  1. The last starter to figure in a decision is Ben Sheets on April 18. Considering just the four efforts put in by Gallardo and Suppan since that date (and leaving aside some other pretty passable efforts by the other three), that's an indictment of something. Maybe everything.
  2. After the past two days, a fitting end would be a Braun single, followed by Weeks being thrown out at the plate.
  3. Compare Brewer schedule to Cub schedule. It MIGHT make you feel better, but then again it might not. Afer Sunday/Monday I was ready to predict an awful 2-5 homestand. Then on Tuesday/Wednesday I was thinking 4-3 at worst. Now I have no idea about this team whatsoever. I guess I never did.
  4. To steal a line from Bill Raftery: Onions!
  5. Just don't give up more than 1. You almost have to concede that run in the infield and take the out
  6. Is there any doubt guys like Hamels get calls and guys like Turnbow get squeezed?
  7. You know. If he actually pulls this off with a clean inning, and then strikes out the third batter, MP will explode. Hey, BA just stole my line.
  8. The tihing to remember about Braun being cocky is that we just get to see things sometimes during a three hour snapshot every night. Players during the season (including spring training when guys really get to know each other) are together more than they are with their families or anybody else. There aren't a lot of big secrets in terms f how guys are perceived by "baseball" in general , so if the perception is that Braun is pretty cocky, I'll go with that. This leads me to wonder why the Brewers decided to go with the Estrada experiment last season, but I digress . . .
  9. LOL! "He's an All-Star pitcher." ROFL! Thanks, Ned.
  10. Three straight excellent outings by starting pitchers, not a single one of them figured in the decision, and two of them left the game with the lead.
  11. My 10-year-old-daughter has taken to calling our former closer Turdbowl, "because he stinks". She sat through the meltdown in the HHH Baggie-dome last season, and I guess she's been carrying that around all year. I couldn't be more proud.
  12. Is the best thing that can happen here not taking the lead so that we don't see Gagne in the 9th?
  13. Is anybody/everybody else having audio issues tonight? I'm watching the HD feed via DTV.
  14. I thought we got the other director back now that the Bucks season is mercifully over. Always nice to watch Glaus rounding third as Gross is making a catch in the gap.
  15. The Reds are like a thief who can only make money by picking up wallets that people have left laying around. You just don't know where to place the blame for losing the money.
  16. Is Bil Hall Javier Valentin, or is Javier Valentin Bill Hall?
  17. If this ends bady, the worst part will be hearing the Reds crowd cheer as if they've been vindicated after suffering unjustly all day long. I know it's expected that the crowd will feel like its team is being persecuted on days like this, but to back up this BS is embarrassing.
  18. Embarrassing display by the Reds.
  19. Thing is, his zone was "unique", but fairly consistent until Bako got him going. Now it's like he's showing everyone that the zone is his, and he's not going to take any guff over it.
  20. This is exactly the kind of game that drives me nut against the Reds. I don't know how it's going to work out, but it seems they way too frequently win games they "don't deserve" against Milwaukee. As I noted a few days ago, I was hoping the Crew could do that a bit this year, and they pretty much did on getaway day in St Louis. But now they've played with fire two days in a row, and the odds of getting burned are high.
  21. For those on gameday, Bako just wouldn't give up arguing balls and strikes. And, he turned around to do it. If he just looked straight ahead and didn' show up the ump, he'd still be in, and teh next pitch still would have worked to K Fielder.
  22. Yost may be dumb, but Bako is an idiot. Pretty hard for a smart catcher to get thrown out while on defense.
  23. Ned Yost, Super Genius. I don't care who is coming in. It could have been Eckersley in his prime. Suppan was just cruising and it made zero sense to take him out there.
