What are our rotation options for Monday?

Sabathia - no way - pitching Sunday

Sheets - no way

Gallardo - no way they bring him back on 3-days rest

Bush - pitched 3 innings today

Parra - pitched 2 innings today, and if he starts, it's a guaranteed loss

Suppan - 2 days rest following 5 innings?

Mcclung - 2 days rest following 4 innings?

It looks like Villanueva (who I don't mind in this spot because I know he can mentally handle it) with McClung and Bush maybe available for 1 inning?

Suppan and McClung could probably both pitch a couple innings. That would be a natural throw day for them.

Not sure why a Parra start is a sure loss but whatever. I dont' think they'd start him.

In the last 2 months he's 1-6 with an ERA around 8 and a WHIP over 2.

It's not so far fetched that Yo could pitch on Monday. The guy hasn't pitched in 4 months. 3 days rest for him at this point of the season isn't like another pitcher going on 3 days rest at the end of the season. Yo probably still has a pretty fresh arm and could be very effective.

It seems like Yo pitching on 3 days rest would be more dicey if he had succombed to an arm or shoulder injury, as is the case with most pitchers. I realize that knees/legs are important to pitchers, but I think it's just not quite as risky as might might outwardly seem.

As well as Yo and Seth pitched their last times out, I feel fine using them to get through 5, or hopefully more. Heck, let's see if they play Monday first. If he's not used today, Carlos V going 3-4 innings might be an option as well, as his splits are excellent versus LH bats.

I say we just pitch everyone 1-3 innings until their spot comes up to bat. It would be like playing with a DH in the 9 spot for the entire game.

You know, that's not the worst idea in the world. And given Sveum's inclination to think outside of the box a bit, don't think he hasn't thought of that.
