  1. I'm really going to miss Tavarez. I was hoping to see him pull a "Classic Tavarez" and inexplicably punch a Justin Morneau or a Brad Hawpe in the face. My hope is that he'll be back in September to at least come in to brawl with the Cubs (picture him taking on Zambrano and Fontenot simultaneously...that's why God gave him two hands).
  2. Zambrano seems to leave every 4th or 5th game with some sort of tightness or fatigue. He's fine.
  3. I've heard a number of people mistakenly use penultimate as if it meant "Extra ultimate". Your definition is correct.
  4. You have to love the organization's routine of "he's Day-to Day and won't be going on the DL" and then turning around shortly after that "he's on the DL". First Gagne and now Weeks.
  5. Oakland brought Thomas back into the fold there shortly after Toronto released him.
  6. Personally, I love Shields' refusal to back down and the fact that as Coco was running towards the mound, Shields was winding up his punch. Had he connected on that shot, it would've been a KO.
  7. I'm friends with his sister and would love to see him as a Brewer. He can easily take DiFelice's spot in the bullpen. I don't know what we'd give up to get him though.
  8. That ump isn't giving Bush anything on the inside or on the outside corner.
  9. I know that Sedar held up Fielder after initially waving him in today, but that was the right call, Hart just missed it. I wish Sveum would realize that with his daughter now graduating high school, he should spend the summer with her before she goes off to college. Don't miss this opportunity, Dale!
  10. I love love love this move! It's about time we bring in a goon, not just a jerk who will only bring down our clubhouse (David Bell, for example). No, with Tavarez, we have a guy who is perhaps the most unpredictable player in baseball and that is exciting! Imagine if he'd been the one running towards first base when Reed Johnson slid into first? Tavarez's reaction? Punch him in the mouth. If we had him last year, he could've beaned Pujols and as he was being ejected...he could've punched him in the mouth. We now have a legitimate shot at an all out brawl on the field. I love this move and no, this isn't supposed to be in blue.
  11. It is funny to me that TH is so up in arms about this blog when he's been so reluctant to report any sort of rumors. Especially with this Badger Blog, which appears to be more about politics and isn't a sort of "inside sports" blog. I've always thought poorly of TH, but him throwing the blog under the bus when he was the one who spread the report was absurd. He should've spoke with his unnamed source first before posting anything, if at all.
  12. Dolphin Stadium is in the middle of nowhere, it's not even close to Miami. You can understand 50000 making it out to Dolphins games since they only have 8 a year, but there's no way you're going to have consistent attendance numbers playing 81 games in such an awful location. I think the new stadium will change the way the organization handles its payroll and talent.
  13. Is anyone else shocked that Bradley didn't get a season-ending injury while picking up Laird?
  14. I don't think this move will work out as poorly as one might think. If you look at Aquino's 07 season, he was awesome when you brought him in at the beginning of an inning with no runners on. He basically has the same syndrome as Turnbow where he is a disaster if he encounters inherited runners
  15. I want a split or at worst, have the Cubs win the series. I can't stand LaRussa and at this point, I guess I'd rather have it be the Cubs or the Brewers instead of the Cardinals.
  16. This piece of information instantly making Vasgersian my favorite announcer of any sort.
  17. I'm relatively sure that Wise might've been Ankiel'd. Wise is probably my favorite pitcher on the team, but I highly doubt he'll ever be the same and I wouldn't be surprised if a mystery DL stint (Dessens redux) is on the way.
  18. Jacque Jones out at the plate "Why didn't he slide" bemoans Santo.
  19. Give me a break, Reds
  20. Maggie's first word was "Daddy" at the end of episode 410 (season 4, episode 10).
  21. I was kidding about the Cordero trade, I'm not a fan of the blue font. Impressive trade, though, considering the DFA of Balfour.
  22. After seeing Balfour's three performances, I'm sure the Nationals are giving us Cordero straight up for him.
  23. "To me, when someone critiques these announcers over and over, it reminds me of how pompous and partisan people were right after 9/11 when--rather than intently listening to Bush's speeches--they watched just to wait for a chance to laugh at a mis-pronunciation." I think this is the first time Joe Morgan, Jon Miller, Bill Schroeder, Joe Buck and Mark Grace have been mentioned alongside 9/11. Hopefully, the new edition of Loose Change will keep it up.
  24. Depending on what we do with trades, Gwynn will likely be back next week, they just wanted to have as many pitchers as possible taking into account that they play so many straight days and Parra can't go since he is starting the first half of the doubleheader on Saturday. Plus, Gwynn was going to leave for Cooperstown this weekend and wouldn't have been there anyhow. We're fortunate that Graffanino can play outfield in a pinch, but I think you can expect to see Gwynn back and Balfour DFA'd unless something happens (injuries or trade)
