  1. You've been deported.
  2. Gallardo is head and shoulders above Lilly as a #2. I don't this is an objective statement -- at least at this point in Yo's career. I think also the Cubs D is much better. Honestly, I think the teams are pretty even. I don't think it is unreasonable to think the Cubs are better.
  3. Wow -- Larry Bowa just had a spectacular meltdown.
  4. Tony Gwynn's number is actually .22 -- like the small caliber rifle.
  5. Tony has that Ichiro-like bat control, at least to a lesser extent. I have Ichiro-like bat control to a lesser extent
  6. I'd buy one if it said "Bill Hill" on the back
  7. Can you back this up? I'm not agitating, just curious. Bennet makes 700K at WSU, I'm pretty sure there are schools that would be happy to bump his salary.
  8. Next year, I'll celebrate April Fools Day by going all 'bull in a china shop' with the board settings and random bannings. I'm not clear -- Next year on April 1st, you are proposing to clumsily administer the forum, under the assumption that we will be able to discern a difference? Sure, it'll cause all kinds of problems and take weeks to clear up If it would take weeks to clear up, perhaps it could be off-shored. but damn if we won't be able to all look back on it together and laugh. You are going to have to be much more creative to top Bill Hill.
  9. Yeah -- I remember when Bill Hill occupied 32 spots on your Power 50
  10. Awesome Bill Hill was starting to piss me off...
  11. I would like to think if he was at all ill, they could have sent in Riske earlier with the off-day tomorrow.
  12. Hi. I am helping out a summer league for boys currently in 3rd-8th grade looking to play some summer hoops (3 on 3). It would be in the Portage/Columbus area, so if you have a boy, or know of a group of boys -- drop me a note. If you have 3 kids that's super - if not we can find a team for you. There will be 3 games for each team on Wed. nights, and a tournament at the end. The games would be in July and the tourney in August. Thanks!
  13. You're right -- My only point is that when Yost does things that effectively remove the bat from Prince's hands -- that probably isn't a good thing -- with Gwynn batting in front of him, that will happen a lot late in games.
  14. That is why I like Gwynn in CF for these 25 games. Yeah -- I am really not opposed to starting Gwynn when Cameron is on his timeout. I don't want him batting second though at all. I'd rather Gross start than Gwynn -- although I do think Gross makes for a better PH'er than TGJ does.
  15. Well -- and they have some good pitching -- and perhaps in the next offseason they add a couple more FA components.
  16. Yeah -- I think DM tried to sign Cordero -- unlike Lee, which I think he threw a contract at Lee that DM knew wasn't going to cut it.
  17. If Braun does what he did yesterday on a regular enough basis Fielder will get his chances to hit. Not when TGJ has to bunt -- Teams are always going to BB Prince with 1b open. 1.) Weeks gets on (0 outs) 2.) TGJ bunts (Weeks to 2nd, 1 out) 3.) Prince gets IBB (1&2 1out) 4.) Braun and Hart get ABs Now if Hart/Hardy/Hall is in the 2hole instead of Gwynn. Not only could you get a extra base hit -- but you may get into the other team's BP as they will have to pitch to both Fielder and Braun. TGJ almost HAS to bunt in that situation, because in all likelihood that is what he going to effectively do if he swings away. Basically Yost forced himself to put all of his eggs in the Braun basket -- which worked out well yesterday.
  18. Prince was peeved, he got the guy out at 1B and he was called safe. Yeah -- Prince needs to settle himself down --- he could have waived Gagne off and took the ball to the bag himself and made the ump a non-factor. I think though -- where Prince got pissed, is when he dove for that foul grounder and the HP ump called it foul -- which it was. Then he was glaring down at the HP ump. Boy -- if one AB is all Fukudome needs to adjust to MLB pitching -- we are going to have our hands full. I was thoroughly impressed with him.
  19. I really didn't see where TGJ took away hits where other (average) CF's would have failed to. I thought he was playing way too shallow on Fukudome, but overall I think he made plays you would expect an average CFer to make.
  20. It just means we may have a very hard time figuring out if a particular catcher has it. Kenall seems to though doens't he? Jason's old man, Fred, was a catcher for probably 10+ years, and I think a coach since he retired -- my guess is that Jason has had a lot of exposure to pitchers and catchers that a lot of players don't have (at an early age). I would guess that Kendall is decent at handling pitchers at this point in his career.
  21. the only chance Estrada would have had running down FDome is if FDome would have fallen to his knees laughing as the hillarity ensued. If Johnny had been sprinting, Fukudome could have certainly fallen down with the ensuing tremors.
  22. I've been believing Gwynn's minor league stats like most on here, that he won't be any good No one thinks he won't be any good necessarily -- most people here think he is a decent 4th/5th OF, who probably should make spot starts at the most. but this team does need OBP guys with speed to drive in, TGJ is really not an OBP guy -- In order to be an OBP guy you have to be able to complement your BA with BBs -- much like Weeks. Also, with all the mashers we have in our lineup, I don't think you need a lot of speed, if you are going to be trotting around the bases after Prince/Braun/Hart go yard. he has shown a lot during spring training and last night. I think he had a couple of cheap hits, a decent sac fly, he made a couple of nice yet routine catches in the OF, and was caught paying way to shallow on Fukudome. It showed me what I always thought -- TGJ is a solid 4th/5th OFer and I am glad to have him on my team in that capacity. I would think it would suck to have him starting 120 games though. The first team that wants him to play fulltime CF, I trade him to. My biggest gripe though regarding TGJ is when he is batting #2 -- but that's on Yost -- I think we could have had a much bigger (potentially) inning if TGJ isn't forced to bunt and the bat isn't taken out Prince's hands. It worked out well enough -- but I don't like giving up an out and not getting Prince his hacks.
  23. there is no proof of calling a 'good game' Calling a game is a skill, as such, it stands to reason that some players are going to better than others. I think though what the people at the Badger Board may have been indicating -- is that it is statistically hard to show that a catcher calls a good game, -- that is to say, that the skill is hard to flesh out on a spreadsheet. "Calling a good game" is probably the most thrown around phrase in baseball, every newly acquired catcher "calls a good game" it seems.
