  1. If this strategy was implemented our pen would be cashed by the all-star break. Then Yost AND Melvin should be fired.
  2. Does anyone know if the game is on Direct tv FSN Alt channel?
  3. Little chance of him pitching the 7th with a two hitter and a low pitch count. Yep -- It was a 1-1 game with his spot likely to be up in the 7th. He lucked out of a jam in the 5th, and had walked 3 batters in the last 2 innings. I get the impression you didn't watch the game. Villy was not as effective. This is exactly what I was talking about when I say Yost can do nothing right. When you say "Yost can do nothing right" -- you always take a very specific argument made by one poster, and proceed to apply inaccurate generalizations that may be have been made by an entirely different poster -- but in all likelihood it's a fabrication on your part. That is a bad example of what should of been done and that should be clear but I guess not. I think Yost should have had someone warming earlier -- I realize not everyone holds that POV. I certainly think it is debatable.
  4. Metavante is Latin for "without pants"
  5. So when we lose, Yost bashers do use both of these and either way they are correct. Collectively perhaps -- but you couldn't pin it on one poster -- which is what you insist on doing. Villy had 70 pitches through 6 and was on a 2 hitter. The argument of having someone warming up is just not there. They got ready after the bomb and that is exactly when they should of. Villy was in a jam in the 5th, and was likely to bat in the next inning -- I dont think it was the worst thing ever, but Yost should have someone getting ready at the beginning of the 6th, as there was little chance Villy would be pitching in the 7th.
  6. I'm almost certain that Ned has been criticized for unnecessarily warming up pitchers in the past. We really need to get past arguments that take something that might be said in the community here at large, and then pin it on on specific poster. If a specific poster says "Ned screwed up because he did XYZ" -- we shouldn't be saying that some other poster somewhere is going to be mad if Ned did the opposite of XYZ.
  7. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part. -- Otter, Animal House Classically put. FTJ, I think I might just be up to the task. I have the schedule, I have the beer, I have the time, and I have not nearly enough baseball smarts to make this happen. I tend to get a tad opinionated when I drink, however my ability to confuse what actually did happen with what would have been awesome to happen, skyrockets. Let me know if I can contribute to the cause.
  8. The win 60 / lose 60 mindset is meant to stop analyists and fans from trying to call an April game a "must win." Right -- we need to embrace this though --- what is the fun of being a fan if you don't have must sweep series in April?
  9. Is that still Yost's fault then? It's about maximizing your chances to win not bashing Ned Yost. -- I've noticed and documented a trend that suggests that Ned leaves his starters in WAY too long. People seem hung up on pitch count, when in reality Ned should be watching the pitchers more. Guys like Dave Bush, are going to crap out at 70 pitches sometimes. The crazy thing is -- for example the last game Bush pitched -- Bush was left in to hit for himself, after getting out of a jam in the previous inning -- he gets ran around the bases -- Yost brings him in to pitch the 6th -- he gets clubbed around, getting only one out -- and the BP ends up pitching that inning anyway. If your SP is on the ropes -- more likely than not, the BP is going to have to finish the inning anyway -- they may as well pitch the whole inning. Yost's managerial decisions will have much less of an effect on the season than the Brewers' ability to get on base. So? Italy had less of an effect than Germany in WWII, -- it doesn't mean they didn't need to be addressed.
  10. Dude -- I think this needs to be taken to the next level. I think weekly -- games should be qualified as "decisive" or not -- and then look into the coming week as which games are "decisive" and then of course target the "must sweep series" for each month. That would be epic.
  11. now that Dempster has had 2 outstanding starts, would that still be your opinion? In a barroom setting, most definitely.
  12. To properly figure this out, I think you would need a lot of time and a lot of beer. Yeah -- this discussion would not be for the sober.
  13. The more I think about it, the more I think its a must for a girlfriend of mine to really enjoy the thing I enjoy most. Any thoughts? Well -- if you are looking for a casual/friendly relationship -- I think having similar interests is a must. However, if it is a long-term sort of thing you are looking for -- baseball should be WAY down on the list of importance, regardless of what kind of fan you are. My wife and I couldn't be different in our likes -- she hates sports -- however once our kids got bigger, she enjoys sitting in the front room "with her boys" and watching the Steelers and the Brewers -- she'll make the boy pizza if the Steelers have a prime time game, or nachos on a Sunday afternoon. It's all about spending time with the kids where we (my wife and I) are on the same page -- the sports stuff works itself out. As a side note: -- My wife HATES Ned Yost -- way more than I ever would. She rips on him regardless of what he does... "Why is Yost taking Sheets out" "Well honey, he has thrown 125 pitches, it's a good move" "Quit defending your big buddy Ned"
  14. slightly off topic, but has anyone eve tried to con directv into giving you network stations when you live in an area that already gets them over the air? I think they pretty much offer all of the locals now. I definitely tried though way back when -- they hooked me up with the NY and LA feeds instead - which was cool
  15. Episode 8: Seth and Derrick break Ned's coffee pumps, while playing ping pong -- hilarity ensues.
  16. The sacrificial lambs I remember were Jake the Milkman and Apollo Athens.
  17. We called it Wildcat -- I think in fancy places they call it "Tartar"
  18. The Reds show promise, but lets give it some time before we label them as challengers. Here's the thing -- the Brewers were outplayed by the reds in the 2nd half of last year. We have 0 playoff berths -- I dont think we are holding the label gun.
  19. TED SIMMONS WILL NEVER GET INTO THE HALL OF FAME BUWAHH HAHA HAHAH
  20. I'm pretty sure the gallon and half of coffee keeps him on that edge.
  21. Episode 5: A nice man consoles Derrick and Seth by reminding them that the Indian Ocean is the smallest therefore the hardest to throw into.
  22. Episode 4: Seth and Derrick fail to get cast as William Tell in the local theater group
  23. Episode 3: Seth and Derrick say dirty words at the kid in the dunk tank.
  24. Episode 2: Seth and Derrick regret the decision to have carpet installed in their bathroom.
