  1. Garcia HAS to try and get into a run-down, doesn't he? Great job by whoever was backing that up to give it a chance. Perez?
  2. I sure wish I knew what's going on with this. Now if you wanna talk Kent Murphy.... I guess there was a stray Cubs fan in here earlier this month that rambled incoherently in the IGT repeatedly about his youth baseball coach (Cooper) who taught him all the ways of baseball and life. Something like that.
  3. Does anybody know their charter details? Do they normally go into General Mitchell and come through the general public areas, like Austin Straubel (Packers)?
  4. Of course they are. Right now, though, the Brewers are better team than the Cubs. I think the Cardinals take at least one, if not two this weekend. My point being, whether they are playing their hearts out or playing for win #60, it's the same team in a huge rivalry. Them needing to win isn't going to change the way they play. I agree that STL can win 2 and think they will win 2, but not because they are "playing their hearts out".
  5. From about a dice roll to almost a coin flip. And when you look at the remaining schedule, the Brewers have a much easier road on paper. Nova and Williams are really rough matchups for them the next two days, and you know the Cardinals are going to be playing their hearts out this week just to stay alive. While I understand that, aren't they playing their hearts out right now?
  6. 1. MIL 2. ATL 3. COL 4. CHC 5. STL 6. LAD This has to be best case scenario, right? STL beats CHC in Wild Card game and we get STL for NLDS and COL for NLCS?
  7. There's a whole thread dedicated to it, but I finally cut the cord last week after 17 years with DTV. Occasional outage for snowfall (I live in Utah), never bothered me. Hated cable, their packages, etc. and always needed Sunday Ticket for Packers games anyways. That said, I got Sunday Ticket streaming for $99 as a returning college student and we are doing Hulu with much happiness.
  8. If MLB Gameday is to be believed (I'm not watching the game), strike three was just the tiniest bit outside of the strike zone. In fact, part of the circle representing the ball is barely touching the corner of the zone. Maybe it looked worse on TV. I never believe Gameday, PitchFX, etc. Prefer balls and strikes to be subjective decision.
  9. Cardinals tv announcers are losing their minds. Apparently you should just be able to berate the umpire without recourse, because it's September.
  10. How do the Phillies just completely collapse out of that NL East race? Kapler? Overachieved smoke and mirrors?
  11. I hate replying with a lack of substance, but you put my feelings into words so very well. Winning matters. It's not the only thing, no. I'd give Trout a 2nd place vote though. Not voting Trout for 1st place MVP doesn't diminish him in any way. It's not a slight on him at all. But the MVP vote for me, is going to be a guy that elevates his team into the post-season, at a minimum. You can ballyhoo over the terminology all you want, but to me, it's not a most outstanding player award. If that were the case, we'd use an objective measure like fWAR. It's a most valuable player award. The most valuable players are those who cause their team to play in October. It's a subjective measure to me and thus Betts.
  12. This. Exactly why I feel Trout winning the AL MVP over Betts is asinine.
