  1. First my assumptions: 1. We don't pick up Cameron's option. 2. We keep Prince for 2 additional years 3. We can't find a way to dump Hall His alternative position would be RF. However, I think they will keep him at 3b through this year and in the AFL and give him every chance to stay there. Wouldn't it be hilarious if they asked Hall to learn to play right next year if Gamel sticks at 3b..
  2. Yes very strong denials that is not Brantley or Cain and I belive him over some media source. However, since the initial talk there has not be same denial for Green so I think it is safe to assume he is one on the list.. the others on the list I tried to pick who in A+ or A may be valued by Cleveland similar to Green. Once again my own projections.. but what else do we have to go on at this point.
  3. Yes.. based on his feedback I am assuming it is Green, Lucroy, and a pitcher (Anundsen).. of course I have no sources except the voices in my head.
  4. I agree with BtA.. barring any additional moves, next year's IF shakes out as: 3B Platton: Gamel/Hall SS: Hardy 2b: Weeks 1b: Fielder Utility: Escobar It gives the Escobar and Gamel a chance to break in slowly, provides depth, and make facilitate an mid-season trade for pitching if needed. OF: will be Braun and Hart (CF) with Gillepsie/Nelson getting a shot in RF. There is no way they trade Fielder this off-season unless they get overwhelmed with 2 stud pitchers like Chamberlain/Hughes (NY) or Buchholz / Lester (Boston) or Cain/Lincecum (SF) I could see them trading Hall / Weeks but that is not likely as well because they have little value unless they go on a Hardy like tear. If Hardy ends the season with .280 20HR's he would have good value but you can't trade him until you find out: - If hall will bounce back - Gamel can stick at 3b - Weeks will ever live up to his potential. All of this means they can focus their free agency money on pitching.
  5. The bright side about not being able to re-sign Sheets and/or Sabathia is if we make the playoffs we can pitch them every 3 days and let their team next year deal with the fall-out.
  6. Another thing to take into consideration.. do you think the Indians thought they would tank this year after being in the playoffs last year? I am sure they thought they would go on a 3-4 year run with their pitching and nucleus and now they might go into full fire sale mode less than 1 year later.. If you would have gone back to last July knowing what you know now and asked them if they could have added Santana as a rental would they have done it, they would have definitely done it to try to win the world series when the opportunity presented themselves.. Now it is not a direct oranges to oranges comparison but I think that recent history such as that shows the frailty in sports of trying to wait for next year? Do you have to think long term? Absolutely, but if you have a legitimate shot to win a world series (and even the staunchest opponents admit this improved the Brewers) you have to take it because nobody can predict if they have another chance.. or if they are beset by injuries and slumps next year and it is another 20+ years before they are here again.
  7. I consider it a huge success if the Brewers make the world series.. I consider it worth it the Brewers make the playoffs I consider it a blown opportunity if the Brewers miss the playoffs I consider it an absolute failure if: - Brewers miss the playoffs - Laporta turns into an all-star - Neither Sabathia pick turns into a ML player.
  8. That would be me.. since any follow-up moves probably won't include top 10 prospects (I am assuming that any Brian Roberts trade would be focused around Weeks) I am just going to enjoy the next 3 - 5 months. I posted this earlier but it bears repeating because it is the first time in my history of following the Brewers I can say this: The 2008 Brewers: where waiting until next year actually doesn't start until December.
  9. I thought the discussion for the first 90 PAGES on this topic was civilized and respectful.. just a simple request that we try to keep it that way.. this is a time for celebrating this season as there is no disagreement on it makes the team better this season no matter who is included from the Brewers side.. however others should be allowed to state concerns over long term impacts.. My two cents though I am sure they are only worth about 1: Agent39: I appreciate you taking the time and sharing a different perspective that is less biased than our own. Endaround / Rluzinski: My perspective is they usually attempt to provide grounded (when they agree with me) or devil's advocate position (when they don't) but I have always found them to be provide thoughtful perspectives which I enjoy even if I don't agree.. so disagreements welcome.. personal attacks less so.. If I would put my 4 year old in timeout for saying it I don't think it belongs here in BF.net..
  10. The 2008 Milwaukee Brewers where waiting until next year FINALLY doesn't occur until December.. Edit: Typos as it is hard to spell correctly when your hands are shaking with Brewer Fever.
  11. Yes.. I think we are arguing the same point I just wasn't clear.. I was trying to say by adding a stellar SP arm all areas of your team improves because: - You rest your bullpen - You stop streaks - You improve your bullpen since nobody on the major league team was traded - You can withstand injury better. - You improve your offense since cc will hit better than Bush. I was trying to state that while a replacements comparison with him and Bush/McClung might be two game but total improvement may be 4-5 when taking into account all of the above. We heard the same last year with Braun coming up from the minors. .if the would have started the year with him at 3b they may have made the playoffs.. This doesn't even take into account the playoffs where Sheets/CC would pitch 2 out of 3 games.
  12. He is also the biggest roadblock to re-signing Sheets or CC next year. I hope Bill Hall goes on an absolute tear the rest of the year so we can win the world series, package Hall / Suppan to get rid of $18 million in payroll and re-sign Sheets and pick up two draft picks for CC.. Yes I dreaming but if you can't dream tonight when can you?
  13. Ask Atlanta if Fred McGriff only had 2 games impact.. the poster before is right.. this is not a straight comparison.. it will help our other starters, our hitters, our bullpen, protect us from injury.. etc.. etc... Plus 2 extra games in the playoffs is huge..
  14. The pirates may want to play their 3b on the line and put the LF 5 feet inside the LF line.
  15. I really think a fair trade is Hardy for Sabathia AND Carmona at this point....
  16. Well there is plenty of this the other way so I think it balances out nicely.
  17. Doesn't make sense to me why Stetter is up in the pen.. why isn't McClung pitching today since CC will be starting tomorrow http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. What does it say for your starter when you are rooting for the other team to put up 10 pitch at bats (and then get out of course) to make sure he hits his pitch limit so your team has a chance to win.
  19. Hold on there.. we are still trying to sign him long-term http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. Just hopefully not multiple Huntsville Stars..
  21. For those of you who don't think CC is needed I present Exhibit 1: Suppan's start today..
  22. I am with you.. when he said "it is official" I thought it was sabathia even though they had been talking about all-stars..
  23. I think the fact behind the steal was that with Kendall up the OF was shallow so Cameron wasn't going to score on a hit and with the pitcher coming up next they wanted to try to score with Kendall.. Look at what happened to the pirates here were they couldn't score from second on a hit by the pitcher.. Any caught stealing looks dumb in hindsight.
  24. Lucroy with 2 bombs already today and Jeffress strikes out the side in his first inning.. let's get this deal done before Shapiro wants to throw them in..
  25. Well.. if they renamed the thread to: Pirates at Brewers / CC Watch it would be on page 35 right now.
