  1. I never said they were better, I said they were similar. Low strikeout, high ground ball guys.
  2. Loe, Egan, Segovia and Green are all similar pitchers to Mitre and we've gotten all of them either from the Rule V or minor league deals in the past two years.
  3. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/118669714.html If Carlos got hurt, we could be scrambling. Smart trade, Doug.
  4. Spring training stats are garbage. If they meant anything it would mean Adam Stern was a better option to start than Ryan Braun last year.
  5. Rosenthal says it's not going to happen? Welcome to Milwaukee, Nyjer!
  6. Jeremy Reed can be our new Chris Duffy.
  7. If we're acquiring Nyjer Morgan, he should be the starter.
  8. Our already weak bench gets even weaker. All for a slight upgrade for 2 or 3 starts at best.
  9. I could see it. Hart and Lucroy likely start on the DL, Greinke will start on the DL, Marcum is already having shoulder issues. The defense is awful. We have five hitters in the lineup followed by three liabilities and the pitcher. I personally would be shocked to see 85 wins. I'm predicting 83 and wouldn't be shocked at all with like 79 or 80.
  10. The Bucks want a lot of Friday and Saturday nights at home to help attendance. The Bucks used to have games on WCGV in just the Milwaukee area but now they're only on FSN. IIRC once the Bucks went solely to FSN, Badger coverage went to crap.
  11. I'd rather watch M1 Fighting Championship, The Fisherman's Handbook, Clinton Anderson Downunder Horsemanship and Supergirl Jam anyways.
  12. Hartland had a dusting of snow when I woke up this morning. Now it's pretty much all melted. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. Very happy I no longer live in Appleton. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. I watch the Canucks as much as possible. Love the unis, love the team, love the city. If the Predators get in and can't win, I hope the Canucks do.
  15. The problem is even if a Winnipeg team would sell out every game, they'd still be in the bottom third of attendance in the NHL. The only teams they would be beating this year are Dallas, Colorado, Anaheim, New Jersey, Columbus, Atlanta, Phoenix and the Islanders. And that's if they sold out every game. Speaking of moving teams. I wonder why the Islanders aren't being talked about as a team that could/should move. Their attendance has been pathetic the last ten years and they play in the worst arena in the NHL. 30th 27th 22nd 26th 30th 28th 30th 30th 29th 30th Haven't been higher than 22nd in attendance and have been at the bottom five times. As far as tickets for a possible team in Houston. Single game tickets for the Wild range from $26 to $98. Tickets for the Aeros range from $13 to $72. I think fans would be more than willing to pay about $25 extra to watch an NHL team instead of an AHL team.
  16. MTS Centre barely holds 15,000 for games and Manitoba barely has 1.2 million people. A 15,000 seat arena with a 700,000 metro area doesn't scream success to me. You'd be better off putting a team in Hamilton and letting them play at Copps Coliseum (older but bigger than MTS Centre) while they build a new arena. Hamilton is basically the same size as Winnipeg but also has Kitchener and London (450,000+ metro areas) and Burlington (125,000) closer than Toronto. I'd try Houston. You could keep them in the same division, create a rivalry with Dallas and Houston is a huge metro area with nearly 6 million people that could support the Rockets and an NHL team. The Aeros have had a lot of support as well. In the last 5+ years they've averaged over 6,000 per game. They also have a fairly new arena, the Toyota Center where the Aeros play that holds 17,800 for hockey, so they wouldn't have to wait to build a new arena they could just move right in.
  17. I still want Rock Your Baby for the comedy.
  18. Hopefully this provides better coverage too. The coverage right now is a joke. We got maybe 5 games this year, we also get the Minnesota announcers when they play them. Get some games on Big Ten Network every Friday and Saturday during the conference season and get agreements with FSN in the Big Ten markets to broadcast games throughout the season.
  19. Mario Lemieux hasn't said a word about this yet. What a hypocrite.
  20. Yeah the WCHA will be fine. There's not a lot in the CCHA after MSU, MU and OSU leave. Miami, Notre Dame and maybe BGSU?
  21. I doubt they'd go to Milwaukee. Kansas City was used by Pittsburgh to get a new arena, they have a new arena in Kansas City and no team to compete with at that time of year, so they would be a logical first choice. Houston and San Antonio have new arenas as well but I don't know how the Stars would feel about it.
  22. Pretty much says why Winnipeg and Quebec City would be awful cities for relocation.
  23. The Western Conference is insane. Teams 3-10 are within 9 points of each other. It was just a week or two ago that you could have home ice advantage, lose and then be out of the playoffs the next day. Just insane. Admirals with a huge win yesterday in San Antonio. Now with a 3 point lead on Houston with two games in hand plus points in 14 straight road games. Back home tonight for a game against Lake Erie with a big crowd expected. Huey Lewis and the News with a postgame concert. Admirals finish the season with 10 of 12 games at home. Speaking of tight races, the Western Conference West Division is insane right now as well. The top 7 teams are separated by 9 points.
