Well I guess we better pencil in Groome for the Hall right now. I wonder since he's going to be an ace why he slid to 12.

Good luck with that. You're getting a number two starter if things go well at best.

Oh good because that is all I need. Royals didn't have an Ace and did just fine last year. Also you can find Aces down in the lower minors before they get big. Teams do it all the time.

Ok. I made clear I'm unhappy with the pick. I'm not going to sit here and applaud everything. I was on record before the draft I wanted a pitcher and it didn't happen. We are going to hope that Ponce, Diplan, Hader, and maybe Kirby can become top pitchers.

But I will drop off for now because you guys want to celebrate the pick and I will let you have at it.

One positive about the Ray pick is the Brewer farm bats really have been disappointing in general. Maybe they see a huge need there?

Or perhaps it's the Cubs model of taking the most advance bat, then trading for pitching down the road?

The Cubs got their ace for Scott Feldman and Steve Clevenger. The Pirates got near ace production on the FA market without paying a ton in Liriano.

Aces can come from all kinds of weird places.

Ok last one because I didn't see it.

Be realistic. We need a front line pitcher who can win multiple playoff games in a playoff series. No one said its the only way to win. In my opinion, it's the optimal way. Get yourself a Bumgarner type whenever possible which is barely ever. This was a shot.

Happy for Gavin Lux to go in the first round. I am really impressed with his bat speed and sounds like a lot of scouts expect him to stick at SS.

I don't want to celebrate it, I just think it is unreasonable to completely blast it as a huge mistake with no chance of success. There is a middle ground between the two things.

It's okay to not like the pick but you don't have to be a complete tool over not getting the player you wanted. You tell me to add to the discussion yet all the stuff you posted added very little to any sort of discussion. It won't be the last time your favorite team didn't agree with you're analysis.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

If teams thought Groome had a reasonable chance of becoming Madison Bumgarner, he would have gone in the top 3 picks. All of the pitchers this season are flawed, there's a reason they fell.

I actually think Austin Tatious is usually a good poster, but holy crap, give him a day suspension or something on here...he is out of hand...the pick is not the one I wanted, but Ray's BABIP does not make sense...the lowest BA/BABIP ratio I have ever seen...he was hitting in atrocious luck....and 44/44 is not an accident...he is an amazing base stealer

Congrats to Wisconsin native Gavin Lux. Went and watched him a few times...will definitely stick at SS. Highest pick for a Wisconsin player in a long long time.

I wonder what kind of deal the Brewers get done with Corey Ray? I'd like the pick a lot more if we saved some cash for our upcoming picks.

As stated multiple times before he is a Top 5 talent see don't expect much of an underslot deal. Might save a little, but not enough to grab some fascinating player that dropped.

Obviously just speculation, but if there is any savings whatsoever I think it's minimal. He is a $4 million player IMO.

From the sounds of it, Brewers have been on him for awhile, my guess is they already have a deal and amount in place for him. My hope is 3.2-3.6 million. Think that is a fair underslot for him. I don't see Brewers picking him if they knew they would have to pay slot. They do that research & the numbers attached.

lol at all of these posters freaking out over us picking a consensus top 10 player at 5! I'm sorry but I will trust the experts and our scouting department over the opinions of most posters here.
