  1. So when Roger threw the broken bat at Piazza, that was just flirting?
  2. I like Taylor Green as wel, but he does need some work with the glove. He is averaging an error nearly every 4-5 days. Offensively though, he is all of the things I need from a 2b. Almost 1:1 on BB:KK ratio. He doesn't steal bases, but he does hit for some power as well. He is averaging a home run every 40 atbats, which would translate to about 15 a season at the big league level.
  3. I didn't call him Santa... I said believing in him was like believing in Santa. ie.."He'll only come around once a year". "He looks better in Red (Cardinal Red, Red Sox Red)" etc. Calling him Santa, now that is harsh. Rickie Weeks isn't 350 lbs! Come on Now.
  4. I dont have an opinion, but I think it is a fair comparison, not apples to oranges.
  5. God Forbid Billy Hall move positions again, that is so hard on a player!
  6. How did I dump on Weeks? I'm just saying that I think believing in Rickie Weeks is nearing the point of believing in Santa Claus. I'd love to see him healthy and playing well, but that's not any different than any other Brewer. I think Rickie Weeks problems are mostly mental and there is no fixing that. I dont think he has great baseball smarts and it shows in the mental aspects of the game, ie. plate discipline, field strategy, when to throw the ball, etc. It's the complete opposite of a David Eckstein, who doesn't have the utmost talent in the world, but makes up for it by being baseball smart and fundamentally sound. But No, I'm not trying to dump on Weeks and yes, him playing well would do something for me, but I want to see every Brewer succeed.
  7. How about Santa Claus? I reckon they are nearing the same premise?
  8. Like practice last Friday? P.S. you know I'm just busting your groin. We had a good time working exlusively on hitting the other way, missed ya.
  9. I've been in contacts with a few, but I like the idea. United Way I assume works w/ flood victims. If anybody else knows, please advise
  10. Plate Discipline, for one is his biggest tool. He doesn't think too hard on defense. I dont think his range is better than Weeks, but his brain is. He runs "under control, if that makes sense. Fundamentally sound. He's quick to get himself set and makes the throw. If the runner beats it, fine, but he isn't going to throw it in the dugout or the stands. Not neccessairly a power bat and slightly above average when it comes to stolen bases.
  11. I dont think there is too much to be read into Crabbe being at AAA and not on the 40 man. I'm a Crabbe fan, so I'm bias. But all it means to me is that the organization is not ready to give up on Weeks, considering his "upside we always hear about" and his salary. And they value Counsell too much as the backup for veteran leadership. Therefore Callix gets regular hacks at AAA until something happens, which wont be known till an exam is conducted on Weeks. Everybody else seems to get a shot from AAA, why not Crabbe? Are people that pigeon-holed on Rickie Weeks that an alternative look would be so bad?
  12. Mods, Please pin this to keep at the top please. There seems to be some interest in playing a game pitting Madison vs Milwaukee. I am also in the process of trying to develop a charity game or tournament to be held possibly at Miller Park, perhaps the Main Stadium or maybe Helfaer Field with a flight-restrictive ball. The game would look to be near August/September. If you are interested in playing, coaching, or helping out with any aspects of this event, please post here or pm me regarding how you can help out. I am just in the beginning stages, so I dont have a lot of details other than I am trying to line things up to get it done. I am looking for input or any assistance, such as tailgate grills and things of that nature. A home run derby type event and other ideas are welcome ideas. We'd probably have a block of 4 hours, if I can get it done at Miller Park. The only thing I ask is please don't make this thread "Insert team here" is gonna whip that "insert team here" "insert body part" here, back and forth banter. Thanks ~Luke
  13. And the Milwaukee river crest is no more than 5'
  14. I have no problem with the PH, just not dillon, as it was proven last night he could not come through when needing a PH, how about a fly ball hitter like Rivera?
  15. Didn't Dillon fail at this last night, why again tonight? I dont get that PH decision there.
  16. why can't we hit dingers, rather the top of the wall?
  17. Apparently, Jason Kendall has no value as his avg is only .244 :rolls eyes: See: Are we the worst team up the middle thread
  18. Dave bush cant do anything right, he's his own rally killer. That said, this game is not over
  19. I dont have a problem with it against the right hander, plus he may be bruised up from last night...we don't know.
  20. Me Neither. And my damn satellite dish is still out. I guess it's up to radio tonight.
  21. It's simple. Weaver can be guaranteed his release, IF HE REQUESTS, if the Brewers dont offer him a major league contract by June 15th. Weaver is not pitching well enough to deserve an offer. He knows it, the Brewers know it. The Brewers won't offer and Weaver won't object until he starts dealing. The June 15th deadline is a non-issue at this point. If Weaver's smart, and I think he is, he'll keep battling in AAA becaues he knows no other team is going to offer at this point either.
  22. As a long time vaunted Yost-Supporter and advocate, I am officially done. I've never screamed at my tv over a bullpen move like I did last night and that was before Mota even threw a pitch. Each hit with no response from Yost to make a change was more and more exasperating. I've supported a lot of the things he did and still believe in the general way he managers a game, but no longer with the bullpen. Any other manager, when a reliever gets lit up for two line drive shots makes a change with no outs and he didn't do it, nevermind the fact that a change did not need to be made from Villanueva anyhow. I believe it was some Shakespeare novel, "I bite thee thumb at you" which is the equivilant of a 1 finger salute. With a golden opportunity to get within 2 of the wildcard and a handful back of the Cubs, you sir sat in the dugout absoulutely clueless as to how to step up a be a leader. Unfold your tattoo stricken arms and go take charge, snatch the ball out of that goofy arse blue glove and show this team, this administration, this fan base that he failed with the first two batters and you aren't standing for it. But no. Instead sit back and watch another tick be added to the loss column you stubborn piece.
  23. I think the 4 of them are adequate. Not great, but adequate. If you had 9 great players at every position, they'd all be All-stars, etc. With the exception of Rickie Weeks, I think there defensive talents, baseball knowledge, leadership, etc make up for their inadaquacies at the plate. I think the roster is pretty well balanced that I dont need all 9 starters having a high SLG or OPS, etc. If it weren't hard to overcome, it wouldnt be a competition http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'm sure there isn't a team out there that says they'd like to get a little something more out of 4 specific ballplayers on their team. With these 4, it just happens to be hitting the ball. But again, you get something above average in a different skill set for that player.
