  1. Almost positive that Game 5 will start at 7:07 ct, if STL/PHI does not go the distance.
  2. TBS could definitely spill over onto TNT. There's just no way, imo, MLB could start a game at 9:30 pm local time.
  3. I imagine that the agendas of TBS and MLB are the same: maximize ratings. This overlaps with the other thread, but the Phillies have to play at night both on Saturday and Sunday because of daytime football games at the Linc.
  4. Take a moment to think about what just happened. My God.
  5. If Javy Guerra gives up a HR...I'm going to be irrationally upset
  6. Is it over yet? You guys remember this doozy? http://www.baseball-refer...s/ARI/ARI200807030.shtml
  7. I definitely want to play Arizona in the best-of-five. Then I want the Cardinals in the NLCS.
  8. I'll take it. I think a St. Louis-Philadelphia NLDS would be awesome. I'm scared of both of those teams, and I'd be thrilled not to have to play either in the NLDS
  9. Confirmed TBS gametimes (from the broadcasting forum I frequent): Thursday: 3 pm: BOS @ TB 7 pm: ATL @ STL Friday: 4 pm: Other AL Game 7:30: AL @ Yankees
  10. Considering conflicts/what TBS wants, I think we'll see these timeslots. Obviously, we'll know more tomorrow and on Wednesday: Saturday: There has to be an overlap on TNT; there is just no way around it. 12:30: Atlanta @ Milwaukee (TBS) 4:00: Tampa Bay @ Texas (TBS) 6:00: Arizona @ Philadelphia (TNT) 8:30: Detroit @ NY Yankees (TBS) Sunday: 3:30: Atlanta @ Milwaukee (TBS) 7:00: Arizona @ Philadelphia (TBS) -- Eagles have a 12 pm game, Phillies must play at night.
  11. I'm more annoyed with Daron Sutton than anybody on the Brewers right now. My God, he is insufferable.
  12. But it makes me kind of sad that baseball now has a worse playoff TV deal than even the NBA. No, it doesn't. ABC only showed NBA playoff games on Saturday/Sunday afternoons -- and none of the conference finals games. Fox will show the ALCS on several weeknights. At least under the new contract, none of the LCS games overlap, whereas a few years ago, you had to flip back and forth between Fox and FX.
  13. Somebody probably needs to verify this, but before the TBS contract, I thought a local affiliate was required to pick up MLB playoff games in a home market when that game was shown on cable -- like the NFL does for all games.
  14. IIRC, Anderson will call the Phillies series, no matter who they play. The Brewers will probably get Dick Stockton if they play the Braves.
  15. I couldn't disagree more. I don't know how long you've followed organized sports, or if you've ever been a part of a team, but you want your leaders to act like real leaders. Prince's comments are pretty ill timed, and gives a small indication of where his head is. See my post about Sabathia above. And don't kid yourself, they are getting paid regardless of what they do down the stretch. It's a little naive to think otherwise. Prince could go 0-rest of season, and he's still getting 100+mil. Believe that. I've been following organized (professional) sports my whole life. My point is that baseball is much more individualized than, say, football or basketball. "Chemistry" shouldn't be a focus, but for some reason, the members of the 'ol boys club put so much stock into it. I honestly think that Prince is just kinda dumb and he said something he shouldn't have said. These comments will have been old news by Friday night. Chemistry/leadership was a problem on the 2004 Lakers, but I don't think has ever affected the performance of a baseball team.
  16. The Brewers clinch on Sunday, 9/25, but they lose the #2 seed by 2 games. We finish 94-68.
  17. Sorry, I should have made myself clearer. Basically, the offense has been not-so-good most of the season, and Betancourt and McGehee are the major issues. They both should have been replaced a long time ago. For most of that amazing stretch the Brewers had, the offense has been just as bad as it is now -- the opposition has just gotten better since then. I guess I don't really care what K-Rod or Prince says to the media. I'm sure they both want to win the World Series as much as anybody and playing well down the stretch and in the playoffs bodes well for them in the pocketbook. I don't think commentary to the media will affect how the team plays.
  18. I'd have a lot more faith in our postseason chances if only one of McGehee/Betancourt was replaced. Just one of them. That's really what is contributing to our offense ineptitude lately. For such a self proclaimed 'loose' bunch, not only are they gripping those bats into sawdust, they are showing their true colors, mentally. See, I just can't buy that. They had a 5-0 stretch against PIT and LAD where the offense was putrid, but was masked by outstanding pitching. Nobody was talking about the offense then.
  19. That was literally identical to his last AB.
  20. I may be mistaken, but I think that the last time we roughed up a starter it was Edwin Jackson on August 3rd. We beat up the Pirates starter on 8/23 (7 runs in the second inning), but haven't come close to anything like that since.
  21. Yes but their schedule is a joke after that. So is ours, to be honest.
