  1. I'm very, very grateful that the Cardinals play their next 4 games in Philadelphia.
  2. I'll be there Monday night, camped out in the bleachers.
  3. That doesn't seem right to me either. I think there are only three, including last night: 9/13/11: vs. COL 9/26/09: vs. PHI 9/25/08: vs. PIT
  4. Honestly, when I saw the source (CBS Sportsline), I knew the premise of the article was fishy. In my experience, the writers on that site like to sensationalize non-stories.
  5. I think the Brewers have a better chance of winning the World Series if they play the Phillies in the LDS; they have a better chance of winning a playoff series if they play Atlanta. I don't really care what happens, as long as they play well during the final two weeks.
  6. Games from all 4 series (barring any sweeps) will be on Tuesday. They'll want the Yankees and Red Sox in primetime if possible. A potential game 4 on Wednesaday will be a night game. Just saying ... if you want a good value on a playoff ticket, that's probably how you're going to get one.
  7. Oh well, this probably means I'll be able to get tickets a lot cheaper...cheapest tickets on stub hub for NLDS game 2 have dropped by about 30% so far, from $85 to $59. Not that people are paying attention to this, but dropping to a #3 seed likely means the first home playoff game will be at 12 pm on Tuesday, rather than anytime on Saturday.
  8. I'll be watching both, two TV's, side-by-side. I think we'll win 2/4, but only because we're at home. We lose a squeaker tonight, beat Halladay and Lee, but get rocked on Sunday against Vance Worley. All is well -- just remember: our final three games are at home against the Pirates.
  9. The 2007 Mets blew a 7 game lead with 17 to play. The Brewers lead by 8.5 with 18 to play. If the Brewers were to collapse, I think it'd be the most monumental collapse in baseball history.
  10. Per the BP simulator, the Brewers have a 100% chance of making the postseason.
  11. To be fair, a player getting cut from an NFL training camp is probably a worse fate than a baseball player missing 4 weeks with a hairline fracture in his pinky.
  12. "Negativity" is a really broad word. I think a recurring theme, like Betancourt's suckiness or Yost's ineptitude makes for interesting discussion. It's much different than actively wishing a player gets injured.
  13. I don't think anybody wants Betancourt to actually break his hand. Just a heat of the moment thing after a tense game. Imo, recent comments just pour fuel on the fire and derail a good discussion. Not much else to add -- one of RR's worst innings in Milwaukee. I don't know what bugs me more -- giving up outs or using the team's worst bunters, while three lefties (and a really good bunter) sit on the bench. Betancourt is probably the second-worst player on the team and he continues to start everyday.
  14. Sunday, September 11 vs. Philadelphia will be aired on TBS. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/of.../broadcasts/national.jsp
  15. Based on the lines I've seen at Miller Park's ticket window (I waited 35 minutes in line yesterday afternoon), and from what I've overheard while in line, I think 14 of the final 15 games will be sellouts. The lone exception (and it'll be close) will be Thursday.
  16. I honestly want Wolf starting twice against the Braves. Atlanta's OPS against LHP is the lowest among all 16 NL teams. G1 @ MIL: Wolf G2 @ MIL: Greinke G3 @ ATL: Marcum G4 @ ATL: Gallardo G5 @ MIL: Wolf
  17. Anybody watching the PIT-STL game on Fox? Dan McLaughlin, the Cardinals PBP guy, is calling the game. No fewer than 5 times he has mentioned how great the fans are in St. Louis, the great attendance in St. Louis and how St. Louis is a great baseball town. Hmm... I'm seeing quite a few empty seats at Busch today.
  18. Looking to purchase a pair of Terrace seats for the Sat, 9/10 game against Philadelphia. PM me if you have an offer!
  19. First SI cover for the Brewers in 24 years.
  20. Today was a good day. We split a DH, gained a half-game, shaved 2 games off of our magic number and got a blowout loss out of our system. The Brewers were due for one -- it had been since the Thursday after the All-Star Game.
  21. Just for reference/perspective ... The 2008 Cubs largest lead was 10.5 games during the final week of September. The 2009 Cardinals led by as many as 11 games in early September. And I consider those teams to have won the division rather comfortably.
  22. I don't think it'll be too long until de la Cruz is DFA'd
