Mike Aviles, SS/3B, Royals

Mike Aviles seems like a perfect trade candidate for the Brew Crew.

What would it take to get him?

He's having a pretty terrible season this year, and he was in AAA for a lot of it, he also hasn't played a lot of SS over the last few seasons. I'd much rather have a guy like Jamey Carroll, Rafeal Furcal or Clint Barmes.

I have been thinking we should see what it would take to get him. I think he has a career ave around 285 but he doesn't walk much. I think he would be a great option instead of counsell/Wilson, but who wouldn't be...

He had a horrible month, but he was good last year and fine until about the 10th of May. A month in Omaha seems to have straightened him out. I'm not so worried he hasn't played a lot of short recently, when he played there his numbers were okay. Besides it's not clear where the Brewers need more help, 3rd or short.

 

I'm just not sure the Royals will give him up just yet. Moustakas hasn't proved to be ready yet, and with Betemit gone, their option at 3rd is Aviles.

 

Aviles is a potential non-tender in the offseason who'd definitely be a guy to consider.

I think the brew could have used him. He's like Hairston, but would get rid of counsel or Wilson. He is a great hitter when he's getting ABs.
