  1. This is setting up for a Cameron walk and a Hall walkoff.
  2. Great. Just great. Hindsight 20/20, but maybe you wait until the runner is at second to sub in the fast guy. Especially if the fast guy isn't going to be trying to steal, anyway. Experience more importnat than raw talent there.
  3. If the Brewers had a closer it would be good to pitch him here. Maybe they should send Rickie down to Nashville so he can drive around with Vince Young.
  4. All he had to do was take that K pitch where it wanted to go.
  5. Off topic, but I'm just really glad the Crew doens't play Houston again this season. Note to this game: A Brewers run before tomorrow's first pitch would be nice.
  6. giffted's gift is fast fingers. That feels like a giant weight lifted off my chest. If the pen blows this, I'll be physically ill.
  7. I'm calling a 3 inning no-hitter for the Reds bullpen.
  8. I have gone from pure relaxation to abject apathy. Well, not quite apathy, but simply for psychological self-preservation I have gone into a state of emotional detachment.
  9. Preemptive vent: Until another contending team is in danger of being outnumbered in its own stadium by opposing fans from their biggest rival, as the Brewers likely will be in what figures to be a pivotal series to end/extend their season, I never want to hear any crowing about how hungry the fans in Milwaukee are for winning baseball again.
  10. Tonight's game tape would be a good answer to the question of why this oraganization probably trails Badger football and basketball, in addition to the undisputed kings in GB, in terms of fan appreciation in statewide.
  11. Jim Powell is one of the best in the business. I love his "I hope she's feeling better" ine after someone butchers the national anthem. I haven't had a problem with BA, Rock, or Daron in the recent past. It's not an easy job at all, and it's much harder than just working a game or two a week like a lot of the football/hoops guys do.
  12. Well, since the Packers kickoff at 6:00, you can watch the entire Packers game, plus the last hour of the Brewers game, without ever flipping the channel. I'll have teh Packers on the TV and the Brewers muted on the computer.
  13. I'm thinking the best alternative, given the Brewers roster, is to limit the high leverage situations as much as possible by scoring more runs when they are there to be scored.
  14. I was hoping from the title that this was about being the "8th inning guy"
  15. The games later this month keep getting more exciting every day.
  16. I was just going to say that I'm not jumping off this ship until the Doorman does. But when he goes, we can probably all just turn out the lights.
  17. Gwynn vs Hofffman is GOLD. Has to happen.
  18. In the interest of fairness to everyone else who has stunk, let's not neglect to point out how bad Corey Hart has looked in way too many ABs recently.
  19. I'm sensing a 'Boom goes the dynamite' moment in our near future. On a positive note, this board is so much more fun to read in times of angst. Therapeutic even.
  20. Not all 1-run games are created equal, are they? I don't completely buy the mental toughness angle, but I do question their focus/approach at times. Not really the same thing. More than anything I think they just don't keep themselves calm in certain situations, which causes them to make physical errors and play "too fast".
  21. I'm not really worried about the Brewers making the playoffs, so in that regard I'm relaxed. That said, my goal isn't just to watch a playoff game involving the Crew for the first time in a quarter century. I want them to win. From that perspective, I am panicked, because I just don't see them being able to hold up in games where back-end pitching, defense, and quality ABs make the difference. Not that that set of conditions defines all playoff games, but I just don't like their odds against most of the teams they will face in the playoffs.
  22. How about bangin on Sveum for a stupid, stupid, send of JJ?
  23. The Brewers just look fundamentally lacking against the Twins, Red Sox, Mets and other good teams.
