  1. I won't go into it again but what you are missing in your math is that only 75% of the time does the bunt move the runner. You have to include the 25% of the time it fails into the math. You don't get to just point at 3rd and the runners move over, you have to execute first. The math you showed up is what would happen if the bunt worked 100% of the time and it simply does not. The final math shows you lower your chance to score a run by about 2%. That is completely context neutral so the context behind the specific bunt has to make up that 2% somehow. That is where the opinion part of it comes in. If someone believes that was a much better than average situation to bunt in that makes up the 2% I'm all cool with that. I just disagree with them. But I'm done with the discussion. I just don't like someone saying my math proved they were right when it clearly proved they were wrong. Math is a big deal to me. I won't go into it again....then two paragraphs later...
  2. There was an article not too long ago about Pitch/FX and the reliability of it's data. The end result to me was that the Std Dev was too great in terms of inches both vertically and horizontally for me to even care about it anymore. FWIW...just about nil, IMHO.
  3. "I wasn't following the IGT yesterday at the end, but I assume this debate is on the non-bunt call for Pina? Looks like the bunt was the better play, but that is assuming it gets down and the following hitters don't K." I don't think you have the luxury of hindsight on the last part. Either you make the choice to bunt or you don't...can't see the result first to justify (or not) the decision. I would have called for a bunt myself. CC does not deploy a good strategy offensively very well in the late innings. Been my criticism of him.
  4. I swear we lead the league in walks allowed. I guess it's 7th. Doesnt feel like 7th.
  5. Why is Susac directing Arcia to slide there?!?
  6. Do you think there is such a thing as a "hitter setting up a pitcher"? I believe it was the 0-1 pitch to Broxton (seemed fastball middle in), where Broxton opened his hips and flailed at the ball while basically sliding his feet all over the place, and pulling off badly to left field. I almost came on to post that might have been the most terrible swing I've seen in a while. Then on the 3-2 pitch, he got the same exact pitch and had a beautiful swing that resulted in a home run. It made me wonder whether maybe Broxton was baiting Santana that he couldn't hit that pitch and wanted it again? Or maybe Broxton is just that inconsistent?
  7. I would think both of them are pretty upset Tip of the cap, Sir!
  8. I live in FL so I'd love it if the Brewers' spring training moved to FL. Come to SW Florida and join Boston and the Twins. This. But be prepared for the backlash on here. You know it rains sometimes in Florida and the parks are so far apart. :eyeroll:
  9. Dewayne Staats is unbearable.
  10. I lived there for 11 years. 12,000 is generous. They may report based upon sales. Actually butts in seats is more like 4,000.
  11. I like BA. I think he is articulate. I think he is truthful. I think he is factual. I think he is a professional in the industry as referenced by his opportunities in the business to do other things. Schroeder is not my cup of tea. I think he is full of hyperbole. I find him factually incorrect multiple times a week, yet he seems to have no clue that what he said was untruthful. I've never mentioned BS in this forum. The other night, I was watching the ballgame with my son, been trying to teach him the nuances of the game, strategy, etc. I, for the first time ever, mentioned my disdain for the aloof Schroeder in the IGT and basically got ran off the message board as being hateful. I'm not hateful. Instead, what I would like is for him to be factual when describing the action. Lepay is wonderful for football radio. One of the best in that element. Living on the west coast, I don't often hear Augustine. I still enjoy listening to Uecker but don't much care for his current partner, who's name escapes me at the moment.
  12. Yup. 3 Months of House Money..eventually they were going to start turning 6 showing into some 21's.
  13. Looking like another one of those games where the Brewers don't score beyond the first 2 innings.
  14. I hope that was a failed attempt at being funny and not actually trying to hate on Bill. I have never previously made a comment or post about Bill in my life. I don't hate Bill. I wish Bill were a bit more factual in this particular circumstance.
  15. Actually, the best scenario without a hit would be a 4 base error resulting in a 3 run play, Martinez getting hurt and leaving the game, Molina punching the umpire and getting suspended for the rest of the season, then followed by another umpire finding Kris Bryant's bat that he left in the clubhouse filled with cork and a needle full of HGH resulting in his suspension and the Cubs forfeiture of their 2016 WS title. I mean, why let hyperbole get in the way?
  16. Man, some people just love to hate Bill Schroeder. They do?
  17. Bill Schroeder quote on Braun grounding out to score a run. "well, if you aren't going to get a hit, that's the best case scenario." - No Rock...the best case scenario without a hit would be reaching on a 2-run scoring error."
  18. Great rational post. This is a .470 talent ball club that played .540'ish for the first half. The small grief that I have with Stearns is that he didn't sell. That's not to say he didn't try, but probably didn't try hard enough or wasn't enamored with the return. If you believe in the bats at Biloxi and Colorado Springs, then trade the overachieving hitters in Milwaukee for some higher ceiling/controllable arms. I still can't figure out if the bullpen is retched, Counsell is clueless how to apply their talents to situations, or both.
  19. Big Trade probably involved Miami. Maybe some sort of sending Braun home with Stanton or Straily involvement.
  20. 3 St Louis (1-2) 3 @TB (2-1) 2 @Min (1-1) 2 Min (1-1) 3 Cinci (2-1) 2 Pitt (1-1) 3 @Col (1-2) 3 @SF (2-1) 3 @ LAD (0-3) 2 STL (1-1) 1 Washington (0-1) 12-15 Overall. Cubs go 15-14. Cubs up 4.5 going into September.
  21. Not as bad as I predicted. Off by 2 Games. 2.5GB and have a chance to be square come September 1 given Cubs difficult August.
  22. Ditto. Steal on 1st or 2nd pitch, then Thames bunt him over. But CC won't do it. He'll want 3 hits to win it. Just his m.o. late on offense.
