  1. Not disagreeing with your general assertion but Gross was an elite athlete, he played Quarterback at Auburn. I would think he would be the example you're looking for, good athlete, one elite tool and hope for the best.
  2. Kind of surprised I didn't find this here already. Keri lists the Brewers as the best playoff spoiler. The theory is kind of weird (lets take out all the teams that people think are good and then rank the teams that actually are good) but it does take a pretty good look at the Brewers strengths. I still am suspicious of the claim that the Brewers play average defense. Link
  3. Well it looks like they got Klinsmann. Hopefully they give him total control over the system.
  4. Especially if Saito is able to go multiple days (like yesterday when he was warming up) using KRod in the seventh to get the last out you still then have Saito, if needed in the eighth, or right to Axford in the ninth. I can get behind LaRussa style pitching in the sixth and seventh with Estrada, Hawkins, Loe and Dillard, with Saito, KRod and Axe in the eighth and ninth (and to bridge from the seventh).
  5. I agree that merging late is annoying but one of my friends is a traffic engineer and he says that merging at the point where the lane closes is the way the engineers design it and is suppossed to be the fastest way. I'm not so sure but that's what he says.
  6. They have limited options because Bradley refuses to give anyone else any caps. It's sort of like if RRR complained that he only has one 8th inning guy with any experience this year. I don't see him making good in game adjustments but maybe that's because they typically start games so poorly. As far as better options obviously Klinsmann is a popular choice, what about Hiddink? or Scolari? someone with some high level international experience and credentials.
  7. What confuses me is the message that is sent by yesterdays moves. On one hand we acquire veterans and downgrade our draft pick in a win now type deal (though they still only have a ceiling of mediocrity). Then, instead of taking high floor draft picks, they select developmental prospects. So now the Bucks have three or four develomental prospects on their roster who can't really help the team win now (Sanders, Harris, Leuer, Hobson). Furthermore, none of them have the type of ceilings that creates hope for the furture if they develop. So we're on a mediocrity now-mediocrity forever treadmill, have they never heard of the term "NBA Hell".
  8. I think Williams is a tweener because he has more of a perimeter game than Griffin. Is Durant strictly a PF because he's 6-10, with length? If Williams goes to Minnesota he better get used to playing some 3 because he and Love can't play the 4 and 5 for very long.
  9. He must be doing it on purpose to break Brewerfan because looking at Braddock's numbers and concluding he's a LOOGY and then saying Herrera isn't despite the statistical evidence is beginning to approach Dusty Baker/Joe Morgan territory.
  10. I love KU basketball but I don't see much for Morris. He really isn't a 3 and too small for a 4. Other players of his size who succeeded were elite rebounders (Blair, Millsap), Morris hasn't shown that. I think he'll be a worse rebounding Drew Gooden with better BB IQ. That's not really what the Bucks need. Love Burks, Like Biyombo (just so we get to see Bogut, Biyombo and Mbah a Moute play defense together), pretty sure the Bucks don't see things like I do so they'll probably pick someone else.
  11. Really, Betancourt's .260/.335/.595 is unquestionably better than .297/.346/.642
  12. It's suppossed to be loaded, the people who stayed this year (Sullinger, Barnes, P.Jones and T. Jones) plus 1 and dones, Gilchrist, Austin Rivers and Anthony Davis, that's seven really good players. I don't think too many lottery teams are going to be trading next years picks.
  13. I don't think the Brewers have ever had any problems in GABP other than getting beat there. As for the Cards...when Mike Cameron was here the Brewers untucked their shirts after every win, the Cardinals organization felt that was not classy and complained about it constantly. I remember them complaining about Braun watching his home runs (Billy Hall too) even though Pujols waits until his hit the ground and rolls to a complete stop before he begins his trot. I remember Carlos Villannueva striking out Pujols and pumping his fist, Baseball Jesus didn't appreciate that and complained about it. The Cardinals are fun sponges and sore losers. The difference between the Brewers-Cards and your rivalry is the Cardinals really only complain about our players "antics" because they see our players as undeserving and cocky. Listening to their announcers only confirms this.
  14. Yikes! 10 hits in the third inning! Kotsay in Center?! and batting 2nd! Double Yikes!
  15. Well there's talk of a franchise tag being in it which would make it easier to keep superstars on small market teams. Otherwise, specific to the Bucks, shorter term or non-guaranteed contracts would make any contract mistakes easier to get rid of. A hard cap would level the playing field salary wise. There is a lot that can be done to benefit the Bucks in any new CBA, unfortunately the biggest impediment to their success is their own management.
  16. To me Jennings' biggest area of improvement is to recognize that he does in fact have a right hand and that it can be used to make basketball plays. I swear to god he gets more layups blocked because he only finishes with his left (even on the right side of the rim), it also prevents him from driving right because he always has to come back left (and when that is cut off his only options are fade away long 2s). Really, if he figured this out and also how to set spacing and angles on pick and roll (as elucidated above) he could be a much more efficient player. Hopefully this year humbled him and he'll put in the work.
  17. I think Jennings is fine but see the criticisms, he won't be great, but with a better team I think his efficiency numbers and assists would look a whole lot better, too often he is forced to carry the offense. The Bucks are what happens when you run a sports team as a PR organization. The Packers are what happens when you make decisions to win regardless of the PR. Strangely, one of these teams is infinitely more popular, winning makes it's own PR.
  18. I don't think he's a good fit, can he and Jennings (two low efficiency players) really play together, can he defend the 2, can either run an offense, Isn't Walker's ceiling Ben Gordon/Jason Terry. I'd only take him if they're getting rid of Jennings and even then I'd rather get a true point guard Hopefully they get somebody on the wing who can create offense
  19. The way I heard it when Morgan was batting was that when superstar Kotsay needed a day off Morgan would split time with Jeremy Reed and Almonte in right field. Roenicke is starting to worry me. Also has anyone heard of a good pitching-bad defense team? It seems the Brewers are going to give it a try.
  20. I was like that too. In school I could play hoops or a sport all day but would get bored and tire if it was just running. Once those opportunities for regular sport dried up I tried running, very light and short at first but everyday. Now it's no big thing to go on longer runs and truth be told I'm in better shape then when I played ball all the time. I probably still don't "like" running but I can appreciate it. (it does get easier if you have a goal in mind) also +1 for Crazylegs.
  21. Doug Melvin: "three million fans waiting back home in Milwaukee... and that" I agree, it'll be even harder after listening to the game today.
