Haha, Kotsay AND YunE with a 3 H game. I would love to see a road sweep of the Cards with Kotsay, YunE and Counsell taking turns being the hero each game. I'm pretty sure the in-game threads would implode.
Jordan Lyles says what upIs Lyles really considered that big of a prospect? 3.49 ERA and 1.293 WHIP in his minor league career as compared to Sheets' 2.88 career minor league ERA. Sheets had a 2.40 ERA at the age of 21 in the minors. Of course Lyles is only 20 years old right now and pitching in MLB so I guess I can see the point that he's been rushed but I don't see him as a Sheets type talentI think the point is rushed up, eating up service time for no reason and putting unnecessary wear and tear on his arm.
Really? I can't see Cardinal Nation tolerating the Lambeau Leap (the actual leap, not the site...well, maybe also the site).Maybe I'm wrong, but when I lived in Wisconsin and people met transplants from out-of-state, we didn't ridicule them for not abandoning their hometown allegiances for the Packers. Living in St. Louis for the last five years, people are beside themselves when they find out I'm still a Brewers fan. That's the difference. There's this expectation that you'll just fall in love with the Cardinal nation because they are the Cardinal nation. They're more like the baseball equivalent of the Cowboys.
So funny when you consider all the STL media members getting their britches in a bunch and calling Greg Matzek a fan in the locker room. What a homer. Re: Pujols HBP That guys so clearly isn't afriad to be pitched inside that on two "dangerous inside pitches" above his shoulders, he stepped into them, hitting his bat on one and nearly fouling off the other one if he had let go of his bat.
I think you're oversimplifying what hewas saying. He was advocating for the Brewers mangerial approach which takes the long-term view that guys who under perform will eventually return to the mean. Rather than calling up a guy like Green with great AAA numbers, but you don't know how he'll perform in MLB. I know that people on this board widely don't agree with that approach, but I don't think he was ever calling Yuni "good." Just better than he has been. As far as the coin analogy, I think he oversimplified it too. It is one of the first things they teach you in stats class tho, the more you flip a coin the closer and closer it tends to get to be a 50-50 split.
@Nate_Grimm Wait...you have to hit THREE home runs to get a curtain call in Milwaukee? #WorstFansInBaseball #BFIB http://twitter.com/Nate_G...status/98854931779436545 Don't forget that STL Cards fans are the best in baseball. If you don't believe it, just ask one.
Yes, it's factored in to the Plushdamental index. By the way, Nyjer is far and away the leader in the Plushdamental index by having 555,444,333,222,111 points. Braun is second with 10.Welcome to my new signature.
They were all over him during the broadcast last night; mocking the Doorman. It was really bush league. Hope i don't have to take a phone call from TLR for using that term.
...and then there is the complete other end of the spectrum. One of the Cardinals TV announcers claimed that Yadi was being pushed by the umpire first. Later in the clip, the radio announcers placed all the blame on the umpire saying, "Drake took the helmet off and started barking at Yadier. Then Yadier got right in his face." I usually don't have a problem with the local TV or radio crew being homers, but there has to be a limit. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=17599219&topic_id=&c_id=mlb&tcid=vpp_copy_17599219&v=3 Cardinals media is the absolute worse. I know people here don't like TH and the TV announce team at times. But they pale in comparison to the guys that work for the Cards and dudes who cover the team at the Post-Dispatch.
Apparently it was Greg Matzek at 620. He's going on with a sports radio station in St. Louis at 8:45 (I live in St. Louis and caught the promo on my way into work this morning). You can hear the interview here: http://tunein.com/radio/Team-1380-s35381/
