  1. BHF, I believe your refering to me. Now I don't know this because this is my first year getting autos at the players lots but one of the regulars was telling me July and August are really bad months. Players are tired from the grind of the game, and therefore don't sign as much. For me there was a huge contrast in the players I obtained in May than in July, but it could have just been the day because I've only been there a handful of times. Now, I'd still reccomend going because I've never been turned down by Hardy, Jenkins, Mench, Suppan, or Wise. BHF and myself I believe are going tomorrow so maybe we can give you guys some kind of report or hopefully see you down there. PS. I don't have a problem with the groupies, but there is this one guy who is an absolute jerk. He called Corey Hart an ****** after the game because he was walkin his 3 kids to his cars and couldn't sign autographs. From what I've heard this is isn't first time doing it, and it just absolutly disgusts me that someone could be that conceted! Alright, so now I want to try this!! Where exactly is the player's lot? And I thought autograph Friday's was after the gates opened but before the game? Now I need to show up between Noon and 3pm? I'm confused. Note: It was so easy at Tropicana Field, you only had to fend off 10-12 people from the 1,500 that showed up for the gamehttp://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/roll.gif
  2. Fireable, yikes. I don't want that to happen. Honestly, I just want some assistance in arranging a certain question popping experience minus the scoreboard. That is, if I even want a stadium type atmosphere anyways. Beginning stages only, just wanted some input from somebody working with entertainment or that spectrum of the baseball club. But if it's a fireable issue, I could call around MP and waste time going from rep to rep until finding the right ones. :sigh: http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/grin.gif
  3. Do any of our illustrious posters work for the Brewers in any capacity? Please PM, I need some information. Thanks in advance.
  4. LOL Rather than just leave my discussion on a funny photo, I will add that I think Barrett is a little different than Estrada. Barrett's unpopularity was pretty open between Zambrano and the other players. I'd also like to see the pitching matchups that MIller has played with and see if it lends any further discussion to the drastic winning percentage. I highly doubt Estrada is unliked in the clubhouse. Again, I believe the truth is somewhere in the middle with the strained hammy and being slow in general. Yost doesn't like to sub for his catcher, that's well known and I can see him telling Johnny to play at half speed. On the other hand, I can see him benching Johnny today to teach a lesson also. Until it becomes an everyday habit or the players start to talk badly, I'm willing to give Johnny a pass on this one.

  6. from rotoworld: 01/14/05: Signed two-year, $2.275 million contract w/vesting 2008 option. Details not sure what vesting 2008 option means. any ideas?
  7. Was a move made yet today? Gameday shows neither Parra nor Balfour on the reliever list?
  8. I'm sorry but how can that not bother you? You are in an extra innings game in a playoff run, you had better be running hard on every play. Hustling is one thing that every player can control. You don't need talent to hustle, to run fas yes but not to bust your butt down the line. Can we stop calling this a playoff run? It's July 23rd. Secondly, I didn't see the play, but if he didn't hustle, then shame on him, but I can't understand all the rush to have to find "blame" on a particular pitcher, hitter, fielder, coach for every god darn loss that happens to this team. It's not Sept 28th, it's not must win. Now that's not an excuse not to hustle, but this is baseball, not one play does a game make so why the quickness to blame Estrada and basically start a thread that he doesn't care about his job over 1 failed task? Hell, I printed wrong information on a form last week. It was 1 form of over hundreds of arrest paperwork I filled out, doesn't mean I don't care about my job.
  9. I read somewhere's that the average ticket price when the Miller Park sells out is $33.50. So $33.50 x 44,000 is right around 1.47M. I can't begin to imagine what the take is on parking and concessions, bu then again can't imagine what the electric bill there would be there for 6 hours either.
  10. Thanks, leaving shortly. Haven't been since vacationing here and attending opening day. I think I did the general lot that day, but just trying to be thrifty today since all these moving expenses are killing me. Thank again for the prompt replys. Maybe i'll try that supermarket lot on the corner of National and Miller pkwy.
  11. Real quick. I've finally moved back home two days ago and am going to the game tonight yay! I'm trying to be thrifty, so somebody please give me the lowdown on off-site parking. I imagine the VA lots are still offlimits (I got a ticket there 6 years ago and yes, they sent me letters till I paid). Is National Ave street parking easy, or is it better off on the north side of the stadium, like bluemound. Thanks in advance.
  12. Jake Peavy is getting the nod to start the All-star game, big surprise. I was however surprised that Prince is batting 6th. Griffy Jr is getting the cleanup spot with Bonds all the way up at #2. Link
  13. Rental Car Companies, How do you sleep at night? We are moving home from Florida and need a small van for some of our belongings. I understand that Ryder and Uhaul want an arm and leg for that 1982 Datsun, but Enterprise and Thrifty and all you disappoint me. And they wait until the last minute on their quotes too. It's only 220.00 to rent the car for three days, but the little buggers add a $462.00 "drop off fee", I assume because it was driven 1,400 miles and they figure they have to what..drive it back? 50,000 cars in the fleet and the darn thing can't just be rotated. Ugh.
  14. While watching the game tonight. In the top of the 2nd, Gwynn hit a screamer towards 3rd that absoultely froze Zimmerman. My fiancee, who never misses one of my softball games, screamed, "ATE HIM UP". While pretty bush league in major league baseball, I wondered if anybody knew of any instances of players crossing the line and trash talking ala what goes on in bar league softball games. Do any major leaguers have a trash talking reputation?
  15. Hello Mr. Gwynn, We need you back...see ya tomorrow. edit: more descriptive title --splitterpfj edit: new title to reflect discussion --1992casey edit: new title to reflect new information --1992casey
  16. yeah casey, game 2 of the first round of the playoffs. I think it's clear-cut Suppan given the reasoning in my earlier post. Maybe Capuano if the opposing teams have a ton of lefties only. Suppan has the 2nd most wins of any starter, has playoff experience (hell, add a NLCS MOP player award). Give him the ball, despite a higher than anticipated regular season ERA.
  17. That was my thought Bwaz on the 24 straight days of play going against the contract. Why double-had it in Sept, when it could rain again? Forecast is clear for Thursday. Why take the chance of only playing 161?
  18. That's easy. Jeff Suppn starts game 2. Given his playoff experience and ability to keep the team in the game, he has the 2nd most wins among the starts, eats lots of innings. Jeff Suppan starts game #2, hands down. Only other option would Capuano if the opponent has a ton of tough lefthanded batters. Other than it, it's easily Suppan.
  19. Either way, I believe it is a mockery of the game. Sit him for two series so he can do it at home? Not take full swings, so you dont hit dingers? What is this, bar league softball?
  20. I doubt they will screw around too much tomorrow with it being a holiday and all. May call it early and play two on Thursday Pittsburg Weather Report 7/4/07 A lot of rain...
  21. yeah, he got the raw end of the shaft, about....3 times
  22. Yeah, long story short. The ball carried over the yellow line front fence and then hit my coach's glove. Some doofus hit my coach in the back almost simultanously, causing him to lurch forward and get double over the 2nd fence. At county stadium, there was that 4' trench between the two fences. So from Davidson's crappy viewpoint (where's the hustle to get a good look Davidson?), It may have looked like he came over the other fence to get the ball, but it was physically impossible given the 4' trench. To make matters worse, while coach is doubled over the fence, some punk from NY jumps into the trench and then steals the ball out of my coach's glove and runs off. My coach gets an ejection from his seat (for fan interference) given a trespassing fine of 518.00 and gets the ball stolen. Eventually went on People's Court and got denied, with the judge saying it's impossible to determine how long a person must have the ball for it to be considered "possession". He also fought the trespassing citation with video evidence showing it a home run and not trespassing, but again denied because Davidson called fan interference from his crappy position 200' away.
  23. Just a side note, I was involved in the McGwire saga. The guy (Chapes) was my cross-country coach and I had bought ten tickets for family in July for the front row when I knew it might be close. One of my family didn't make it and I gave the last ticket to my cross country coach. We ended up part of history. McGwire Hits 65, robbed of 66 P.S. Just for the record, I was two seats away at it was a HR.
  24. If I caught the home run ball. (Not that it'll be his last anyway) 1) Systematically take it apart at the seams 2) Tear the cover off 3) Cut the cover into little 1'' x 1'' piesces 4) destroy the inner thread as much as possible. 5) Drink lots of Miller Lite and store secretions 6) Take a long steamy piss over the whole pile of cut up ball 7) Put it in a box, mail it to the offices at PacBell and tell him that's what I think of him breaking the record.
  25. Sundown, maybe it's just the amount of plays he gets in center field, but the diving grabs get him the honorable mention considering he's only 80 games into being an outfielder. it's definitely not an award for making the routine look ugly. LOL
