All kidding aside, this is pretty ugly. Probably not worst-case scenario for the Tigers, but pretty close. I can see this coming down to the team trying to make him go to rehab, him refusing to go and the players' union having to choose a difficult stance.

If this was the NFL he would have a pretty lengthy suspension coming but I don't think MLB has a personal conduct policy. The team will probably fine him and suspend him a few games.

He'll get community service, write a book about his struggles, and tearfully appear on Oprah.

Not good. Such an immensely talented ball player in his prime willing to throw it all away. Not that there's an appropriate age to let these sorts of things slide, but it's not like the guy is 20 years old where I could maybe pass him by on a strong lapse of judgement. A grown man with an open bottle in his car that's so intoxicated he's willing to take a pull off it in front of the officer that just pulled him over appears to be a serious drinking problem.

 

I hope he gets the help he needs. I think he's actually quite underrated as a ball player. He gets overshadowed by the like of Pujols and and some of the bigger market first basemen, but if not for Albert, Cabrera would be the best hitter in the game right now.

It's easy to forget Cabrera is only 27 years old. His counting numbers are pretty ridiculous, and if he can keep himself out of more trouble, he could very easily end up in the HoF.
