not just THIS season. Hart will never be the player Beltran was.

    But talking about the players in general, contracts and future contracts aside, Beltran is a better baseball player than Corey Hart. As we stand right now for the 2011 season, yes. A year from now after he's gotten paid? Questionable. He's no spring chicken, and he's been injured/pedestrian the past few years- obviously, he's playing for a contract right now. Simply put Hart locked in for next 2 seasons >>>>>>> 2 month Beltran rental I said simply comparing the PLAYERS, Beltran is a better BASEBALL PLAYER than Corey Hart. I understand Hart's contract, I understand Beltran's. No one's disputing that, whatsoever. I don't think it's "obvious" he's playing for a contract right now. Look at his stats when healthy after the contract the Mets gave him. It's not like the dude quits or has been bad...like Hart this year after his contract.

    I assume all things really comes down to one being a rental, because Beltran's so clearly a superior player to Hart.He's been better this season in a contract year, but he's old and has been injured a ton the past few years. I certainly would rather have Hart for the next two seasons at what he is signed for than Beltran. For this season, Beltran will make about as much from this point forward as Hart will the entire year. Beltran is aging and overpaid, and I don't think that it's a stretch to project Hart putting up better numbers for the rest of this season, 2012 and 2013. We aren't even factoring in the haul the Mets want in return for him. I would want no part in signing Beltran after this season either.But talking about the players in general, contracts and future contracts aside, Beltran is a better baseball player than Corey Hart.

    If it's Olney's theory, and we don't give up a whole lot, then I'm fine with that. Why wouldn't you want a guy who's batting nearly .300 with 16 HR's in your outfield? It would make our lineup that much more dangerous. Don't rip me apart BF!

    This is the best post: Karmaloop I'm pretty sure Thornburg, the Brewers representative in the Future's Game, will be included in this deal. Also heard their first baseman they drafted last year might be included, Hunter Morris. Again, if a player in the futures game was involved, it would have been named right away so the Mets could save face. This was about money. Correction...this is the best post.
