  1. Monty, few teams have made moves yet. Its been a slow off season for everybody. Doug does lots of gm-speak too. Don't believe anything on the payroll until the'pudding proves it.
  2. I am guessing it is Fields.
  3. There was supposedly some legs to an Upton for Olt and Holland deal. I wonder if we added a little something to Hart, if Texas would give us both. We then could trade Ramirez and get something really good while being set with what I think will be a great young cheap infield (Gamel I have faith in at first).
  4. Has there been an update here?
  5. I can't believe we can't afford one of these second tier free agent starters as is. Then if you have no money for relievers, it should be easy to do minor trades for bullpen help.
  6. Maldonado and Gamel for Dickey seems fair
  7. We would be fine with a Kottaras type as a backup. If we can get a good return for Maldy, Doug will find us a good enough backup catcher to play once a week.
  8. There are twelve teams that would take him for a song. One of those twelve will pay more than the board thinks. I guess we will see who is right.
  9. I am guessing they will get a better offer for him than most posters on here would want to give up. So with that,I'd pass.
  10. Melvin mentioned teams have called about him but that he's "not motivated" to move him. Which day this week will he be dealt?
  11. I'd offer Jurjjens the mike Cameron deal from a few years ago. Five million for next year and ten million for a team option in 2014.
  12. at least he's not going to walk batters. I'll take him over parra, that's for sure.
  13. I guess I value Gamel more than most, since I can totally see Kenny Williams insisting on him in a deal. You can sign a Floyd type for 1-2 years without giving up assets I would think. Just wait until January when there will still be a couple guys leftover.
  14. I'd like to try and put together a deal for Hughes if we could extend him..
  15. There's too many good relievers that are free agents to make me want to trade assets for one.
  16. I have no interest trading for a guy with one year on their deal.
  17. If 2/26 isn't going to get him, is anyone on here even interested in Dempster still? I'd rather sign Jurjjens after he gets non tendered.
  18. With Martin gone and it appearing that they aren't going to pursue Pierzynski, I look for them to fill catcher by trade. What would we look to get from them? I expect lots of bullpen responses and am interested in those names, but also other names too.
  19. It would be a waste to resign him with Gamel or Morris possibly being ready to play better ball than Corey by 2014.
  20. The Mariners may have made some sense for him too, and not because of Jack Z.
  21. They were strongly considering Rick Peterson. I know he was not liked around BF, but gosh did he have a bad collection of pitchers he had to work with.
  22. I think 5-10 other teams will heavily pursue Bauer more than us. I don't think Doug would target a top young pitching prospect this offseason, even if you disagree with this logic. I think Doug is fine with his young starting pitching prospects and will look to a variety of other areas this offseason instead.
  23. I disagree with you here, Monty. We are going to spend money this offseason. Basically, we have to hope Edwin Jackson is a better way than the many other ways we can waste money. I have confidence Jackson will be a 2/3 anyway, but the brewers are not going to be in much trouble if he ends up being Randy Wolf. We will still be good and competitive with finances in order just fine.
  24. I think Gamel and Maldanado will play vital role's on next year's brewer team. I really see nothing wrong with paying Edwin Jackson. He'll probably be the last free agent starter we will need to pay (not counting resigning Gallardo again) for a healthy number of years. As long as it's not a big overpay, let's keep our talent and sign out number two starter.
