  1. Heh...Kendall hitting with two outs. Shock of the century. Maybe they can put something together against Hamels tomorrow, or at least rack up enough strikeouts that his pitch count gets too high to work deep into the game.
  2. I'd kill to have Russell Branyan available on the bench, but Yost would probably go to Counsell first anyway.
  3. How much of Prince struggling has to do with Hart pretty much being a non-factor at the plate since the All-Star Break?
  4. MLB.TV buffers at the worst possible times.
  5. Losing three of four wouldn't be the end of the world. It would suck, but it would still have the Brewers ahead in the standings.
  6. Because they hit like the Brewers (rely on the HR, tons of strikeouts, low OBP) and their starting pitching is quite a bit worse.
  7. I haven't heard anything officially, but you can bet it sounds something like: "Lamby's veteran, and he's been in a lot of playoff races. He's the kind of gritty battler you want pinch-hitting in a close important game." Gamel's lucky if he gets an AB in a 10-0 blowout. Ned's terrified to use the unproven guys anyway, let alone in a pennant chase.
  8. Yeah, it's kind of dumb that Villa gets stuck pitching in games the Brewers trail in, when guys like Gagne keep getting handed the ball in the 8th inning with a lead. I guess the point is to keep the deficit where it's at, rather than giving up more runs, which I can't really disagree with.
  9. Both pitchers getting squeezed tightly tonight...this ump is pretty bad.
  10. Ugh...and that's why Ryan Braun is still a pretty bad outfielder. He needs to take a better route on that.
  11. Now please keep the Phillies off the board this inning, Ben. It'd really suck to give a run or two back again.
  12. Ironically, a lot of the previews from the Philly side of things were saying the same things about the Brewers coming into this series, and they thought they were the ones with the dead bats. Weeks,Fielder,Hart, Hall and Kendall I would consider dead spots in the line up.... And I'd consider at least Ruiz and Feliz dead spots, while Utley and Victorino have been pretty bad to start this month and Burrell's been worse than Fielder since August (.181/.275/.343 in August and .182/.308/.273 this month). Both offenses are struggling a bit right now, but normally I'd consider them to be about even.
  13. Ironically, a lot of the previews from the Philly side of things were saying the same things about the Brewers coming into this series, and they thought they were the ones with the dead bats.
  14. Hall-Kendall-Sheets is like having three pitchers bat in a row at this point, with one of those pitchers being a Sabathia type that occasionally gets lucky with a HR.
  15. Way to judge that one, Corey. Ugh. Sheets doesn't have his good stuff, either...he can't seem to throw the fastball where Kendall wants it.
  16. Well I guess Howard was bound to start hitting Sheets at some point. The Phillies broadcast mentioned that Utley and Howard had something like 3 hits between them against Sheets coming into this game.
  17. I really, really wish Hart would give up trying to steal third. It's just stupid.
  18. At least Kendall didn't strike out. If the Brewers lose this game, what are the odds that Brewerfan explodes?
  19. "Bats, they are sick. I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid."
  20. Whoops. The harder you throw 'em, the harder they hit 'em. Hopefully the offense can show at least a little restraint against Moyer and chase him early.
  21. Just make the Cubs play a triple header on Monday. Problem solved. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. Phillies lineup, since the Brewers one was posted earlier: SS Rollins RF Werth 2B Utley 1B Howard LF Burrell CF Victorino 3B Feliz C Ruiz P Moyer
  23. Jamie Moyer debuted in 1986. The following are the (rough) ages of the players in tonight's starting lineup when Moyer debuted. Some may be off a little because I didn't take into account fractions of years. 2B Rickie Weeks - 4 SS J.J. Hardy - 4 LF Ryan Braun - 3 1B Prince Fielder - 2 RF Corey Hart - 4 CF Mike Cameron - 13 3B Bill Hall - 7 C Jason Kendall - 12 RHP Ben Sheets - 8 Alcides Escobar and Angel Salome were born that year. Mat Gamel was 1. In short, let's kick this old guy's butt.
  24. I really don't like pitching Sabathia tomorrow in what's pretty much still a meaningless game. Why not push his start back to the first game of the Phillies series, which would allow him to still pitch in all the other important series he was still scheduled to pitch in? Why waste a Sabathia start on the Reds when the Phillies are the team we're the most worried about right now?
