Are you implying something here Yostinfection, or am I grasping at straws that aren't there. The other Hardy deal rumored here meaning one of Morrow, Guthrie, or Perkins might be next???

Had heard rumblings about Doumit. More wishful thinking on my part, maybe - I'm a big fan of upgrading the C position. It certainly would complete the C-SS-CF defensive improvement up the middle that is so essential in baseball.

I missed the Doumit reference as well, but that is an interesting idea and a pretty good call given how the two teams could match up. I could definitely see the Pirates looking to shed Doumit's salary ($3.5M in 2010, $5.1M in 2011, options in '12 & '13) for a lower level prospect or two.

They just drafted that kid too second overall I believe. I know he's not ready yet, but I also know they expect him to arrive fairly quickly.

Tony Sanchez (he went 4th overall) is his name, and he appears to be taking the fast track to the big leagues. You're right though, his presence makes Doumit expendable, as does that of Jeff Clement (more likely to play 1B), Racine native Jason Jaramillo and Robinson Diaz.

Doumit would be a nice guy to target if they decide Lucroy or Salome won't be ready by next year. I hope and think that Melvin knows Kendall should not be a viable option as the starting catcher next year.
