  1. Your assumption is simply not true. Houston this season has 8 players averaging at least 2.8 3's a game (who played at least 1/2 the season). Here are their 3pt % compared to their careers: Do you still think it's the players and not the scheme and coaching? If Snell played for Houston he'd be shooting 6 3's a game.
  2. https://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2013/7/18/4522508/who-deserves-credit-for-throwing-out-base-runners Ok, so then, you are saying that Vogt's arm isn't that bad? I get it, pitchers have a certain amount of responsibility when it comes to guys taking bases, but seriously, there is no defense when it comes to Vogt's arm. It is not good. I'm saying you're greatly overrating 1) How bad his arm was 2) How it was all his fault and 3) This grandiose idea that everyone ran all over him -- he caught 270 innings last year in Milwaukee and gave up 27 SBs with 4CS. So, less than one a game. 4) His bat easily makes up the difference between his arm and Jett Bandy's.

  4. I remember that game! Scoreboard had the wrong score up the entire game. Can only imagine what would've happened had the Brewers scored 2 in the 9th. Wow. Wikipedia comes through again: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk%3AFourth_out
  5. PLAYER 3PA/G 3PM/G % James Harden 3.7 10.0 36.7 Eric Gordon 3.2 8.8 35.9 Gerald Green 2.7 7.3 36.9 Chris Paul 2.5 6.5 38.0 Trevor Ariza 2.5 6.9 36.8 Ryan Anderson 2.0 5.1 38.6 TOTAL TEAM 15.3 42.3 36.2 BUCKS 8.8 24.7 35.5 Yep. None of those guys are "shooters", at least whatever the definition of "shooter" is. If it's someone who shoots a lot of 3 pointers, well, that's their SYSTEM not the players. Those guys have literally been coached for 2 years to "let it fly".
  6. How many shooters does Houston have around Harden and Paul?
  7. Apologies if I came off as snarky, I was truly trying to say that all our options at 2B currently are bad, it's my biggest disappointment with the off season.... maybe they knew Dubon was all-but ready and plan to bring him up in a few weeks once he gets beyond Super-2.
  8. I don't buy that at all. I'm no Kidd fan, but he never had a problem with guys taking a 3. Snell took plenty of 3s in the playoffs, just couldn't make any. Again, I do believe a new coach/offense will help with guys like Brogdon. But they need 4-6 guys who can bury a 3 like most other teams. The Bucks don't have that now, they just don't. Middleton, Snell, Brogdon, Jabari, Delly, Sterling Brown. That's an easy 6. Not listed: Thon, Teletovic, Terry. Jason Kidd ran an archaic offense that didn't encourage players to shoot 3's. They were 5th from the bottom in 3's attempted and were 22nd in 3pt percentage, which was dragged down by their 2 their top 5 shooters by volume being really, really bad at it (Bledsoe and Giannis).
  9. They have plenty of shooters. Their coach spent 4 years telling them not to shoot and telling them "The closer to the hoop you are the more dangerous you are." This coach who had no idea the difference between a good decision and a good result. Snell went from a guy who was looking to fire up every 3 he got to being completely scared to shoot the ball.
  10. He has a .158 BABIP with a 26% LD%. He's been incredibly unlucky. Compare that to Villar who has a .390 BABIP and an 18% LD%..... so, he's been as lucky as you can be. Go ahead though, use his batting average as the catalyst to DFA him after less than 60 PA's.
  11. You're really talking about WPA (Win Probability Added) in your second paragraph. Hader is already at 1.44 WPA this season per fangraphs, which puts him 4th in baseball. While his player leverage index has him as the 51st highest leverage reliever across baseball..... so, in reality, Counsell could still use him even more effectively.
  12. Ted Williams was an absolutely horrible hitting coach. While hitting coaches might not change the way a player swings or his abilities at the plate, what they can do is change a players approach. Right now, the Brewers are exactly average on how often they swing at the first pitch -- uncannily exactly matching MLB's 27.8% of PA's where they swung at the first pitch. The problem is, the Brewers during those PA's, have a .616 OPS, a 74 OPS+ compared to the MLB average (.711) in those situations. So, the Brewers first pitch swinging approach needs to change. "Only swing if you can drive the pitch" should be the mantra. The Brewers have a .782 OPS when they swing at the first pitch and put it into play. The MLB Average is .871.
  13. They are getting below average production from 5 of their 8 positions. C, 2B, SS, LF and RF. It's no wonder they are struggling to score runs.
  14. Why not just make it a rule and require it? I still can't believe they haven't made pitchers wear something more than a cap on their head.
  15. Who, the first baseman?
  16. Big Game Big Game Big Game Big Game. Twitter is saying Henson didn't make the trip to Boston. We shall see if the bench energy can stay up in Boston.
  17. Yes. They switched almost everything both games. Stopped switching a little bit in the 3Q of game 4, and Boston rallied back.
  18. His unabashed love of the game was always such a joy during broadcasts. I'll miss Davey.
  19. I've now sent a 5th e-mail to a very nice woman who keeps informing me that she's my mother and keeps sending me pictures of her grandkids (my second cousins, apparently) She doesn't seem to understand that I am not her child and that she has the wrong e-mail address.
  20. The roster, despite the failings of the front office, has the core talent to compete. They just have no semblance of an offense or any solid defensive principals. Or any fundamentals. The problem is, they've had 4 years of bad offensive philosophy and demotivating performances drilled into their brains by the idiot former head coach and coaching staff. They are running a mid 1990's offense, which is completely ineffective in the modern NBA, because illegal defense doesn't exist. Simply having a coherent offensive scheme and goals would be make this team infinitely better. Also, after spending YEARS building a swiss army knife of a defense where they could have the players switch on everything.... they still DON'T run the type of defense that would be best for their players. Watch Boston attack the weakest defenders on the floor with a series of screens and movements designed specifically to get those players to mess up (this happens every time down the court when Jabari is in the game). Then watch the Bucks go entire possessions without setting more than 1 screen.
  21. I'm tired of "That's the way it's always been" being justification for anything.
  22. I know, right? https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2015/05/03/ron-roenicke-fired-as-manager-of-the-brewers/26852463/ (okay, so maybe 25 games is different?)
  23. I believe it. There is clearly something in that locker room that is total cancer. Bledsoe was not here the previous times the Bucks have played well (sans Parker being around), so it most likely is not him. Every time Jabari is hurt this team plays MUCH better than it does when he is active. Jabari will be out of the league in a few years if something doesn't change soon. On another note, every time I watch Derrick Rose it makes me sad knowing what he once was...he literally has nothing left in his body and it shows in how he plays. It's good that we didn't sign him, but that makes me ONCE AGAIN question the ability of this organization to make solid basketball decisions. I mean this is obvious to see, doesn't take a rocket scientist at this point...I recall us being very close to signing him last offseason...... This team chose DeAndre Liggins over Gerald Green. THIS SEASON.
  24. 1) Kawhi isn't a free agent this off season. 2) The Bucks are capped out this off season, even without re-signing Parker. They will only have the Mid-Level exception and Vet Minimums to play with. 3) You cannot backload contracts in the NBA when players want the max.
  25. I want Nick Nurse, he helped redesign Toronto's offense, and got DeRozan to buy into changing his game for the better. Also, the Bucks are so clueless. How Alexander Lasry still represents the team on twitter baffles me.
