I see no body really posts or reads much here anymore, but Jody Gerut is the prize for all the haters of TGJ (and I know there are a bunch of them here). What a wonderful prize.

Florida's gun must be fast...no way Matt Lindstrom throws 99 mph.

Oh well...at least they're done with the Marlins this year. Hopefully the Cubs and Braves actually try to play tonight and they end up getting done at 1 AM Eastern... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

I don't see why Macha doesn't have Gerut bunt.

This is the second time in a few weeks that we've blown a chance to come back in the 9th.

eh i don't like bunting in the 9th. Just a free out. That is, when you actually have guys that can hit coming up. Jody Gerut is not one of those guys I guess. I don't think he's that much better if at all than Duffy or Gwynn. At least those two take pitches sometimes.

I think Macha would've played it differently if the Brewers were at home. Since you're on the road, you want to try to get as many runs that inning as possible, so you resist the temptation to bunt. With Gamel already being used as a PH earlier, even after a sac bunt after Rivera you likely would've had to send McGehee up there to pinch hit, which isn't exactly enticing either.

Stinks that they basically lost because of one bad pitch resulting in a pitcher hitting a 3-run homer, but those are the breaks. The wins will come when the starters can get back to going 6 innings, I'm sure.

Reporter: "Gerut isn't helping you much off the bench, is he?"

Macha: "That's a correct statement."

Did that really happen? Haha.

I dunno, I could care less we got rid of Gwynn. But Gerut so far has not been any better then him. I think I would have hit Catalanotto there instead. And I would have started Gamel over Hall. Of course.

Gerut has performed better than TGJ over the long haul, and at the least has done better than Nelson did in his time here this year (I'd hope). I'm comfortable he'll adjust to coming off the bench and will return to mean.
