  1. What's the one moment that stands out in your mind? It can be good, bad, anything. For me, it's a tie. Braun's home run in St. Louis a few days ago is one of them. And the moment that still gives me the chills (even though we lost) is Branyan's 9th inning, 2 out, game tying HR off Joe Nathan. To throw someone out there like that on pure power, just to give us a little ray of hope, and for it to happen, was just incredible. What about you guys?
  2. I definitely have noticed that as well. Although, you can't really blame him too much because the fans (no BF.net, I'm not blaming the fans) are still somewhat cheering for the HR, almost anticipating another one because it's Prince. I'm sure there's a lot of adrenaline rushing through him in those situations. I've had somewhat of a theory all year that it's possible Prince is still real unhappy and not playing to his full potential due to the contract situation at the start of the year. I'm sure that's been mentioned here before, but that's always running through my head. I'm in the boat that we should trade him after this season if there's no contract situation resolved. The least he could do is tell Melvin that he wants to be in Milwaukee and will give the Brewers a fair shot once he hits free agency. Unfortunately, with Scott Boras at the helm, I find that very unlikely. And by the time Prince hits free agency, Giambi should be close to, if not, retired. I see him as a long term DH anyway. If you could trade him and another prospect for a nice, young arm (Lincecum and Santana are two that come to mind) I'd be all for it. The Giants need a face to their franchise, so that could be a big hit for them.
  3. All we would need then is to acquire someone and have them walk in to Miller Park the same way Kevin Mench did.
  4. It gives the Brewers a swagger too. The Cubs are known for their swagger. The Derrek Lee hop after a home run. The Aramis Ramirez stare. The Alfonso Soriano pose. That's what gets you to be feared. The fact that Braun did that is awesome. It'll give us more publicity on ESPN, and makes more of a dramatic feel to it.
  5. My best friend got the Braun ball (was wearing a Gallardo jersey t-shirt). Anyway, I was there tonight. Energy was unbelievable. Went home happy with a win and a newly purchased Sabathia jersey t-shirt.
  6. The best thing we can hope for is that this is somewhat of a similar effect to the Western Conference in the NBA last year. The Lakers started the ripple effect of moves by first acquiring Pau Gasol. That started all the trades for other teams (Kidd to Dallas, Shaq to Phoenix, etc.). But it was Gasol who easily had the biggest impact on his team.
  7. We already had tickets for this game to celebrate my brother's birthday. Hopefully I can get there early enough to get one of those. Does anyone think they'll have a short amount and sell out right away?
  8. ESPN mentioned in the CC trade article last night that Gallardo's rehab was going along very well and that it's a 4 month process and there's a chance he could return late in the season. Doug Melvin was just asked about it in the news conference and said it was "too early to tell". What do you think the chances are of him returning? Imagine this rotation...Sheets/Sabathia/Gallardo/Parra/Suppan That's easily the best rotation in baseball. We can only hope.
  9. I agree. I'd rather see us make the big move to go for it all this year, rather than missing the playoffs by 2 games and making you think "what if?" Not to mention, this may be the best team we would've put together than we could've even with LaPorta the next couple years. I'd rather see team and playoff success rather than individual success at the big league level. So what if he becomes a stud? We took the chance we had to take. Just be glad we didn't give up Gamel and run. Who knows how the team will be a few years from now with LaPorta, the Brewers did the right thing, and easily made the right PR move.
  10. Buster Olney on SportsCenter: Indians and Brewers moving closer to deal. In trade talks, they're at the "10 yard line". Dodgers have nothing. Rays aren't serious. Phillies are lurking in shadows. And they just interrupted with Breaking News, Jonny Damon put on DL. Unbelievable. Ironic as well, considering yesterday I made a sarcastic comment saying how I was surprised the CC story is above the Damon injury on ESPN.
  11. This is the Randy Moss to Green Bay situation all over again. So depressing.
  12. This is the closest I've been watching an Indians regular season game in a long time.
  13. Baseball Tonight on right now. Breaking news on Sabathia. They said Indians and Brewers are thinking differently. Brewers are building around LaPorta with no other significant AA prospect. Indians want another stud with LaPorta from AA.
  14. Latest rumor recap from brewers.com: http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080705&content_id=3071044&vkey=news_mil&fext=.jsp&c_id=mil
  15. Unbelievable win tonight. Now let's move back to Sabathia.
  16. I'm surprised ESPN is actually covering this pretty strongly. I'd expect the Sabathia to Brewer talks to be 2nd tier next to Damon's injury.
  17. I think in a way this is an entirely different situation. St. Louis was just looking to get rid of an injury plagued Rolen, and their asking price was too extreme. Even some Brewers fans were unsure if they wanted to take the chance on Rolen, not only because of his injury issues, but also because of his poor attitude in the past. The Indians are looking to trade one of the best pitchers in baseball. In this situation, the Brewers know what they're getting. They're getting a 19 win Cy Young award winning pitcher. Nothing to take a chance on here, when you almost know that he's going to make the team better. We had no idea how it would be with Rolen.
  18. Everytime I get back to the house, I end up checking this forum right away hoping to see something. I want this to happen so bad.
  19. Olney says a deal should be done fairly soon. Said Indians and Brewers are in deep talks.
  20. Just letting you guys know that the Sabathia situation will be the top story on the 5 PM SportsCenter.
  21. I used to be pretty good friends with his son (when he was at Arrowhead first half of freshman year)
  22. Yeah I think Kapler's is "Soldier" by Eminem.
