  1. Who knows, they might like something about this particular matchup, someone might have gotten banged up last night, etc. All of the position players on the roster are going to make it into the starting lineup at times.
  2. I've been switching between baseball and hockey and with the 6:40 starts the baseball games are easily finishing ahead of 7:10 hockey games which is super weird. I actually wish they would go back to 7:10 start times now, which is a strange thing to say. Football is kind of the odd sport out now with 3-3.5 hours games. I wonder if fans are going to notice this fall.
  3. He could have gotten back if he would have froze when he saw it was hit in the air.
  4. In spring training, Scherzer was purposely doing two throws over to bait the runner into taking a bigger lead.
  5. I hate the idea of trading away young talent. Yelich is a sunk cost, the last thing we need is for his existence on the roster to influence what we do with the young guys. If all Yelich can do is play DH with a .750 OPS, then we should look to see if we can get someone to take him in exchange for us only having to pay 80 or 90% of his remaining contract. Or even 95% of his contract. In the short term, we need to hope that he produces. If there's a roster logjam, he should be the first to go.
  6. If Yelich has some success this year (a big IF), I wonder if we can try to dump his contract. Obviously we'll have to eat a big chunk of salary, but it would be nice to get rid of that one and move on to the young guys.
  7. Remember when the national media was giving us crap for not resigning Renfroe? LOL.
  8. This is the kind of content that guarantees a 1-2-3 inning.
  9. Team of current Brewers > Team of former Brewers + some expensive guys
  10. Turang is such a throwback, I love watching him play.
  11. There are ways of making MLB.tv think that you live in Texas...
  12. I like what I'm seeing from Winker so far this year.
  13. Same same. I pretty much only watch the weekday day Brewers games so I haven't seen them play since Thursday in Chicago. All I've seen from the weekend is the box scores and briefly reading parts of the IGT here.
  14. This was pretty incredible last night: https://streamable.com/ylu1se Karinchak (notoriously one of the slowest pitchers in MLB last year) shakes off Zunino a few times on an 0-2 count and gets a pitch clock violation. That wouldn't have been a big deal, but he airmails the next pitch which causes the crowd to smell blood and start loudly counting down the pitch clock. He ends up walking Crawford, hits Kolten Wong (which further fires up the crowd, and finally gives up a 3-run HR to Ty France to blow the game. Fantastic stuff. Similar to that time the Pirates fans rattled Johnny Cueto in the wild card game.
  15. They might end up playing my team (the Kraken) in the first round, where they will have a massive goaltending advantage.
  16. Not an inspiring performance but less painful than losing 1-0.
  17. I was just thinking the same thing! Days like this are when it's advantageous to cheer for two MLB teams...I'm heading out for Mariners' opening night in a few hours, so the day can still be salvaged.
  18. Agreed, easy to blame the stupid Chicago weather. Stroman looks all over the place as well but got some luck and some key assists from the ump.
  19. This isn't going to get overturned, but it buys Burnes some time to calm down.
  20. To be fair, Winker was pretty terrible last year other than his high OBP. If the scouting report says to throw him strikes, he's going to have to figure out how to hit the ball.
  21. Perfect example of how having a fast guy on base can really disrupt a pitcher with the new clock.
