    Yup - used to be we could rely on him for a sac fly with fewer than two outs, now Yuni is grounding everything to the left side of the infield. Gah, that's frustrating!

    All this speculation about what, on the surface, looks like a huge snub, makes me wonder if there's been an issue at AAA that the Brewers don't want to announce. Maybe he ticked off Prince or Braun the last time he was up, maybe he laughed at DM's mustache.Either way, they had to know that by NOT bringing him up, they leave themselves open to a ton of questions. Just seems like an unwanted distraction they could have avoided. If he's not a part of the future, bring him up and show him the pine for 3 weeks. If he is, bring him up for the experience. Not bringing him up seems like option Z at this stage.

    So let me get this straight - unless our players play well, we have no chance in the playoffs against the Phillies? Doesn't that describe ANY team playing ANY sport, ever?

    It's hard to look at these three games and conclude anything other than the phrase "small sample size" was made for it!

    Nobody is suggesting that Yuni is the second coming of Robin Yount at SS, but the constant, tedious harping about his shortcomings and games he's supposedly to blame for losing is just a bore. What next? The Kennedy assassination? The death of disco? Give it a rest.

    Because he was an obvious upgrade over Yuni. For me, it has less to do with how he has performed against us and more to do with how much better he is historically than Yuni. It's just even more painfully obvious when he crushes another HR in the series and Yuni cost us the 1st game in the series with his pitiful bunt. That was Yuni with those two errors that led to runs? Wow, he's looking more like Hairston and Fielder every day!

    Houston was salary dumping, and saw Berkman as part of their past rather than part of their future. Berkman actually thought he might be re-signed by the Astros this winter and was disappointed to be told that they had no intention of doing so. There's just such a huge difference between that scenario and now, that to link the two is pretty fatuous, to be honest. For St. Louis to even suggest that they might waive Berkman to us, pretty much says to the fanbase, "yup, we've thrown in the towel". Plus, there's a groundswell of opinion over there that he might be an insurance policy at 1B should Pujols do the unthinkable and leave. I guess I can't believe that we're debating the sanity or otherwise of a scenario that would never in a million years have happened.

    The fact that we've had about 3 of these games in the last month, instead of about a dozen is surely cause for some sort of perspective. Virtually every team loses at least 60 games in a season, so days like this are inevitable. To some people here, however, it's not enough that we have puppies and rainbows and unicorns, we want CHOCOLATE, too, goldangit!

    You are correct that the Brewers are closer to 50/50 but you are also overestimating how well every other team actually does in the same situation. I see the graph now, and I stand corrected. I still don't think 54% is acceptable but it appears we're better than most. Which is hard to believe. Maybe it's just that we've really struggled with it lately that is skewing my view. Either way, it's frustraing that we're losing 2-0 in a game. We had two chances to score with a man on third and 1 out and failed both times. While our opponent has had the exact same 2 chances and succeeded both times. If we lose this game, it's disappointing to me that we went 2-2 in the series given the pitching matchups. We won the games Narveson and Estrada pitched, and are possibly going to lose the games started by Greinke and Marcum (not to mention we faced Lincoln and Thompson in those 2 losses). So do we give back the games won by Estrada and Narvy against pitchers this year who should have beaten them? This stuff happens all the time, I'm just shocked that it disappoints you.
