  1. Maybe a 1-1.5 WAR utility guy that gets around 300-400 plate appearances per year? So a slightly better Hernan Perez.
  2. Hard for me to say a 29 year old has huge upside as anything. He strikes out a lot of dudes, walks a lot of dudes and gives up a lot of homers. He's maybe a middle relief type guy. FWIW, he had a lot of buzz coming into this season. The stats back it up, Steamer for example has a rest-of-season projection of 3.01 ERA, 3.10 FIP, 13.3 K/9. Don't just look at his ERA in 25 career innings. He's been walking everybody and giving up homers on top of that in AAA which has led to a 5+ ERA. Forgive me if I find it unlikely that he posts a 3 ERA in the majors.

  4. Too bad he doesn't know where the ball is going.
  5. Exactly, age matters. If a 20 year old is tearing up AAA, every evaluator is going to be more impressed than if a 26 year old is doing it. Wander Franco isn't the best prospect in baseball because he's hitting .341/.410/.560 between A and A+. He's the best prospect in baseball because he's hitting that well (in addition to being an average at worst defender at the most premium defensive position) as an 18 year old.
  6. There's a huge difference between a just turned 23 year old putting up big numbers in AAA than an almost 30 year old.
  7. A poster on realgm is a co-writer of this.
  8. I thought the episode last week where they went through everyone's birthdays for the year was one of the best episodes in years.
  9. Lucy: What's my dumb rookie nickname? Eddie: That'll come in time. Lucy: Alright. Well, what was yours? Eddie: Come on. Tingle button. Lucy: Of course. What was my dad's? Eddie: Nope, can't. That I'm not saying. Granny: Tuna can. Lucy: Why? Cuz he likes tuna? Eddie and Ike: Haha, yeah sure. Granny: It's because his junk is wider than it is long. Lucy: Oh god dammit.
  10. You really underestimate how little I care about shows like this. I've probably seen the ending of The Sopranos because it was the fade to black thing that pissed everyone off but I can guarantee that I've never seen a second of The Wire.
  11. I'm shocked....SHOCKED I tell ya that trwi7 would take one of the most popular TV shows of all time and complain about it! Guessing you had equal disdain for the Soprano's, the Wire...other shows that are escaping my memory at the moment? I have literally never seen a second of The Sopranos or The Wire.
  12. POST HERE MR. CISKIE!
  13. Preds suck.
  14. Oof. The Simpsons stopped being good in about 15 seasons ago.
  15. Outdoor hockey games are awful for every viewer. Says who? You? When I went to the one at Wrigley it was rather fun. I suppose if you like terrible sight lines, they're great.

  17. Wisconsin is doing more than fine in hockey exposure. The only states with more registered players are California, New York, Minnesota, Michigan, Massachusetts, Illinois and Pennsylvania. Those states are either twice as big (at least) as Wisconsin population wise, have multiple college programs and all have at least one NHL team and in a few cases multiple teams as well as other professional minor league teams, junior teams etc.
  18. SNC or UWSP or whatever powerhouse D3 program moving up to D1 is a lot like the conversations about Whitewater moving to D1, at least for football. Is the prestige of being D1 really worth joining a mediocre at best conference and being an also ran with no hope of ever winning a championship? Maybe SNC or UWSP would get lucky and get accepted to the NCHC or something but that's such a good conference that you're going to be fighting an uphill battle to relevance for a long time.
  19. The only other options would be UWM, UWGB and Marquette. Now all 3 would have a potential place to play but adding men's hockey requires either adding women's hockey or another women's sport. UWM and UWGB are bottom tier D1 programs to begin with in terms of athletics overall and conference affiliation so the chances the men's team would make money (most men's hockey teams lose money) is virtually zero and women's hockey or another sport won't make money either so they would have to have a pretty big surplus in revenue for it to make any sense and I doubt they have any surplus revenue. Marquette could be like Providence I guess? But again that would require an additional women's sport and would basically need to be funded for several years to get the program up and running much like Terry Pegula did with Penn State. So Marquette is probably the best chance but even then it's probably like a .000000000000000001% chance. And Wisconsin has a lot of quality hockey at the D3 level with 11 teams total. The state has had a participant in the D3 final 14 of the last 20 years, has won 6 of the last 8 championships and St. Norbert and UWSP have played each other in the final twice in the last 5 years.
  20. He's not growing into power unless he stops hitting ground balls all the time.
  21. Noice. Smort.
  22. The Point Mallard Ducks of Decatur, Alabama have moved to Milwaukee to become the Milwaukee Power. The NA3HL team will begin play in the 2018-19 season at an undetermined location.
