Lucroy: blocking balls and taking a beating

Just thought he deserved some love - I haven't had a chance to go back and watch the game, we were sitting 3b side so it's tough to tell how many balls would have gotten away from him but it seemed like he blocked close to a dozen pitches yesterday and took the brunt of a few of them. Unsung hero of yesterdays game imo.

He has to have bruises all over his body. Lucroy played a terrific game. Yo was bouncing almost all his curveballs but Lucroy did a terrific job. Some here were calling him the player of the game last night

Also did anyone notice top of the ninth when Axford came out Lucroy was standing on the mound waiting for him. Lucroy was the only player on the field and was just waiting for him, I don't know why, but that to me was just awesome to see, it just another sign that he really is taking a leading role on this team.

Kirk Gibson brought up Lucroy yesterday in his post-game presser, specifically with regard to the ball he blocked while almost standing up, but you could tell he really appreciated the effort from his spot in the opposing dugout.

Luke's been blocking balls and getting beaten up all season. The cool thing about the postseason is that people are starting to notice this about him. It's too bad that his name has to be mispronounced or that he has to be referred to as "their catcher," but that should change with the NLCS.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

I'm getting closer and closer to committing to a Lucroy jersey. Who had a custom Lucroy shirt made in June 2010 (while MP kept trying to move Zaun shirts in their store)? This fan.
