Mets considering Bush

Posted

Mark down the date, January 11, for the first rumor regarding a potential new home for Dave Bush. MLBtraderumors is quoting Jerry Crasnick on Twitter that Mets are interested in reuniting Bush with Capuano. Seems the connection is Ricciardi from his Blue Jay days.

Actually Bush makes some sense for Mets as he would benefit from pitching half his games in spacious Citi Field.

I'll miss Bush

Do you think at some point there will be a billboard up in Milwaukee with Dave's picture on it that says: "Miss me yet?", just like the one somewhere with another famous Bush?

I like Bush, but with a projected rotation of Greinke, Gallardo, Marcum, Wolf and Narveson and having Rogers, Rivas, Fiers, Butler, and Dillard waiting at AAA... we are in serious trouble if we are missing him.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

I think Bush was seriously underappreciated by a majority of the fans. He put up some very decent numbers in 2008 was on the way to doing so in 2009 if not for Hanley Ramirez. Save for a few outings in 2010 he was a decent #4 and a good #5. Personally, I wouldn't have mind seeing him compete with Narveson for the #5 spot in the rotation.

He was a very solid pitcher a few years ago, but I think there's a good chance he's done. If he were to go to the Mets, Citi Field may help alleviate some of those home run issues, but it won't help the fading control and velocity.

I wouldn't say he's "done", but I just see a guy like Narveson having way more upside than Bush at this point.

Bush had some very good years with us, and was the only pitcher to win a playoff game for the Brewers since '82. I hope he gets a spot on the Brewers "Walk of Fame' someday.

So the Mets might have 40% of our awful 2010 rotation on the mound for the next year? Gotta be excited if you are a Mets fan.
Really says something about our team when the major market Mets are signing Brewer castoffs. I can't wait for the day when the Yankees and Red Sox are doing the same.

I don't think the Brewers were down on Bush. It was the arbitration process that pushed him out the door. He's certainly a capable #5 on a good staff and an okay #4 on an average one. But when you have an equal alternative that costs you roughly 10% of what you'd have to pay Bush for the same production, you go with the cheaper.

Wherever he signs, it's going to be for his true value which is probably about half the $4.2 million he earned because of arbitration last year.
