I don't have a problem with the fact that he left for 4 extra million. I have a problem with the fact that he didn't even give Melvin a chance to make a counter-offer, or even tell Melvin what his offer from the Reds was. Doesn't seem he really was invested in staying here. It's the nature of things -- Vargas and Wise got released -- If we think that is OK, then we have to expect that players are always going to look out for their best interest, just as selfishly as the Brewers look out for their interest. The way I look at it, while Cordero was here -- he was probably our best pitcher for those 1.5 seasons (including Sheets), he never griped or squawked, always took the ball, and without a doubt contributed in a large way to our team's progress. The Brewers got back every dime they put into him. As a player, I hope he does well for the Reds -- just like I hope Overbay turns it around for Toronto, (Estrada not so much)...
