  1. Say what you want about the long term, but Yuni has helped this team in the absence of the regulars.
  2. I will freely admit that I was 100% in Uecker mode last weekend when I posted in the STL postgame that the team was only 2 series sweeps from being back over .500.
  3. All you need to do to put this defense under pressure is put the ball in play.
  4. I was drinking heavily last night and thought I saw a guy running the bases backwards. Busting out the single malt to see if I can make it happen again.
  5. You cannot lose a game on a CS. Unless you're the Cubs.
  6. It might be nothing more than very consciously trying not to overthrow.
  7. On the plus side, the ump looked like he belonged in an Earth, Wind and Fire video with the moves on the out call.
  8. Yup but he had some good timing with the DP balls tonight. Without question. And it's very fair to argue the strategy there. No matter where those arguments lead, whoever is in there to play has to play, and it's nice to see a guy make it work.
  9. When you get 6 innings and 3 runs given up on a night like Marco was having, all I can do is think of how many guys (without naming names) the Crew has had in recent years that would have almost certainly not worked out of it. You don't want to do it all the time, but you need to do it at least some of the time if you want to be on the right side of the competitive curve.
  10. Marco is lucky. Quentin may have killed him.
  11. They're SCARED of Yuni. OK, maybe it sets up the DP, BUT They're scared of Yuni.
  12. That George Scott bobblehead may be the most fantastic 70's-looking thing I've ever seen. I may have to head down to the park.
  13. Lohse left some pitches where he didn't want them, but SF didn't really hit hard to score any of those runs.
  14. Defensive indifference leads to fan indifference, so I'm surprised Mark A allows it.
  15. The 21-run promotion contestant is going to be so upset when he goes bust in the 8th inning.
  16. In other Cubs news, they had 5 wild pitches in the sixth inning against the Giants today. Yep, that ties an MLB record.
  17. Signed by the Cubs. This is perfect.
