  1. Thanks again everyone! Just wanted to share this from their facebook: "It's Official! We took 2nd place in September's Pepsi Refresh Challenge earning Treyton's Field of Dreams $50,000! Thank you again for all that everyone did to make this happen. We couldn't have done it without you! We are that much closer to helping Treyton's Field of Dreams become a reality very soon!"
  2. The field finished 2nd overall and since it was part of the top 10, that means it is a finalist eligible for the $50,000 grant. So, unofficially the field has been awarded the $50,000, now I think it is probably a matter of Pepsi's legal team going over everything and ensuring that the money is used properly. I'm sure the grant will come with certain expectations on the part of Pepsi as well, but I can't see any scenario in which the field would somehow be denied the grant now. I would like to sincerely thank Brewerfan for raising the awareness and putting the vote link on every page. Your votes and support have all meant so much towards building something great out of such a terrible tragedy. Thank you so much.
  3. This was supposed to be part of the "30 for 30" series, but as the air date approached, the director Alex Gibney said he needed more time. When he was given that extra year, I expected this movie to be a home run. I thought "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room" and "Taxi to the Dark Side" were fantastic films by Gibney and didn't see how he could not deliver on this. In my opinion, this was really lousy. There was an HBO documentary about the Cubs a few years ago that covered most of the same Bartman ground and even gave more context for some of the people in this film (for example, the guy who you kept seeing clips of from the bleachers had recorded the whole season and was supposedly going to get a deal for all his footage had they gone to the World Series). Really the only new information was the detail about how Bartman got out of Wrigley Field. It was a very repetitive documentary and all the Red Sox/Buckner stuff was really forced. Also, while it works in some context, this was a documentary that wasn't really connected to the filmmaker at all, so it was pointless for him to include footage of himself on the radio when the only reason he was there was because he was making a movie about the subject. For him to get that extra year and not get Bartman to do an interview is an absolute failure.
  4. This is it! Final day everyone! Please keep voting and ask friends and family for this one final push. Last time the Field lost out in literally the final seconds, so every vote is vital!
  5. Thank you for taking the time and making the extra effort! It lost in the final 10 seconds last time it was up for voting, so every vote definitely counts.
  6. You are absolutely correct, it runs through the end of September at 10:59:59 Central Time. Thank you Brewerfan for all your support, this means so much for a family that has been through a lot.
  7. A few months ago, the Treyton Kilar Field of Dreams just fell a few votes short of getting any funding money from the Pepsi Refresh Project. The Brewerfan community did an amazing job spreading awareness and voting as much as possible. This month, the field is once again up for some funding through Pepsi and it would be amazing if we could all once again pitch in and let friends and relatives know about this. You can vote both online and via text and the direct link is http://www.refresheverything.com/trey Thanks everyone!

  10. RR just mentioned in his post-game comments that Herrera will be DFA'd and a corresponding move will be made tomorrow.
  11. FINAL HALF HOUR! Don't forget you can vote by text when you Text* 105500 to Pepsi (73774)
  12. PLEASE VOTE! It has been bouncing between 2nd and 3rd all day! I can't begin to tell you how devastating it would be if this wasn't pulled off. Tell all your co-workers and all your friends! Let's do this! http://www.refresheverything.com/treytonkilar
  13. Yes, yes, yes! Please repost this wherever and invite people to this event: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=118782111528920 It really only takes a few seconds and even possibly getting at least one additional vote makes a difference! Thank you to everyone who has helped support this!
  14. A friend of mine lost her 6-year old cousin last year when he was killed by a drunk driver. He loved baseball and the hope is to build a baseball field in his honor in the Whitewater Area. The Field is one of the contenders on the Pepsi Refresh Project site, in the running for $250,000. You can vote/learn more about it here: http://www.refresheverything.com/treytonkilar It's really easy to vote and you can do it every day during the period of the project. If you could spread the word and let other people know about this, that would be great. Let's tackle this like we're voting in Corey Hart to the 2008 All-Star Game.
  15. Now what two GMs will we make a number of trades with?
  16. I didn't realize Melvin's moves also meant that we'd have a major shakeup regarding our #2 starter... http://espn.go.com/mlb/teams/depth?team=mil
  17. I bought a print of this...it isn't a photo, but I look forward to framing it for my new apartment: http://www.andygoralski.com/lastgame.html
  18. Hey Gang, I just wanted to let everyone know the Channel 10 Auction is on every day now through Saturday, beginning at 1pm. This year, we have all sorts of sports memorabilia but most notably, this awesome Ryan Braun print called Ryan Braun: Portrait of an All-Star. Here's a sample of the original: http://auction.mptvfriends.org/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=77556 We've got the signed prints going about every half hour after 5.
  19. I've managed to miss the Armando Diaz experience (although that has a huge influence on us), but I have seen TJ Jagodowski perform and he is fantastic. While I haven't seen the IO's Armando Diaz, I have seen the UCB edition of it three times.
  20. One of the founders of the Dead Alewives, Bo Johnson, is actually our guest tomorrow night. The Alchemist is a smaller venue, but most people that attend a show there become quite loyal as it is a wonderful theater and lounge.
  21. I did Comedysportz in High School, which taught you more of the short-form "Whose Line is it Anyway?" style, which has its ups and downs, the biggest problem is that some performers develop a schtick that they always go to. I did more improv in college and took classes at Second City as well. I also host an audio program called "Host and Guest" where I've had the chance to interview some of my favorite comedians and improvisers in Chicago, which has been very insightful. Improv is kind of an interesting beast as there are a lot of rules that are given to beginners to help the scene work, but as you get better at improv, you start to realize that those rules don't necessarily matter and that it basically boils down to reacting and being clear with your intentions so your partners on-stage know what the audience is seeing as well. Sometimes you employ the rules...sometimes you bend them....and if you're good, it all works out somehow.
  22. I just thought I'd let everyone here know that I perform at the Alchemist Theater in a group called Meanwhile every other Friday at 10pm. It's long form improv where we have a guest tell a story and then we do scenes revolving around themes and ideas from the narrative. It's a lot of fun and we've sold out every show thus far. Here's our website: http://www.meanwhileimprov.com/ and you can get tickets to our show at http://www.alchemisttheat...se=viewShow&showId=75
  23. Both Homer and The Big Show are terrible. I listen to Boers and Bernstein on 670 during then...I don't care about the teams they're talking about whatsoever, but they know how to have intelligent sports and culture discussion. For Brewers pre and post game, it is always, ALWAYS 1250.

  25. The problem is that since they work for the Brewers, they have this sense of entitlement and superiority which is the last thing someone in their late teens/early 20s needs. I spent my first year out of college working for the Bucks and I am well aware of how people can get huge egos just from working in the sports industry.
