This was a Friday night game, and I was working second shift at the time (against my will). >:

 

What I remember better was the game the following day. Toronto had just made the big deadline trade to get David Cone. It was NBC's Game Of The Week and the Brewers roughed up Cone.

I didn't remember that the 31 hits set the American League record.

If I remember right it was a MLB record, at least I remember the announcers saying that the 30th hit tied the NL record.
