  1. So, maybe they do end up skipping Narvy's next start.
  2. How about finishing up 15-3 at home to end with less than 20 home losses? I think at their current pace they end up squarely on 20. Another one of those "doubt it happens" deals but would be neat to see. And if they did it they would have a great shot at the 100 mark.
  3. I wouldn't advocate for any strategy predicated on matchups, either. Just a matter of comfort zone for the guys in the rotation. Probably not tht big a deal for Marcum to be off 7 days (and the other guys 6, which is fairly normal with a normal day-off situation in the team schedule as he'll be right back on the 5 day rotation after that.
  4. Yeah, the other side of the argument is that if you do skip Narvy, he pitches tomorrow and then the next start would be September 4 in Houston. Which is also a long time for him to go without pitching, especially since he hasn't pitched since the last trip to Houston. Not really an optimal situation for him either.
  5. We know that the starters for the doubleheader tomorrow are Narveson and Greinke. I'm looking at the probables on ESPN and they have Estrada listed for Tuesday, but I haven't seen it confirmed anwhere. That makes sense, as otherwise Marcum would have to go on 4 days rest to pitch on Tuesday. Marcum would then pitch with the normal 5 days rest to finish the series in Pittsburgh on Wednesday The mystery comes up later in the following homestand. With a day off on Thursday and then one the following Monday, it would seem like there is an opportunity to skip Narveson in there ad still have the top 4 guys on 5 days rest throughout the schedule. Will be interesting to see how they handle this. If they stay in order 1-5, that would leave Marcum with a full week off between starts (Wed vs the Pirates and then again the following Wed vs the Cards). Seems to me the best route would be to skip Narvy (possibly getting him some pen work if needed in that span to see if he may have a role there in the post-season) so as to throw Marcum, Wolf, Gallardo vs the Cards. Will be interesting to see how they handle this. To my way of thinking you want the top 4 guys in their routine as much as possible.
  6. All this fun and then we're all (hopefully) subjected to the vagaries of a 5-game series. In a weird way I'm very conflicted about how this "race" has turned so quickly and decisively in the Brewers favor. Just have to stick to the mantra that it's the journey that matters (while furiously knocking on wood until the October dates are confirmed).
  7. Had a great time at the wedding yesterday. Did I miss anything with the Crew?
  8. I think the thinking is that the greater likelihood that something bad for the bullpen will happen in Game 1. If that is the case, you have the knowledge of that outcome going into the second game and it also give RR the ability to use as much pen as he needs in an effort to get the first game of the DH without worrying about Greinke. If Greinke somehow stinks in Game 1 and you burn your pen trying to get that one, they would end up in real danger of being swept with no BP cover in he second game. I think this order also leaves open a better window to make a roster move after the first game if need be.
  9. Where at? I have one tomorrow too. Minneapolis. It's outdoors, so I'll be wearing taseful khaki shorts with a dress shirt. The secret code greeting is the "Beast mode" thing.
  10. With the short tunraround maybe things will stay salty overnight. Of course, I have to go to a wedding tomorrow afternoon that I want nothing to do with (and where there wil be virtually nobody to talk sports with), which virtually guarantees a great TV game that I will be forced to miss.
  11. Braun was just dumb. It was a borderline pitch. Probably low, but not egrigiously so. ANd the ump gave him plenty of leeway and he just took himslef out of the game, basically. Not sure why there is some saltiness in this one tonight.
  12. Guess Marcum isn't getting the bottom of the zone.
  13. Bonus. Got to get out and watch the local kids get their football season off to another successful start. Now a West Coast start ballgame.
  14. Hey, maybe the Brewers can play 2 doubleheaders in 3 days!
  15. Oh-oh. Every time FS Wisconsin breaks out the Cee Lo Green, nothing good happens. In fact, really bad beatings usually happen.
  16. It's going to be such a letdown when this streak ends. So, maybe they just shouldn't end it.
  17. What scares me is that the Brewers used up all their juju in this single game.
  18. At this point I'm hoping the Brewers win this 1-0 with Lilly facing the minimum +1 and the Brewers turning 2 more double plays. Tim Kurkjian's head would explode. (Not that I'm rooting for that second outcome).
  19. We can watch the Brewers for 5 years going forward from tonight and probably never see a better defensive game.
  20. I can only surmise that someone, at some point in the past month, sacrificed 2 goats and 4 chickens somewhere in Miller Park.
