  1. the new rule that you're referring to doesn't impede trades in any way, shape or form. it only impedes a club's second attempt in a season to try to claim the same player off outright waivers.
  2. essentially cut that in half as severino loses pay during his 80-game suspension.
  3. jakson reetz has been announced for the initial class aa biloxi shuckers roster.
  4. can't waive a guy who's not on a major league contract. nottingham is a non-roster invitee. he did not finish the 2021 season on a major league roster or the major league injured list, nor does he have enough service time to have required an opt-out clause/retention bonus in his contract. doesn't mean that he didn't negotiate an opt-out clause, but for the time being, we have to assume that nottingham is property of the orioles until the end of the 2022 minor league season. thus, he could be traded.
  5. david stearns states that justin topa is headed to the injured list. curious if the new cba requires such. he never appeared in a major league cactus league game this spring, so the injury was not sustained in a major league game. under the previous cba, he could have been optioned. instead, it looks like he will accrue major league pay and major league service time instead of being on optional assignment.
  6. david stearns does not mention reetz as an internal option in this interview:
  7. during the lockout, pedro severino was barred from sharing with club officials the medical treatment that he was receiving. had club officials known, could they have advised him not to take the prescription?
  8. the brewers have placed pedro severino on the restricted list, removing him from the 40-man roster. the roster is at 38 players.
  9. a reminder that jakson reetz is the only non-roster invitee still in big league camp.
  10. pedro severino will be placed on the restricted list, and will be removed from the 40-man roster.
  11. today's the day! check t-mobile tuesdays.
  12. luis perdomo has been reassigned to minor league camp.
  13. last week, justin topa threw on flat ground from 150 feet. looks like he's on track to pitch off a mound next week.
  14. i'm a bit frustrated that the brewers selected josé ureña's contract ahead of opening day . . . especially if he doesn't make his first appearance of the season in any of the initial games. let's assume that the brewers will be going with 14 pitchers and 14 position players on opening day. it's very likely that starters aside, they won't get around to using all of the pitchers in the initial games. instead, the brewers could have assured ureña that he'd have his contract selected before the conclusion of the club's opening road trip, recalled an optioned position player to have an extra bat, and optioned that position player when it was time to select ureña's contract.
  15. jordan lyles taking ball four in the bottom of the 15th inning against the pirates, after surrendering two runs in the top of the inning. do you remember what happened after that?
  16. bringing this forward as a number of threads on non-roster invitees created in what was the major league forum got moved to the brewers minor league talk forum. i disagree with them being moved.
  17. first appearance scheduled for sunday. is that enough time to get him ready for opening day?
  18. trevor gott has been told he's on the opening day roster.
  19. josh lindblom has been returned to minor league camp.
