  1. I really don't like this idea at all. What are they going to do with him? Keep him at 1B and then do what with Hunter Morris if he keeps hitting at AAA in '13 like he did in AA in '12? Move him to RF where he doesn't belong on the wrong side of 30?
  2. Now we need to go to extra innings so Braun has a chance at the cycle not sure if that should be in blue or not.
  3. In no order Game 5 NLDS last year Game 4 NLDS in 2008 Robin's 3000th hit, even though I was too young to completely understand at the time Steve Woodard's MLB debut when he outdueled Roger Clemens for a 1-0 win. He gave up a leadoff double to Otix Nixon, then only gave up 1 bb the rest of the way, went 8IP with 12 k's. That game really sticks out to me, first game of a double header vs the Blue Jays that day.
  4. Blown save time! Anyone know if a team has been swept in a 3 game series with each game having the same score?
  5. He had 136 2/3 IP last year and he is at 85 1/3 this year. I would think it's safe to say he should be able to be bumped up to 150-160 IP this year, which should lead to 180-190 hopefully in 2013. If they are able to get him 70 IP the rest of the way, I guess I am a little more OK with this move. Maybe 60 IP the rest of the way with the Brewers (a few 1IP appearances, a couple 2-3IP appearances and a few starts?), then an Arizona Fall League appointment? I just think he should be focusing on getting through a lineup more than once or twice, that's my rationale for wanting him to stay in AAA.
  6. Why not just leave him in AAA then? I'm so sick of the decisions this management has made. Always short term thinking with gigantic blinders towards the future.
  7. I would hope they would never think of trading Green for Pastornicky straight up. I just don't think he's all that good, feel like he has an Izturis type career in his future.
  8. Don't like it at all. All of those HS arms with huge upside and pass up on them 3 times, especially Smoral. A OF with no patience at the plate, great.
  9. I'm hoping for Roache, huge power and possibly easier sign, and Smoral here. Then another HS arm at 38.
  10. Has there been any news as to what's going on with D'Vo? Also, what does Seth Harvey throw? Does he have the "stuff" to possibly make it to the bullpen at some point?
  11. It would have shown he has the team's back. The only way I could have seen a pitcher get thrown out in that situation was if he hit the batter in the shoulders or above. He never gave any team a warning, and why would a team want to hit a batter in the 9th inning of a 15 run game? He wanted to use a mop-up pitcher to get through the rest of the game without using a RP that is actually used in close games, so why risk that? I would think a side-armer coming in on a right hander isn't that out of the ordinary, seeing as how when he lets the ball goes, it's pretty much coming at the batter already. The ejection by the umpire was just assinine, and RR coming back to the dugout with his tail between his legs shows where this team gets its personality from.
  12. Wow, does Roenicke not have any balls? How do you let an ump toss your pitcher in the 9th inning in a 15 run game and not get tossed yourself?
  13. I completely agree with Adam. I think that's my main complaint about Melvin. It seems like every year they "try to go for it" even if the team is more than a few pieces away. It's not bad to go into a season, hoping for the best, but having a roster of a few guys breaking in and then eyeing the following season to really go for it, instead of overpaying stop-gap pieces to look like they have a legit shot of winning that current year. I don't want to turn this into a trade rumors/ideas thread, but the Rangers have to be thinking about dealing Jurickson Profar as they have Kinsler and Andrus for the forseeable future. What would it take for the Brewers to get him? Would Greinke-Profar work if the Brewers don't think they'll resign him? I'm guessing the Rangers might not even do that, as they'd receive no FA compensation for him.
  14. Hey guys, don't mean to hijack the thread, but I could use a little help tomorrow. I'm in a league behind Riverside high school, intersection of Oakland and Locust, and we could use a OF or two tomorrow, Saturday May 12 at 4:00pm. It is a wooden softball league, no metal spikes. Games take about an hour and 15 minutes. If you could help out, or are interested but have questions before, please PM me, or call/text my cell at 920-493-8080. Thanks! - Matt
  15. I think the Roenicke extension is horrible. He has shown no signs of giving younger guys a shot at all. How is a team like the Brewers going to be successful when the manager won't play the young/cheap guys? I'm also a bit skeptical of Melvin at this point. Going into the season with Gonzalez the only real SS anywhere near the MLB roster was just plain stupid, especially when the two infield bench players were Ishikawa and Izturis. If he was going with Gonzalez at SS, why wasn't a guy like JHJ brought back, who could actually fill in at 3b/ss/2b with a decent bat? I understand he signed a 2 year $6M deal with LAD, but if you're going to role the dice on a 35 year old SS, why not bring in another 35 year old with a bat to back him up. Also, could have then not signed Aramis and let him and Green get the ab's at 3B. Oh wait, we have a manager who won't play young players. Sorry for the rant, but I do not like how Roenicke manages and don't like how it seems Melvin and him aren't on the same page with players and playing time with some.
  16. Not good at all, I think they'll be looking for a new 1b. ACL? tweaked? hyper extended?
  17. I think the compensation goes for how the teams receiving the picks finished in the standings, nothing to do with the player who left.
  18. What picks do the Brewers get with him going to Detroit?
  19. Not that this really matters for anything, just found it really interesting on how some WAR (especially Upton, Stanton, and McCann) were close and some were much further apart. Player BR FG WAR WAR Brian McCann 2.5 3.7 Mitch Moreland -0.2 0.4 Rickie Weeks 3 3.7 Alcides Escobar 2 2.2 Alexi Casilla 1.8 1.4 Logan Morrison 0.2 1 Andrew McCutchen 5.5 5.7 Shane Victorino 5.1 5.9 Mike Stanton 5.7 4.5 Justin Upton 4.1 6.4
  20. I have a general question for anyone out there who is big into WAR. I have checked the WAR numbers on a few guys on both their Baseball-Reference page as well as their Fangraphs page and I'm getting different numbers. Example: Justin Upton: Fangraphs : 6.4 WAR in 2011. Baseball-reference: 4.1 WAR in 2011. Just wondering why the numbers would be so different and which one is more accurate?
  21. It just happened four months ago when the thugs of Georgetown went over to China and turned a goodwill basketball game into a major brawl. That was an equal disgrace.Thugs of Georgetown? really? did you even see the clip of what happened? The Chinese team was trying to start crap the entire time. I'm not even a Georgetown fan but I can't believe you are trying to pin that on them.
