I think a Jeff Suppan signing by the Royals would be more expected. We all know Yost loves him some Suppan. Then we can find some more fantastic sound bytes about how, "Soup pitched great!"

He destroys LHP. He and Matt Diaz are both noted RH bats, but they lose value when they see more than the occasional RHP. But, if used properly, both have plenty of worth as platoon guys/bench bats, especially Francouer, who is a solid defender.

Career .824 OPS isn't exactly destroying anything. For comparison's sake, new Diaz has a career .905 OPS against lefties. Francouer still looks pretty solid on defense, so combine that with a cannon for an arm & the reputation for being an elite defender (which he hasn't really been for two or three seasons now), and I guess I can understand why he pulls $2.5M. And because Dayton Moore is terrible.
