  1. I wont complain. I am not an outfielder and it's even that much more difficult with no fence behind you. You can't gauge the distance and are almost forced to give up bloop hit, then try to play in and get beat over your head on the very next play. Unfortunately, with no fence, getting beat over your head means HR instead of double. When I went to the mound last night Matt, I was just grabbing the ball for you on my way to third base, as Nick had wanted to go to the outfield. If you need a break, I can start also, but definitely need to try and move to the IF or at a minimum, the right side of the outfield.
  2. 5th Inning *nullbyte singled, scoring bball123h, lcbj68c to third, radman12484 to second. I scored from second on Nullbyte's single. Give the man his Ribbie! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. The poster was quick in his original research, followup research must not be yielding any ammunition.
  4. Normally, I get upset w/ losing, but I was really encouraged by this team's drive in staying in this game. We basehit them to death those last 2-3 innings. Our fielding needs to improve. I usually try and get a practice going every saturday. For whoever can't do saturday's, call me or PM me and I'll pitch balls to you or hit you balls to practice your D. Improvement only comes with repetition.
  5. Wow, 2 threads in a row...That's all I was asking TLB.
  6. You can spray paint a turd, but it's still called poop.
  7. Can we get a comparison from another team similiar to our wins and losses? Sweeps are very difficult in modern baseball. I doubt we are far from average in this department. I doubt this is a managerial issue.
  8. That is a good point, but come on do you really think Ryan Braun is Scott Podsednik? No, No, Not at all. The original comment was "I think it is safe to say he's going to be great." I dont think 1 year is "safe anything".
  9. Leaving the house now. Haircut..then play ball!
  10. I happened to be on duty for the night game at Miller Park for the first dispersal. Let's put it this way. All the keys are the same, there is a website on the key packaging that tells you to go to www.gofindthemoney.com. Once there, it tells you to take the key to the Casino to redeem 100 entries into a drawing. I was so disappointed...very lame. I dont want to be in a drawing, I dont want to fill out 100 slips of paper. I just wanted to try my key in a box at a chance of winning. The casino disapoints again with it's same ol same ol style of gaming by trying to entice the public into "entering a drawing". Getting old.
  11. 1 Year does not a career make Respectfully, Scott Podsednik
  12. I swing a Worth Mayhem and the blue/silver Easton Synergy. I prefer the Worth Mayhem. I dont personally hit for power, but the ball really jumps off this bat and gets in the gaps quick.
  13. :Sigh: I knew I shouldn't have bothered him "while he was working". It's a madhouse up there come "go time". Glad we finally got er.
  14. Any tips or tricks for landing tixs in the first three sections for Rascal Flatts, instead of dishing out $600.00??
  15. When will you be ready to? How long is too long? By the time he is 30? 5 more years of this garbage? I'm not for Crabbe being a long term starter, but I certainly think he can't do any worse. Crabbe brings certain value that Rickie doesn't. It's what you prefer out of a second baseman. Some like the fact that he has the projection to be a Brandon Phillips and jack the ball out of the yard at some point. I don't. I want my second baseman to be speedy and play solid defense and not K with RISP, etc. No, he wont stay at .190 forever, but he is a career .242 hitter. The most time he spent at any level was AA and he was a .252 hitter there with an over 2:1 K:BB ratio. I think that is the real Rickie Weeks. And that's fine, the only problem is he is a terrible defender on balls that he gets to .962 career fielding percentage. Bat him 8th, in the mean time, look for different long term options.
  16. So could you make some of those plays? After 5 years of playing, and 1000 chances, I'm bound to find a nut, yes. Law of Averages baby doll http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  17. Wow, thought I was alone. Projections don't mean much to me after 4 years. You are what you are. Regardless of your spot in the order, hit the freakin ball. When you come up the second time around, you are probably not the leadoff, so just hit the freaking ball. Stop making excuses, sniffle sniffle, bad luck, hit in right at somebody, gee schucks, get the job done, bottom line.
  18. For crying out loud, it's the major leagues. Every squirrel finds a nut here and there. Just about every second baseman has a highlight reel dive on ESPN here and there. I can't rationalize that making him from terrible to slightly below average. 30 foot throws should not sail over 1st baseman heads and relay throw should not be 82' feet in the dirt. Having a diving grab a few times a year doesn't change much, it's the routine stuff that causes unearned runs and losses that kills this team more than a handful of occassions a year he shows up on the top ten, as does nearly every professional athlete once in a while.
  19. I'd argue it's the whole package. His arm cost us a double play in a Gagne blown save, etc. But sugar coat it however you want. The bat, the glove, the shoes, the caught stealings, the flavor of sunflower seeds. The guy has got to get it going, or hop a bus to Tennessee.
  20. Too many if, come, maybe's for me. Eventually you have to stop buying into all, "hit the ball hard, but right at somebody" line. .190 is .190. There are other frustrating facts about Rickie Weeks game that batting average is just a start. He certainly must be moved down in the order, but let's be honest here, he's another Bill Hall then who can swing freely and will K even more and walk less since he won't be less patient and walking wont be a priority. Move him down, but move him down to the 8 hole.
  21. Actually Rillo, you are right, his arm has gotten better, it's just that darn tough 30' throw that gives him fits.
  22. http://www.bjacked.net/LuvToHunt/forums/phpBB2/modules/gallery/albums/album01/Beat_Dead_Horse.jpg
  23. And how can we fix his glove? Move him to left bench?
  24. I kinda agree with this, however I don't think Frank Kremblas or Ted Simmons are the answer at getting over the hump. Since I can't see those guys taking this team from average to good, then I dont see a change this season? Who's available to come in mid-season to make this team good? Firing Ned Yost tomorrow doesn't suddenly make the Brewers a good road team, doesn't suddenly make the Pirates series a series win or anything else. It won't make Rickie Weeks field the ball better, hit the ball better, or any of those on the field things that are costing this team games. It might be a short-term motivator, but being motivated doesn't neccessarily translate on the field.
