  1. I think the Suppan signing was average back then, and I still think it is average, not bad, not great. With Suppan in the rotation, it allowed Gallardo to mature further at AAA earlier in the season, I don't think he's as good of a pitcher today if he didnt get that experience at AAA earlier this year. Also, would anyone have expected Villanueva to make the opening day roster? If Suppan isn't around, the bullpen would have looked in even worse shape than it does now as well. At least Suppan has started 23 games along with averaging 6 innings per start, whereas Capuano is only averaging 5.5 innings per start, and Vargas is even lower than that, so Suppan has at least allowed the bullpen to take more of a rest.
  2. after jenkins draws a walk..... mench first pitch popup... where's gross????
  3. i don't think he's thrown a true strike to rickie this AB, that first pitch was outside, then the second called strike had been called high basically the whole game, until that pitch
  4. ok, i'm sorry, but this ump behind the plate is horrible, i'm usually not one to say anything about the umpiring, but it's been so inconsistent it's not even funny.... how in the world the first called strike to estrada was actually a strike, i haven't a clue.... he's been sometimes giving the outside corner, then taking it away, sometimes high in the zone, next pitch looks even better and it's a ball... horrible
  5. i don't know if this means anything, but those other 4 other than franco were lefties.... ahh, now bill mentions that
  6. jamie moyer has to be there, i think he's 44
  7. Coco will be going in the 9th again tonight? interesting
  8. Coco i'm guessing can't go tonight, is anyone else not available? villanueva/wise/shouse for the 7th and 8th in case Bush can't make it through?
  9. I guess that's why Jenkins is starting? ... yost must have had a gut feeling, haha wow, i would have never expected that.....p.s. can i go to potawatomi with yost right now?
  10. Yo has nothing left to prove? he's only made what... 7 starts at AAA? he's only 21, let him develop, what' the point in rushing him? Small sample size, but yes, it is encouraging on how well he's doing so far
  11. i love prince's approach vs. lhp, stay in, doesnt open his hips too soon, just stays back then unloads
  12. i'm starting to get really sick of bill hall
  13. Braun up to .366 with 8 hr..... 4-4 in the second game... not bad i guess
  14. i completely agree with everyone saying that everything Yost has done tonight makes 0 sense. when the lefty was brought in to face Gross, you have to go with Hart or Mench there, whichever you feel more comfortable with, i can see CC being left in vs. the lefty because it is only the 6th and graffy is the only backup INF on the bench, but then why is graffy pinch hitting for the pitcher to start off the inning??????? it makes 0 sense whatsoever, oh yeah, another thing about not pinch hitting for CC there too, is you'll need another PH later on when the pitchers spot comes up in the 9th (hopefully) and yost doesnt like to use his backup catcher to PH, so : hart in the 6th for gross, graffy to PH for the pitcher in the 7th then? , mench to PH for the pitcher in the 9th, and miller still on the bench ...doesnt that seem to make more sense?
  15. is this a case of Yost out thinking himself? or Yost just being a total tool?
  16. wise vs duncan would be the wise move to do you would think.... but no one up in the pen?
  17. because he's looked completely lost at the plate so far this year? and we need to beat the cards, and gross had an OPS of over .900 vs. righties last year? yeah, small sample, i know btw, ... not in blue, i wish CC was starting tonight too, although graffy does need to get his ABs in too to stay fresh
  18. looked like Prince almost fell as he was rounding second on billy's hit
  19. Thanks Toby, I might have a few other questions, but I'll wait until I somehow survive finals week Thanks again!
  20. Toby, I?ve really enjoyed your comments and opinions on the Power 50 while lurking around the site for the past 3+ years while barely posting. Thanks for doing such a great job. I have just one quick question for you, you mentioned you?re an accounting and I was just curious where you work at? I?m a junior at Marquette majoring in accounting and trying to get a feel for some of the local firms in the Milwaukee area. Thanks in advance.
  21. Their overall top 10 is strong, with Southern Door, WI native Erik Cordier checking in at #6. Congrats Erik! I got a hit off of him our senior year!! Glad to see BA thinks highly of him as he always seemed like an awesome guy on the basketball court and on the baseball field.... his dad on the other hand was crazy, along with their baseball coach. Does anyone know what's up with the injury that sidelined him at the end of this past year?
