  1. And then Braun would go 2-2 with 2 HRs, win the game, homefield advantage for the Crew in the WS, and ASG MVP.
  2. I work for CNH, case international harvester is one of our brands. It always makes me smile when Corey Hart comes up to bat. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. This is what happens every year though it seems, and more and more, teams are less willing to give up top prospects, especially for rentals. I really don't see the Brewers giving up Laporta or Gamel and the Rays aren't going to give up Price. Unless the Cubs sell the farm, I really see a deal of this nature being the best offer Cleveland gets.
  4. Brewers give: Salome Dillard Gillespie Braddock Indians give: Sabathia Low Level IF prospect Book it.
  5. I sure was glad to FINALLY see Joe Dillon hit career HR #1 Its actually his first as a Brewer. He hit one as a Marlin in 2005. That one goes with his 152 he hit in the Minors. I can't believe he has so little pop in his bat up here.
  6. If you want to amek a case that eh Brewers shoudl punt next year if they can't sign Sheets because the pitching won't be there, I can get that. But then Fielder isn't the only one who should be moved, you can add Hardy, Hall, Kendall, Hart if he doesn't sign an extension, Suppan, and Torres. No, I was referring to trading prince in the offseason. This guy thinks we would be punting 2009 if we did that. I disagree.
  7. LOL... awesome. Why do I feel a lock coming though?
  8. For fun... here are the Cardinals and Cubs schedules Cards 3 vs. New York Mets 3 vs. Chicago Cubs 3 @ Philadelphia 3 @ Pittsburgh (All Star Break) 4 vs. San Diego 4 vs. Milwaukee 3 @ New York Mets 4 @ Atlanta Cubs 3 @ San Fransisco 3 @ St. Louis 3 vs. Cincinatti 3 vs. San Fransisco (All Star Break) 3 @ Houston 3 @ Arizona 4 vs. Florida 4 @ Milwaukee I'll say 14-13 for the Cards, 13-13 for the Cubs.
  9. 3 @ Arizona 3 vs. Pittsburgh 4 vs. Colorado 3 vs. Cincinatti (All Star Break) 3 @ San Fransisco 4 @ St. Louis 3 vs. Houston 4 vs. Chicago 17 - 10 for the month of July
  10. 16-10... not too shabby.
  11. Why wouldn't he just go year to year and then go for a big payday as a free agent? Long term deals ensure financial stability. If you go year to year, you take the risk of a career ending injuries.
  12. But remember, I'm in the "Trading Prince doesn't mean we should punt" crowd.
  13. But then Fielder isn't the only one who should be moved, you can add Hardy, Hall, Kendall, Hart if he doesn't sign an extension, Suppan, and Torres. I agree to a point, I just don't think they should punt because they lose Sheets. Suppan won't go anywhere because of his contract and why would we trade Torres?
  14. I disagree -- If a team should win 81 games, and they win 85 or 75, the first place I would look is at the manager. That's different, you are looking at wins from projection, not wins and losses. If the Nats win 81 games and the Red Sox won 81 games, would you say the managers did an equal job?
  15. As has been discussed before, Corey wants to wait to get a full season of production in before he signs a deal so he maximizes his value. Corey Hart will be extended this offseason, book it.
  16. I think don't think win-loss should ever be brought into consideration for a pitcher or coach. There are too many other variables that come into play for those two factors. Win-loss for teams is a decent way to look at the past, however, it really shouldn't be an issue in what is to be expected going forward. There are much better ways to measure future performance.
  17. so you think that a AA player can step in and replace Fielder next year? in his first year at a new position? 40+ hr, 100+ rbi? possilbe, but very unlikley. He actually played 1B all through college. He's an playing 1B in the Future's game. RF is the new position for him. I do not expect him to hit 40+ HR or drive in 100 RBIs. If he is put in the 4 hole, then yes, he would drive in 100 RBIs. If he is 6th or 7th, I'd be very happy with 75-80. I feel he would hit around 20-28 HRs. His defense at first would help narrow the gap between he and prince. The 9 million we would be saving could go to a free agent 3B or OF, or it could be used to help sign Sheets.
  18. I agree, but LaPorta will be about 9 million dollars cheaper.
  19. The problem isn't necessarily love for the minor league guys, its more of the fact that Prince is a valuable commodity tha is replacable. We are going to be in desparate need of pitching next season and Prince could be the way we obtain that pitcher. Lets face it, Prince is our Ryan Braun this year. How much of his offensive production is negated by very poor defense? Laporta or Gamel could come in, be average run producers, play much better defense, and be just as valuable to the team, on top of netting us an above average pitcher and some prospects.
  20. There are a few stats that stand out to me about Gagne. His BABIPA is at .330 when his career is .290. His GB% is right on line with his career, but his LD% is a little inflated and FB% is a little deflated. His one obvious flaw this year is the HR. He has a 26.3% HR/RB ratio. His career is 8.3%. This seems like a number that is statistically unsustainable. I can't imagine him giving up HRs at the rate he did the first part of this season. All in all, I think he will be an average pitcher. But there is a chance he could be good or ever very good. I just don't see that chance with DeFelice. And as Backupcatchers said, why not have them both available? it sure seems like the Cubs have a knack for picking up scrap (Reed Johnson and Jim Edmonds) and turning them into something productive. I'm sure we'd love to see that happen to Gagne.
  21. it won't justify the contract Is there really anything that will justify his contract at this point. I say no, but I still think he can be valuable. I hope Gagne is effective and valuable, but i'd put the chances that he performs at Cy Young quality at awfully small. I never said I thought that Gagne would be Cy Young caliber again this year. I also never said I thought that DeFelice would stay average this year. That is just the best case scenarios for both players. It doesn't take much to be an average bullpen pitcher, and frankly, I'd be amazed if Gagne wasn't at least average.
  22. Has he been that way since he gave up roids? First half last year... do we know exactly when he gave them up?
  23. I'm out of toes to keep counting reasons to hate the cubs.
