  1. Looks like the Cubs are using the big boys tonight, except for Soto: LF Soriano SS Theriot 1B Lee 3B Ramirez RF DeRosa CF Johnson 2B Cedeno C Blanco P Zambrano SS J. Reyes LF Murphy 3B Wright 1B Delgado CF Beltran RF Church C Schneider 2B A. Reyes P Perez
  2. Wow, I realized they seemed to be wearing the whites and grays less than usual this year, but I didn't know it was to that extent. Only 34 games in the whites and 30 in the grays.
  3. Hey, look who's on the front page of ESPN.com: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/jami3406/princeespn.jpg
  4. This team is making the playoffs. Incredible finish.
  5. Words cannot describe how much I hate seeing Counsell and Kendall hit back-to-back. Nothing like having a guy on second with 1 out and knowing there's next to no chance of getting him in.
  6. Wild pitch...cool. Now if Hart gets out trying to steal third, I might scream.
  7. I'm pretty sure if you took the DNA of Juan Pierre and Tony Gwynn Jr. and combined them into one crappy baseball player test tube baby, you'd get Nyjer Morgan. Yet he owns Dave Bush.
  8. Awesome Tavern of the Night name..."The Dam Bar Under the Bridge". Let's try to avoid walking the pitcher that's hitting .167 this time, Dave.
  9. Yeesh..so close to tying it up on that Braun liner down the line, and they come up empty. Karstens has definitely read the scouting reports -- you get Braun with the high heat and Fielder with the stuff low and away.
  10. Thanks a freaking lot, Cubs. It was probably foolish thinking they'd beat Santana tonight, but this inning from their bullpen has been brutal. It's like a fusion between the Mets and Brewers bullpens, creating a giant vortex of Suck.
  11. Much better inning from Bush there. Let's hope the offense can get this thing tied again.
  12. Minutes after the Mets tie the Cubs, the Pirates draw even against the Brewers. Minutes after Bush gives up the lead to the Pirates, the Cubs fall behind 3-2 at the hands of Ramon freaking Castro. Maddening.
  13. Not exactly the kind of inning I was hoping for against Santana in the 6th...looks like he'll get at least 1 more inning now. Edit: Go Dan in for Marshall now.
  14. Nyjer freaking Morgan again...ugh. At least they looked like they were hitting Karstens well early. This one's far from over.
  15. I'll laugh if the Brewers let the Pirates tie it just minutes after the Mets tied the Cubs. Irony.
  16. I've always hated David Wright. Now I have a new reason. Hopefully the Cubs can chase Santana soon, or maybe get another run in off him.
  17. Braun says "I don't need bunts ahead of me to get runners in." On a related note, thank God for the Pirates outfield. First the dropped ball that allowed Cameron to get on and then it looked like they misplayed the route on that ball hit by Braun. Edit: Ha...Braun never touched third. At least the Pirates didn't care enough to throw over to third.
  18. Zurch, I love the Villy mustache avatar. Nice first inning for Bush. I was afraid at what the reaction at MP would've been if he gave up one of his patented 3-run, first-inning homers.
  19. While I think the Dodgers would be a more manageable first round opponent for the Cubs than the Mets or Phillies, I think there's also the danger of getting the Brewers hot heading into the playoffs. Nearly every year, we see that the hottest team heading into the playoffs usually fares the best -- by sweeping the Cubs (whether it's the Chicago Cubs or Iowa Cubs), the Brewers would be heading into the postseason with a great deal of confidence, especially if they don't have to use Sabathia on three days' rest twice heading into that first round series. For the Brewers series, I'd expect Lou to do the same thing he's done since they've clinched the division -- maybe subbing one or two back-ups per day, pulling his pitchers after 5 or 6 innings, and using the rest of his bench players as subs later in the game. While it'd be nice to see the Cubs field a AAA lineup, it appears the most help we're going to get is Harden and Zambrano being switched around in the rotation so they don't pitch in that final series.
  20. Personally, I'm terrified that "looking to bring in his own man" means that Attanasio would let Jack Z walk out the door, too. But maybe that's the irrational Brewer fan in me that's just expecting everything to turn out for the worst. He has to at least give him an interview if he's letting Melvin go, doesn't he?
  21. The Brewers' playoff odds jumped from about 25% to almost 33%, and the team didn't even play last night. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. I'll agree that never really recovered, or even if he is healthy now, he fell into some bad habits compensating for the injury. He probably could've used another week off, but there was a lot of pressure for him to play after that Dodgers series, especially when he hit a pinch-hit HR in that series. The Kapler injury did kind of force him to stay in the lineup, because Braun at 60% is still better than Gwynn at 100%. Hopefully he takes enough time off in the offseason to get fully healthy and he'll come back for Spring Training ready to go.
  23. If the Cubs cough up what was an 8-2 lead, I think we should seriously consider cheering for the Mets tomorrow. I think we're the ones that are cursed.
  24. The Cubs are the best overall team in baseball, IMO, and it's not even really close. The Mets are on their 3rd pitcher of the game already, and it's the top of the 5th in a pretty important series. I saw that the New York media has been really getting on Jerry Manuel for his bullpen usage lately, and this probably won't help. While they definitely want to win this game, it's probably better to see this one as a lost cause and try again tomorrow with a bullpen that's not overworked.
  25. Let's say the Brewers win out from here and make it to a one-game playoff with the Mets for the wildcard spot. If they win that game, can BCU deduct one of the losses in the final stretch and have it still be considered as an 8-1 finish? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
